Currently, defence seems to play a mahusive part in where you rank on the war board but I feel this should be based more heavily on the offensive ability. I feel the best case scenario would be to order the home clan in order of offense and the opponents in order of defence. This would make mirror attacks way more fair and cause less problems when encountering engineered bases as they would be more suitably matched for attacks and receiving them
There’s a lot wrong with this post. Currently, your place on the war map is determined only by defense weight, also called gold weight. When’s Clans are matched for war they are matched by the war weight of the entire clan, both offensive and defensive weight. Your mirror doesn’t mean you were matched with that player. Changing the order of appearance on the map wouldn’t affect matchmaking at all. It would just the positions of the bases based on offense instead of defense. You would still be matched by both offensive and defensive weight.
I wasn't aware war weight was based solely on defence and if it is, that's just nuts! (I thought Witches used to have a big weight bearing but I could be wrong). All is now clear why engineering is such a thing!
But I wasn't suggesting to change any of the actual balancing of matches, just the positions of how the home clan sit. Eg home clan players should be listed in order of offence and enemy clan players listed in order of defence.

I just don't get why everyone is placed on the war board based on defence when the only action you can actually take is to attack. Defence is just left to run its course so why list everyone in order of defence in the home team? I think having the enemy listed in order of defence makes perfect sense, it's just the home clan list that bugs me. Players automatically think if they are ranked higher, they should be hitting higher nd it's rarely the case. Players that haven't rushed get penalised attacking lower targets as many people go down the attack your mirror route or something similar
Most likely, everyone is placed in an approximate defensive strength order as a way for your clan to decide who to attack in the other clan and for them to decide the same to you. When you are deciding who to attack, you don’t need to know their offensive strength, just their defensive strength, so that is what is shown.Quote:

Also, the rank is based on the gold weights which used to be the defensive weight used by the matchmaker, but many think it no longer is.
I'm referring to the home clan though. I agree the enemy should be ranked via defence but I'm saying the team you play for should be ranked via offence.... So no1 on your own team is the guy with the best offence and the no1 on the enemy team is the one with best defence. No50 in your own clan has weakest offence and no50 in enemy clan has weakest defence. Atm, a brand new TH9 can outweigh a max TH9 that's held off from buying xbows or a new TH10 that's placed 1 inferno will outweigh a maxed TH10 that's held off from them etc.
I think that just makes it more complicated for SC - there would be two versions of the war map each war for SC. Just gotta remind players that they shouldn't pay attention to their own rank on the war map - that they should just focus on who they can 3 star.

Yes, it would mean a 2nd set of rankings individual to each team. So the team you are playing for would see themselves ranked in order of offence and the enemy team ranked in order of defence. The enemy team would see themselves ranked in offence and your team ranked in defence. So each team would see a unique map but unless you were hopping between the clans, you wouldn't even know the difference.
They must have some kinda algorithm set up for this already to be giving suggested targets in war but I feel these are often wrong too and possibly based on defence a little

Put it this way... Due to the current set up, I was able to learn how to engineer... If we were ranked in offence in the home team, I wouldn't of had a clue that offence isn't or is barely taken into account
