Unfair currency exchange rates for gem cost, you might be taken advantage of.

I couldn't find anything on this topic (searching on gems gave quite a few results) and this seemed to be the best place for this thread, correct me if im wrong.

I noticed this a long time ago but I don't buy that many gems so never really bothered bringing it up, now that I made an account anyway it's about time to shed some light on this injustice!

I'm only able to compare swedish crowns but I'm sure that other currencys suffer from this. Buying 14000 gems in USA costs 99.99$, in sweden it costs 749 sek, the current exchange rate makes it 6.56 sek for 1$ a accurate cost for 14000 gems would be 656 sek. To make the difference more obvious, the cost for 14000 gems in sweden is 114$, it doesnt make a big difference to me but I've seen some heavily gemmed bases in the swedish top 200, 14$ extra on every 100$ adds up to alot in the long run.

I havn't compared other currencys but it's easy to compare your own to e.g the $. Check if you get scammed!

I'm well aware that SC can't update the gem cost everyday but this is a big difference in my eyes and the swedish crown hasn't been valued as low (compared to the $) as SC values it, since july 2010, thats 2 years before the game was released. I can't see it beeing that hard to pick a currency and compare the others to it once/year to see if it needs changing, just see if another even good number is closer.

Was thinking that it might be some kind of fee for exchanging the money into a bigger currency but it can hardly be fair that the players have to pay that. My guess is that they checked up the currency while developing the game and has left it there, this would make the currencys that has dropped in the last few years "cheaper" and the more stable ones more "expensive".

This is really just a warning for the players that buy gems out there, your base may in reality have cost a whole lot more than others.

I agree supercell can't update it often, but I also don't think that it's fair. Any ideas on solutions?

You need to also take into account the varying taxes across different countries.

I also noticed the change in the AUS store. Just make sure you switch to the US store everytime before buying

Pretty much what I wrote in the post, just update it once a year. I don't think that's to much to ask for to fix something thats such a big part of the game. I'm not sure in how many countries/currencys clash of clans is avalible but I'm guessing it would take some work and therefor not make it to often.

As I wrote, I'm not personally affected very much (might be more in the future, upgrading TH 10) so I'm not ready to really take the fight, just wanted to put it out there for people.

Just like a lot of other things in the game SC will turn a blind eye to it, because as much as it pains me to say it cause I enjoy the game, they are milking this cash cow for as long as they can.

Thats true, conducting buissness in different countries can generate different profit. Not necessarily though, I'm sure SC pays most of their taxes in Finland cause it's where their office is (if they havn't moved). But besides that, is it really fair that the players should pay extra so SC can get the same amount of profit in each country?

Havn't thought of it, and to be honest didn't know that you could, maybe I should compare all the currencys
you can choose between to get the cheapest one :)

SC is also in San Francisco USA if it makes any difference to the exchange rates

I think we can demand an update on each currency once every year atleast, not sure in how many countries/languages CoC is avalible but gems are a big part of the game for alot of people, keeping the spending fair should be a priority in my oppinion.
