Introducing the Cyclone - the Best TH8 Farming Vault?

Hello everyone! First off let my say my thanks to OJM for his vaults thread for inspiring this one, before I came across it, I was a doubter, but now after some experience, I love them.
Also, hats off to Piolo, and Daug, the two who helped create a baseboard for the design.
And finally, thanks to people that gave me good feedback from my other 2 design threads. (They were really bad, looking back on them :P)

This is a work in progress, so please comment with your feedback.

What this base features:

Completely Unlurable CC.
Almost Perfectly Equilateral Wizzard Towers, Air Defense, and Mortars.
Reverse Pentagonal Archer Towers and Cannons.

The Teslas are outside of the core, unlike any other design in the TH8 vault thread.
I found that the Teslas inside the core was a failing design as giants headed straight for them.

I will be posting logs and cool actions screenshots when I get on my tablet.

Sick base bro! Good job!

With all the gold storages in one compartment if an attacker gets one they get all 3. Also this generally isn't considered a vault.

A vault is generally a village where the central compartment is vastly larger than any other compartments.

Anyways, I think there is no point of this petty definition discussion. I thought a vault was a base with a large central component with the most valuable resources

All the vaults I'd encountered were large core.

I believe town hall 9 is the first place where vaults actually "work". Nice base design though.

In a way, the OP's design and the feel of the base brings to my mind pokeball. Totally different, yes, but has the same spirit in it. I got the same impssion on few other designs on the project threads. Maybe in few days I dig back into those... :)

I really like this design. I am going to give it a try once my stinking teslas finish their 12 day hike to lvl 6. My one question would be if there was a way to get those giant bombs inside. I hate it when 1 barb runs over a bomb and they go off.

Wouldnt stand a chance against th9, neither a th8 now that spells cost elexir. 10g/wb 20 gobs 40barbs and 70 archers to take the loot. Enough said.

The core really unlocked some great potential with the ability to have it surrounded by three almost equilateral triangles.

Thanks! A reason why I maxxed my teslas before most of my other stuff is because they really do work in this design :)

I think I have had some attacks like this that failed miserably. Let me sift through my defense log and replays.

It maybe was a noob who attacked you, one thing is sure..I wouldn't fail. Many players does not know how to use their troops so its not something new heheh :)

There is no th8 base that can truly stop a skilled th9 attacker from getting the loot. There just arnt enough defenses and walls to kill lvl 6 giants and an AQ with 4 spells. I've tried virtually every design on this forum as well as a few of my own (although I'm not fully maxed) and when a th 9 comes along with full spells you can kiss your 1800 DE goodbye. However, when you hang out in gold II or III you rarely get those type of attacks. I seriously doubt that th8 army would be able to get to the core of this base, but it's possible if you have a full compliment of spells.

I had made this base a while ago after seeing Ojm's th8 vault thread. I never shared it on the forums. This is the second time ive seen this base show up on the forums with the exact same layout as the one I made. So did one of you guys find me in search or do us 3 all think alike? Thought I should bring this up since this is the second time ive seen the base appear on the forums.

Ahh ok :P Well I would like to see yours and see if its "exactly" the same.

This actually did really well. I upgraded to th9 though.

Can I get some more feedback/comments?

You can't see it now ☺️. Ive been th9 for 1-1.5 months. But It worked really well for me 😜.

Would it work for me if I have lvl about 1:1 ratio of lvl7&6 walls, all lvl 9 AT's, all lvl 9 cannons, all lvl 5 AD's, all lvl5 WT's, all lvl 5 mortars, and all lvl 4 teslas? Also could you post a pic without the blue lines?

Not a huge fan of having ALL of ur gold storages in one compartment espically with the new update and th 9's feast on th 8( not saying that I do it or anything...)

Spring trap placement will not trampoline giants. Right?

The problem I have with vaults is:

1st) Very easily nuke-able, seeing as some people use 3-5 level 4 or 5 lightning spells on just your main resources (presumably gold/dark elixir).. [this only happens if you raid frequently or if your storages are full most of the time].
2nd) If, and I say IF they break through the other compartments, boom all your main resource(s) right down the drain. Although, I rushed my town hall 8 somewhat, so I'll try this out as I advance in my journey of the town hall 8 lifestyle.

Pretty good base overall though, and great job upgrading closed to maxing at lvl 75. :)

That's a sick looking base man!! Being a new th8 I don't have the time to think up base designs, (all my clash time is spent upgrading stuff) so I hope you don't mind me borrowing this until I have the time to think up one for myself!

I really love the way this base works, just one thing I dislike is the trap placements. Also, I don't have 5 builder huts, so I need to re model the outside buildings to my liking. That's all for my feedback, and yeah. I really love the base, and the design looks amazing, nice walls too!

Great base, I just finished copying it. Only concern is that I have 1 leftover wall. Is that supposed to be like that? or am I missing something? thanks

Yeah, it's supposed to be like that, on the first page on the first pic, there's a single lone level 8 wall above the northern barracks. You can now thank me for giving you peace of mind:p

am using this base for a few days with great success. Hardly any loot taken. Works like a charm

Had been looking for a promisingly looking TH8 vault for a while.
Will give this one a try, if I may :)

had my first defense (other than the usual TH snipers).
Was pretty much a disaster for the attacker :)
Some of his giants went flying. Inner core not breached.
His archers took one of my gold storages before being destroyed by a mortar.
He come through the side where an air defense is being upgraded, because of his minions. He had to face the Level 8 walls there. No loot taken from me worth mentioning. (Had no gold on offer anyhow, wonder why he attacked at all. Maybe for the de)

a TH9 three-starred me, level 6 giants and such. My defenses are still very weak in their level :(

All you people praising this base do realize spring traps are key to defending against attacks right?

If you acknowledge that fact you should see that northern and southern spring traps will not do anything to giants, wasting a valuable defensive capability.

I have adjusted the traps in my base accordingly.

It continues to perform quite well if defenses are up.
Currently however, I am upgrading all wizard towers, a tesla and a mortar (yeah...) so I got a three star loss by a maxed TH9 offense tonight with many level 6 giants. But that is to be expected.

However, I also had two Balloon raids. The first was a revenge by some idiot that brought 40 balloons and spells and nothing else. He managed to destroy all my defenses, then time ran out. Somehow he forgot to bring minions and took zero ressources. We had a good laugh at that in our clanchat.

Another balloon minion raid with Level 6 balloons was very successfull though.

All in all I am still happy with the base. Of course, always looking here and there for other layouts, but if I find nothing that convinces me, I might just keep this layout until I go to TH9.

Seems promising, but just by looking at it It wouldn't fare well against Hog Riders: the second ring contains defenses which giants/hogs go to rather that circling around the base.
Will try and see.

Testing it right now. I would let you know how it goes when i get attacked

was using this base during later stage of th8 to protected most gold & DE.
There's was once an attacker with 8Wbs its just open straight to core.

Then i tweeted the base slighting with some opening & funneling, did better that way from my experience.
No longer th8 so cant share the replay or the base anymore.

The teslas were my downfall with the earlier version of this, that was the reason the core from the vault thread was faulty.

True and true. But please keep in mind that this is for farming. Rarely do I get a severe attack, and it fights off BAM extremely well.

Haven't seen a maxxed hog attack yet. It's don't well vs mid leveled hogs though.

Well that many wb's would break into any th8 vault, especially if the attacker knows how to use them.

I'm trying it out

CC doesn't seem unlurable if i use a couple giants + 2 wallbreakers. The reason most don't like vaults is that I use 10 wb to get into the core I drop a heal spell on goblins and get everything by destroying only around a third of the base. Your base is well made, but will still succumb to this. Otherwise looks very nice, but not something I would use to farm.

Now that my Mini s a TH8 I thought about using this base design again.
Not sure yet, currently using Tempest.

This base is a TH9's field day.

nice base. i am currently using it. has worked amazing. i have been attacked by lvl 6 giants and archers, the giants have taken out all the defence and have missed the center (due to not having telas) must have been really frustrating for the attacker. I had 320k gold avalibel to him and he missed it. Thx for the base bro

where did I say that??? A th 9 can easily destroy the entire base. It is bad base.

Not really? Vaults used to be the thing in the early days.

Yeah really. I used the base and I almost have maxed out defenses. 4 th 9 attacks in a row completely destroyed my base. One of the worst bases I've ever used.

A vault is a room where you keep all your gold. In this case, all the gold are indeed in the came compartment, thus vault. By putting all your gold in one place, it makes it really easy for th9's to take all your gold. I would love to barch this base ... so yummy.

I know this is an older base but it would be great to have a 4 mortar version
