That is a great idea, incorporating the long spikes from the eggcrate into the strips. I like it :)

For that matter, if you could bend it at the fourth wall from the end, that path goes away completely. You'd have to test it out though to make sure wallbreakers couldn't make it through the gap and to make sure that wallbreakers don't revert to a default path after the spike was gone.
edit: And yeah, I'm just now reading your comment about the gold spot and the spike. (I'm so bad about responding to threads I haven't fully read.) Definitely the same idea.
I'll be certain to post my entire base in the base design thread once I'm done with TH7. I just looked through your farming base guide (which is great) and I hope you comment. By building near a corner, I'm better able to take advantage of trees and bushes that grow in two sides of the perimeter-- it helps channel wallbreakers down lanes to spikes (at least, I think it does).
Here's an excerpt of the relevant wall -- I made this for my clan mates a while back. As I noted above, I play to the 99% and hope that in the 30 second preview window, they'll pick the east wall to attack. I'm usually right. I didn't include archers or barbs in my diagram because they are universally obliterated by the double mortar/wizard tower as they stop to pick off the base camps and TH.

At th8 you will need at least 2 layers of walls because the troops are much stronger and they can brute force through the 1 layer wall designs easily. Another fun ai trick I learn to use is the U shape. No matter how you deploy your troops they will not attack the gold storage.
Goes like this:

No worries :) I appreciate your good intentions.
That's some very elaborate pathing o.O Nice!
No doubts about the wall! Thanks for the advice. I don't understand how that U shape lures the AI away from the storage a though. Do explain :)
Hmmm, I think I'll have a crack at this one =] So I think archers will not attack the storage until all the surrounding buildings outside the walls are gone, including both the archer towers. Definitely a lot of buildings to take down before one could hit the gold storages with archers. But could be done with some giants to distract, archers to take down said buildings, then deploy archers right in front of the lab.
Here's something involving the AI that really surprised me. Some guy had pumps behind walls in one of his outer side segments while I was aiming for his de storage that was about 3 layers deep in the center. I broke in deep with wbs but the gobs still went at the pumps even though the pumps were behind walls and the de was not. The worst thing was the collectors were far enough in the walls that archers couldn't reach them! Failed raid just like that.
Barb and gob will attack the side building and walk away from the gold storage. Basically take a walk around the outside.
Giants will attack archer/wiz then walk past elixir to the tower behind at that point the mortar will no longer focus the giants, there are springs behind elixir too for those Giants.
The moment the giants walk past mortar the mortar will drop agro and focus on the archers that are shooting the collectors on the outside. Basically divide and conquer.
Wallbreakers will not target the walls in front of gold storage but instead open up the sides for giants to go around the inner wall to die in the back to spring traps.
I think you're talking about what would happen if someone dumped all their troops at once. that's entirely reasonable and i'm sure a lot of people who attack you use that very approach. in fact, the pic i linked uses the same defensive approach: I expect the average attacker to attack from the front, lose a sizable percentage of their troops, and then to fail because they simply don't have numbers.
that said, there's a growing percentage out there who will use surgical attacks to cut off goblin tendencies.
in the picture you attached, someone who used a few barbs/archers/goblins to clear out the pumps and mines in the area could then place giants and archers on the two sides to attract defensive fire.
then, they could mass a wave of goblins who would bum rush your gold storages. as long as they kept up giants as defensive fodder and assuming they took down your wizard tower, you'd stand to lose both gold storages in short order.
here is my adapted design of your base btw.

The space all around is to prevent archers from shooting over though I frankly don't remember the last replay someone used a rage+goblin strategy with which he broke into the inner core but he cleared that side before with gobs and archers (from which I don't remember if they shot over the wall or not)
