Simple Lightning Spell Solution

Why did SC make lightning spells? I'm quite sure it was to take out defences or Clan Castle troops. For example, a high level mortar or wizard tower, or an air defence. Or a bunch of archers that keep mowing down your troops from behind a wall, and your troops ignore all other buildimngs and attack that wall.

Don't tell me it was so that people could steal DE, because DE wasn't around when lightning spells were made.

So, we've estabilished the point of lightning spells is to take out defences and troops. Some people use them to take ouy builders' huts as well, so we'll add that in.

Why not halve the damage and make it do 2x damage to defences, troops and passive buildings?

I'd prefer it if you didn't post if:
1. You are one of the scum who take our hard-earned DE by tapping on a lightning spell icon and tapping a few times on our storage, and don't want to have to attack using skill or give the opponent a chance.
2. You want to tell us that 2k DE is easy to get back, because you have very little work and can attack several times a day.

Actually no, they don't. Zappers, (The common name for DE stealers) just drop lightning spells without placing any troops.

Mr. H's idea is actually very close to my own, but we have separate perspectives on which damage stats or hitpoints should be changed.

I actually think that this is a better solution than mine, because it would probably be easier and simpler foor supercell to implement.

I don't see why people get so butthurt over that. Just revenge them and get your stuff back or get elixr and gold in exchange.

Actually, it would cut in half (or into 1/3) the amount of DE that zappers could harvest from a strike. That means that instead of harvesting 1,500 DE, they would only get 500 DE. I think that this would greatly reduce the number of zappers, as they would realize that they could much more easily (And Cheaply) harvest much more dark elixir by attacking using troops and strategy.

The solution Mr. H is suggesting actually does make much more sense than just leaving the issue as it is.

2 times damage to defenses is too much. A wizard tower or mortar can be taken out with 1 lightning spell. Take them all out(but 1) and deploy witches, which will usually result in a 3 star. I don't think this is the correct solution anyways. Besides, you must be zapped a lot. It's part of the game, and its needed for town hall 7 so they can get the barb king. If people don't like zappers, move up to 2000+ and you will almost never get zapped. If you do, then you can usually find a base with 2k de within a few searches. I'd say this is part of the game and people need to deal with it.

Ah Now I see, It said cut in halve. I missed that part. But still, Most of the time I used lightning to take out a barracks or something to get 50%. This would ruin a entire other side of lightning. JUst make it do 1/2 Damage to resources.

It was fairly clear I think, but many of you missed it. I did say halve the damage, and then do 2x to the defences. So it would do less damage to storages but the same to defences.

You obviously didn't see the part that said that the standard damage will get cut in half.

Think of it this way: It would do the same damage to defenses, but 1/2 damage to resources.

As I said, many people (myself included) do not have time to do enough attacks to get my DE back.

Most of the zappers are TH7, so revenging them wouldn't do me much good.

And saying 'get elixir and gold in exchange' is, to be perfectly blunt, stupid. Sorry, but I simply can't find any other way to describe it...I want DE, getting gold or elixir doesn't help me get DE...

There was never anything said about not letting zappers contribute to this thread. However, I think that we should correct zappers so that they are encouraged to attack using troops and strategy as well as lightning spells.

You didn't read the part about halving the damage properly...And yes, I do get zapped a lot, which is precisely why I have made this thread. It is not needed for TH7, it is perfectly possible to get the BK without not giving your opponents a chance to defend their hard-earned DE...

And I'm not moving up to 2000 cups, I am farming.

This is part of the game, but a bad part. I agree, people do need to deal with it and change it. Thanks for your support!

Exactly. It's sort of like saying:
'Oh, I'm sorry that you got raided 200k gold when you were about to upgrade your town hall, why not go out and revenge them 200k elixir?'

It doesn't work like that.

Thank you for finding something that I have not said ridiculous. I said I would prefer it if those people didn't post, but I cannot filter the responses.

I wasn't playing CoC during the last update, but I find it hard to believe that they reduced the bonuses to deal with that single problem. I'll take your word for it though. So they tried to deal with zappers, I'm glad that SC have acknowledged them as a problem.

And yes again, it does say something about the state of the forums. I think that they are in a very good state, as people are joining and telling SC about the lightning spell problems.

They actually reduced the bonuses to stop higher level players from dropping trophies and then finding players with lots of resources and woefully inept defenses. It wasn't to prevent zapping.

On a more constructive note, would you consider including non-resource buildings in the double damage group? On numerous occasions I have gotten 48% with two or three lightning spells left and have successfully zapped barracks and builders huts all the way to 50%. Thanks for your time!

Agreed. I admit. I WILL zap in a revenge if somebody way higher than me attacks me and I already know I can't win....but they took de from me in the first place. Do I make a buncha lightning spells and search for people with de just to zap em? No. Because I would rather make 2 rage and 3 heals and attack for REAL.

You've got a good point. I agree that this should be included. 'Does x2 damage to defensive and passive structures. Deals standard damage to resources.'

Yes, the point is simply to reduce the amount of DE taken. I have tried to put that to SC in the easiest way to code possible. I didn't include other buildings in the 2x for 2 reasons.

Firstly, there are currently only 3 offensive favourite target groups: walls, resources and defences. There are no 'other buildings', and so I did not inlcude them.

Secondly, units only have 1 favourite target, and so I only included one.

There is no problem for us concerning the other buildings, but there may be for SC.

Very true, I never thought about coding as an issue before, but I can see how that would be difficult. However Supercell did code witches which seem a little more difficult than a simple lightning spell. Maybe, to ease coding, it could just be lightning spell does 1/2 damage to resources.

Yeah, I phrased that badly. I meant more the writing, it could look clunky. I'm simply trying to adhere to the SC theme, but if that changed that would be fine by me.

It seems to me that our two ideas are pretty much the same. (I never knew that! Wow!) Although II have to say, I agree with you. Why do people have such a big issue with trying to fix the problem of zappers- when they insist that they aren't zappers themselves, and are fed up with lightning spells being thrown at them? It makes little sense to me. From my perspective, either of our ideas would help to reduce zapping and encourage strategy and planning during an attack.

2: You think that 60k is a lot? Wait until you're using dragons and PEKKAs. If you've got a good strategy and good troops, you should be able to attack someone with 80k and three star it.

That's part of the issue with zappers: After a while they forget how to actually attack. A solution to the problem is to start at the bottom: Drop down to bronze 2 and start attacking from scratch, so you slowly build up experience.

I really hope this wasn't directed towards me. I have only zapped DE like twice and I am at around 2400 and pushing. Anyways my point was 60k is a lot when your not attacking at all.

You are forgetting about CC troops... So does that mean we now need three lightning spells to take down wizards?

Good point, in that case we'd have to abandon sticking to the 1 favourite target and add in the troops and passive buildings. I'll update the OP, thanks for pointing that out.

They reduced the loot bonus because they changed spell cost from gold to elixir and most people have an excess of elixir than gold, which means a higher liklihood of spells being used to hit storages.

He said 1/2 the damage of the spell and making it x2 to defenses, therefore it does the same amount of damage to defenses and less to everything else(primarily in this case, DE)

SC INCREASED the DE storages hit points, then they,DECREASED the loot multiplier. What else do you want. Zapping is an "effective" strategy used by many. Easy solution- BAM can crack open a base with lots of DE

Yes, they did those two things, but made spells cost elixir which offset a lot of that benefit.

Spells are far more attractive costing elixir, particularly for a lightning bolter. It doesn't take long to get to a point of not needing elixir at TH7 & TH8. But you need gold and dark elixir. 3 lightning bolts is an easy way to resolve that.

I'm not against storage's having some lightning immunity, but not sure if that is the best solution. TH8 vs TH8 or TH9 vs TH9 would be fighting for only 2,000 DE. Lighting drops in that case aren't that big of a deal. They also have equal revenge opportunity to get it back.

I think the best solution would be for SuperCell to cut back the loot multiplier further.

If you are TH7 or TH8 with 3 bolts and find a TH9 or TH10 with 3,000 DE...you are going to bolt every day of the week - also knowing you get 50% protection on defense. That's the problem in my opinion, the multipliers is what makes the tactic so attractive.

If the loot multiplier was scrapped and you saw only 2,000 DE regardless of hall? I don't think as many will bother. It would also go a long way to restoring loot balance at all halls. It's stupid that TH7 can make more then TH10. Loot bonus is also a big contributor to this problem.

Not a zapper but if that's how people play the game then why punish them for it? Ur resources r going to get stolen in many different ways, that's the game....

There are several reasons, the key reasons being that: no matter how decent base you got, there is no way of defending against zapping. Another one being highlighted already is the fact that if you are a TH9 trying to revenge the zapping TH7, or the same scenario with TH10 and TH8, there's a 50% loot penalty for you, so you have no chance to get back anything of value whatsoever.
If someone steals my resources in one of those different ways mentioned by you they are breaking into my core and pewpewing my DE, and probably have a well-developed enough base to have a fair amount of DE to steal back, unless they spend it all on an upgrade before I have the time to revenge. In this scenario, at least you have the opportunity to get back an acceptable amount of resources.

The loot bonus sould be decreased, and to all those who go about how they already did decrease it, yes - but only when there's a 3 level difference in TH, meaning the TH7's can still lollipop around zapping TH9s (or 8's versus 10's) for the same 50% bonus, with no fear of retaliation due to the 50% penalty the other way. Hope this clarifies the issue for some people.

Lightning is fine. It's the loot bonus that is broken. They need to scrap the bonus.

lightings on de is definitly not fine and should be dealt with .
want good heroes ? work for them , dont come and just throw some lightings on the staroge
this is very annoying , and im trying not to log off much becaouse of this
im working on heroes now and taking the de with farming army , and i get revenged with lightings .. theres no way they can get to my de so they just throw 4 lighthings and take half of what aviable ... :mad:

Anyways, this is ridiculously hard to implement because the lightning spell's coding calls for random strikes around a central point. Along with this, you are asking that the random blows are further restricted. Not happening....

I don't know how many lightning kill wizards I thought it was 2, but it doesn't matter because like you said it would be doing the same damage by 1/2 then x2. Example: 5/2=2.5 and 2.5x2=5 😱

when had my de storage full I didn't get zapped once and if I doi don't care it just a bit of de and it not need that much I have tried de zapping before and it is ineffective. cost more than you get and is unsastaniable.

I like to get my Dark Exlir zapped, as it's a challenge.
Plus if they use Lightning Spell to zap your Dark Exlir, and end battle, they lose trophies.
Also If your Dark Exlir storage is 50 percent full, they have to damage half of the Dark Exlir Storage then they'll get the Dark Exlir.

That's just my opinion.

I'm a pretty maxed out TH 9 (walls and heroes left) and I'm farming in the 1400-1500 trophy range to afford my walls. I get zapped from time to time but im generally ok with it, I attack mostly TH 8s and rushed TH 9s, sometimes badly rushed TH 10s and TH 7s.
Lets face it, these bases can't revenge me and get any profit with their lvl troops and it's mostly on revenges I get zapped. I've dropped down to pick on easier bases and I feel that their revenges are fair, when I'm after DE I'm at a higher trophy count. I don't know in what trophy region you are but in my experience the zapping stops higher up, had 1 or 2 in crystal+ but it was failed attacks and i suppose they wanted the trophies to sting a little.

We are not whining, we are simply posting what we consider to be problems and proposing solutions. That is what these forums are for, I suggest asking a moderator if you have any queries.

There is no way to adapt to lightning on DE, which is the heart of the problem.

So you are saying that I have 2 options. Adapt, or quit. As there is no way to adapt, I am assuming that you are suggesting that I quit the game? Lol.

I dont see what the problem with coding this is, all that happens it that it does 2x damage to certain targets.

How am I asking that random blows become further restricted?

And as for the 'not happening' bit...that is for SC to decide, not you.

Do you really think that I would have made this thread if there were no zappers?

When I get hit for 600 DE for a few times in a row, 1.8k DE is not 'just a bit of DE'.

It is not ineffective, otherwise there wouldn't be so many people doing it. It may be ineffective for you, however, depending on your lightning spell and your town hall levels.

It does not cost more than you get. It costs 0 DE, and you get over 500.

It is also perfectly sustainable. Your collectors coupled with normal attacks will easily compensate for the elixir.

If you like to lose DE, you are very much in the minority.

Not all of us care about having shiny trophies.

If your DE storage is 50% full, the opponent does not need to get it down to 50% health to start stealing DE...otherwise people would get 0 DE from zapping, which means that they would probably stop.

Getting zapped is "a challenge"? I guess getting kicked in the ba##s is a handshake as well, yes? Zappers lose trophies (if they don't tale out your TH), true enough, but if someone is farming they don't care about trophies whatsoever. Your last sentence I don't understand at all? If your DE storage is half full, with an available loot of, say, 3000, you won't get that by doing damage equal to half of the storages hp - you still have to deal damage equal to its full hp to get everything in there.

Yeah, I forgot to comment on his ridiculous idea of having people tap on a spell icon and then tap a few times on your storage being a challenge.
