New DE Mounted Troop: Wolf Rider

Long ago, the goblins that raid our clans now were not the only marauders our peasants had to fear. Fearsome green brutes riding wolves attacked our people for their gold and precious elixir too. Now, these broad axe wielding warriors have joined us in our never ending quest for power!

So, no one has replied to this thread, though a good number of people have viewed it... Do you guys like the idea, or am I pretty much being ignored? Are there any suggested revisions I should make, or is the troop well-balanced? Help me out guys...please.

Interesting idea, I've seen a couple of ideas that use the concept of ride/rider and after one is killed the other continues to fight.
I'm not sure about the troops preferences as far as favorite target. I think it should simply be any. The stats seem fine for its cost and training time, however for the Wolf alone it shouldn't have a movement speed of 40 since the fastest troop so far is 32, so maybe the Orc/Wolf to 24 and then the Wolf alone to 32.

Maybe you're right, but with the history blurb I gave at the top, I wanted the wolf rider to at least target resources, and I thought having two favorite targets would be an interesting new dynamic in battle. In regard to movement speed, I wanted the wolf rider to be between the hog rider and the goblin. 28 is the average of the hog rider and goblin movement speeds, so it was the natural choice. the wolf without a rider I wanted to be the fastest unit currently in the game, but perhaps you are correct, and 40 is too fast... I'll edit the stat. Thanx for the input!

Again, I was factoring in the chance to weaken the troop some. I was afraid that it would be considered too over powering. I will bump up the stats for the wolf and its chance though. Please continue to give me feedback!

The Wolf Rider, being both stronger and smarter than the goblin, targets defenses first, but doesn't get the two times damage boost until it attacks resource buildings.

Please do not bump your own post. My input here is just make the Orc rider go for resources only but once it dies the wolf goes for defenses. That would be cool.

A second mounted troop, adds variety. Furthermore, this troop adds an element of chance, dual targeting, and is very fast. The wolf would be the only troop to target heroes, and Castle units as well. This troop deepens the strategy behind raiding (and doesn't jump walls), and adds chance for a fun twist. That sir is why we need this new troop!

Why would you use this over the Hog Riders? It can't jump over walls, still attacks defensive buildings first, has a bigger housing space, is more expensive and takes longer to train...

An excellent question (and one I have answered before)! The wolf rider is designed to be a devastating troop when attacking Clan Castles, Heroes/Altars, Resources, and defensive units. Hog armies solely target defenses, and rely heavily on heal spells. Wolf Riders will not rely heavily on the heal, they are also faster, and are better suited for quickly destroying defenses once inside the base. (So remember those wall busters!) If you are suggesting that I switch the 'Favorite Target' stat so that they target resources first, (So that they become better resource raiders) I will gladly consider that. These troops are designed for taking out Clan Castles full of P.E.K.K.A.s and DE troops, resources, air defenses, mortars (their speed enables them to get "under the guns" (within the minimum range) of the mortar quickly) and heroes.

That makes no sense.... SC has used all ten slots in old barracks, but only 5 in Dark Barracks... Hence, new DE troops.

People have been suggesting all sorts of changes to the targeting. The dual target with riders and troop targeting with just the wolf is all part of the Wolf Rider special ability.

imo, the troop idea is one of the best i have ever seen, i mean: fits perfect in the theme, has nice special ability, well balanced stats, and has a little reference to "the hobbit" ( wich i love)

Thanx, I thought a tip o' the hat to Tolkien would be cool. Tho his Warg riders are are more KA than these wolf riders. I also thought the Gobs shouldn't be alone. So I made Orcs (green ones!) ride the wolves. I am glad you like the troop! I really want SC to make another mounted troop!

Welp, I thought I had previously commented on this thread, but maybe that was somebody else with the same troop name idea... Either way I like this idea. Of course, if it was to be implemented it would most likely have a couple of tweaks for balancing (the fact that I'm not sure what those tweaks would be is a good thing I think ;)).

I'm not a huge fan of another troop that rides a four legged creature, many people come up with such suggestions and they usually seem redundant and too similar to hog riders. This DE troop, fortunately, seems to be a unique enough troop that it WOULD make sense IMO. Nicely done!

Also, I found it funny how you treat your thread, exact same I have been having to treat my recent idea thread to try to keep it alive. Great threads deserve an occasional bump, even though we conceal them by responding to everybody else's posts (although we also respond because we care about their opinions) to do so. Because of this, I'll come back to this thread if I think it is dying, clash on.

Thanx for your support and your insights. I don't think responding to questions and editing the OP is bumping. It is thread maintenance. One does it to keep his readers up to date, and his idea fresh and revolutionary.

The only thing is the whole rider thing seems like a rip of the hogs. Maybe something similar.

why would you waste 20 minutes and use 65 de just to take out the heros or CC troops? abd second question: if you have one of these in your clan castle will it still go for the heros first or the closest thing?? THX

Ok, so first, you're spending 20 mins and 65 DE to take out defenses and resources, after the rider dies the wolf targets CC troops and heroes. Secondly, in ur CC I think it should target heroes first (got to try to counter those hero powers;)) What do you think? (Cook time is subject to change.)

Just remember that the wolf rider doesn't target troops initially, it only targets troops (and heroes) after the rider has been slain.

How about when a rider dies, the wolf howls, causing it and all other nearby wolves/wolf riders to go berserk (similar to rage spell). Maybe they all target the defense that killed the rider. I realize that this would make all-wolf rider armies OP, but maybe there is a way to implement this. Just an idea.

Should not be made with Dark Elixir. Too many people will be upset as hell

I noticed that the troop has duel targets, but does one take priority in the situation between defenses and resources. I was also wondering if i would be able to switch between the active dominant target on all wolf riders in battle? It would be similar to activating a hero ability only just switching the dominant target. Or would that be too OP?

This is practically two troops in one. It should cost a little more than 65 dark elixer

love the idea! and i don't think that having a 100% chance would be too OP - it's sort of like the golem.

I really like the idea but i think that the training time is a little much, Not far off of the dragon, and that has a great deal more damage and health, also i think needing town hall 10 would annoy quite a few people, so perhaps town hall 8 to unlock the troop and town hall 9 and 10 to upgrade them. aside from that, a very solid troop idea and i think it would be a good edition to the game :)

My idea is that they would target defenses first, and then resources. But the target switching you suggest is an excellent idea as well.

hey kind dao im that one phantom reaper guy u responded to im really suprised u got so many veiws and surpassed me too! i havent been on my forum for about 2 months and ii luv this idea and keep it up.

Too many people are posting new troop ideas that involve riding animals, since there already is a hog rider, I think its rather unoriginal. Think of something more creative

The point of that trend is to get another mounted troop..... Get with the program man! Medieval armies had more than one mounted troop. They had light cavalry (hog riders (hence why they jump walls IMO)) and Knights (Wolf Riders!).

Some ancient armies had camel riders and mounted infantry (dragoons) too. Others had mounted archers on top of all these other things. So the idea, and the desire for more mounted troops is not at all out of place!

I'm glad you love this post. I am almost ready to release the Wolf rider's 2nd, and possibly 3rd levels (they should be ready for release sometime this weekend...)! More OP editing :p.....

Levels two and three are up as promised! I'm looking for feedback guys, and really hoping for help balancing the new stats!

I think this is a really good idea. I think clash of clans can use some more calvary troops. Also, just letting you know, you spelled level wrong at the top :)

i think it is an ok idea but it kinda reminds me of the golem
when it dies it creates another set of troops. But i like it

So nothing needs changed? No stats need changed/balanced?

Sorry, the goblin still does more damage. It's high housing space is what makes it not as attractive. Excellent idea though!

This in my opinion is an awesome idea but SC has mentioned before that new troop ideas should be completely fresh and new. The whole wolf idea is relatable to the hogs with the hog rider for example. With a few tweaks though this should be a pretty awesome troop that could be included

By that logic, any mounted troop is out because it can be related to hogs. Also, new flying troops would be out because they can be related to drags and minions, or even healers. Oh wait, I can't suggest a troop that walks because barbarians do that! Honestly, you're being far too literal.

The idea is fresh and new because the wolf lives on after the rider, specifically targets heroes and/or other enemy troops, and does not jump walls. (So remind me how its like a hog?...) If you want to see a troop that isn't fresh and new, look at the lava hound... They're flying golems.

It's not a Gob replacement... Furthermore, wolf riders are featured in multiple fantasy worlds such as LOTR, WoW, and WH 40k. Why shouldn't we have them? They're obviously cool and successfully established. All I really want is another mounted unit.

What would you guys think if I made this troop specifically target Gold?

aha i found it look at the one in red buddy. as much buzz as the idea has caused, the troop is technically a trojan warhorse, moves until dead then a "new" troop continues the battle

*Customize troop builds = to order, permanent productions, saved queues, etc.
*Queue troop donation notices when offline – display when back online or new interface to see info after
*Show total training time left above barracks
*Show total elixir costs of troops sitting in army camps
*5x or 10x button in troop training screens for faster queuing
*Ability to rearrange barracks queued troops (ex: click/hold slide troop icon first in queue to the middle)
*Modify healers to include healing air troops
*Troop carrier (Trojan horse-like) it moves on its own until damaged, then troops pop out
*Requests for every troop types to have a related hero
*Prepackaged troop clusters = similar to clan castle deployment, but you can load like 50 troop count in 4 different clusters to deploy on offense all at once.
*Have clan war troop donations count towards donation statistics

True point; however it still seems to be a popular idea and that is why I decided to do the artwork for it. I don't think anything really has to be off the table so long as A) it doesn't involve gems or speeding the process of "the grind" or B) Causes a huge strategic imbalance in the game

any troop concept can be balanced out through criticism and discussion to a point where it might be able to fit into clash; and if an idea seems popular amongst the community I feel that makes it worth debating over; or at least to have a chance at being considered for a debate.

That's not what this troop is at all, this troop doesn't carry troops. It is a mounted troop. Are you so dense that you cannot see the difference? A troop carrier would carry more than one troop and not be able to attack until destroyed. This attacks until killed, and then the wolf keeps attacking. Geez, you basically just called this idea, golems, and lava hounds troop transports. Please think before you post.

I love the general idea, but may I suggest an ax instead of a mace, some armor on the rider so it doesn't look too much like the current goblin, and no spots on the wolf. I love the fact that you did this though! Great drawing!
