ENOUGH ! Please respect your champions

Dear Supercell,

I think that I can write on the behalf of a high number of champions.

We are tired to spend more 20 minutes skipping bases where we can win 1 tr (or lose 40 tr !!!!). We are also tired to spent hours and hours to win 9 or 10 tr and then lose 30 tr while defending...

Keep in mind that we are the ones who are buying a huge number of gems and it makes no sense to continue this way...

Over 3700 tr, we have nothing to do. Only Master I or II bases are proposed by the search engine. Please understand that it makes *NO* sense to start a fight with a +1/-39 tr ratio.

It makes also no sense to let people with 3300 tr or below attack champions with more than 3800 tr....

I would like to have a way to maintain my level, perhaps by fixing the numbers of tr we can win or lose (ie: 1 star=5 tr, 2 stars=10 tr, 3 stars=15 tr)

Please do something or you will probably lose a high number of early players (we can also say customers when we have bought for more than 5000€ of gems..!)

To be the best you have to work hard. Having those low trophy raids separates the best from the mediocre.

Never made to master as yet, not for the lack of trying though.....

But i to have thought on this un-fairness in the ratio when you lose against some one..... and as to people who are higher up the in "food" chain i can feel for you.

It makes no sense, how the hell do they work out the ratio's????

The reason you hardly ever find other champion players is the reason hardly anyone ever finds your base. You guys are all such dedicated players, that you'll usually only ever be online or on shield. It's reasonable to say that you'll only find other champions roughly as often as other champions find you in their matchmaking.

It all makes sense, and it's completely in the nature of the system. Sure, it's harsh, but that's the way it works.

Question : have you seen an improvement after the last update or are the cheap shield still being handed around like before ? (from your post, we could think there were no improvments at all).

Yes, I totally agree. But if we are staying online all day long and if we are always trying to be attacked by friends in order to minimize the loss, it is only because of a bad system.

I can't accept to lose 35 tr in a defense... It takes me 2 long days to get the tr back ...!! and only if I win all my fights...

That's why it would be great to have fixed tr, based on the numbers of stars... It will for sure make us disconnect on a regular basis while accepting to lose a defense and knowing that we can then get the tr back without spending 2 days and 6000 gems...

For sure farmers cannot understand this...

I did not see any improvement for champions in the last update... Still nothing to fight and still losing too much tr... Cheap shields are unfortunately not an option ....

I can actually understand this because I went trophy hunting last week. My highest was 2869 after 2 days of fighting 8+ times per day. I think I made 100 trophies in that period. Nevertheless, I managed to lose 61 trophies with 2 failed attacks, putting me back right above 2800. On top, I lose every defense, but that's besides the point. I think Zib is right that the ratio is a bit unbalanced, however I disagree that the system is broken. Just needs some adjustments.

The system is definitively broken over 3300 tr... The score from which you are starting to find *nothing* to attack without searching a long time and where you will lose everything in failed attacks or defenses. It is really "another" world higher where nothing sounds logical and this has to be fixed.

Nobody told you to go to champions league? if it is no fun, play where it is fun? pretty much your own fault...

the problem isn't the ratio being unbalanced, it's the players who are logged in all the time. There is a simple fix, but a lot of people would complain even more. All supercell has to do is make it so you can see other people's villages even if they are online. Only shields would prevent you from raiding them. Champions would see a lot more champions and the playing field would be much different imo.

Not sure what the solution would be tho !
- Attacking if online (as proposer up here) : seems unlickly as you could be moving stuff around or such ... some mechanics would be needed and it would be disturbing to be constantly taken away from our game to be attacked !
- fixed amount ... seems stupid as you would only be the best at attacking cheaper bases ... instead of scrolling thru higher amounts of tr you would be scrolling thru a weaker base. (and yes there would be some over there giving it the time).

Hi Tony,

I also like your proposal, to be able to attack someone online but it is difficult because:
- You can have an empty castel and the defense will be ♥♥♥♥♥ed
- Your heroes can sleep 3 hours at lvl 40... and it costs 240 gems to wake them up...
- It is not solving the unbalanced ratio. We should never have +1/-40 ...

The problem is that we have a +1/-40 ratio today. But it is not always weaker bases... You have plenty of Masters with walls lvl 12, max defenses and heroes 40... Nothing less than the top players... you just have nothing to win and too much to lose...

I do hope Supercell have been thinking, are thinking and will still be thiniking about that system, gotta keep faith they are trying to improve it ;)

hey zib - yup i agree with you, especially about the heroes. Maybe supercell could change them to not lose health/sleep on defense? If they figured that out I think it would fix the +1/-40 problem though, cause you would be seeing more people around your level.

ironically, zero-level farmers have the same problem. It takes forever to lose fights below 200 cups because the ratio is +30/-1. But this is why I think the ratio works. There is a clear bell curve across all trophy levels. When you hit the extremes it should become increasingly difficult. However, just like the zero-level farmers, there are some players in champion league that have no business being there. Being able to attack anyone unless they have a shield would eliminate this exploit, and give champions like you players to raid and defeat.

Hi Tony,

I totally agree, again. Just keep in mind that there is a huge difference between zero-level farmers and top players: the number of gems being bought... I really appreciated the tactics and the wonderful attacks done by top players, at the opposite of low level farming, where you are attacked by newbies. That's a choice and everybody needs to get the choice... but the system should always be understandable... at any level your are playing.

After reading this thread I got 2 conclusions:

1. Most of the members who commented here are small kids that put the blame on the will of Zib and other champions to have some challenge.
Its not nice and doesn't effect a thing if you're writing "it's your fault for playing in higher levels".

Understand this - some of us are farmers (and so do I) and some of us trophies hunters, each find a different way to enjoy this game, so don't blame someone for not choosing your favorite way to play!

2. The things that Zib is writing sounds a bit weird, think about it - it's really unfair that a player need to risk 30-40 trophies for the option to gain 1-4 in return.
The ratio is bad and should be changed so the clashers whos spent so much money in the game could enjoy it too (without their money the game was less advanced and all of us would enjoy it less)!

You can compare it to a farming attack that you got to win 50% of the loot or else you'll lose a big amount from your loot.

In conclusion, if the ratio is really like 1/-30 it should be changed immediately!!!

Sorry I can upload only 2 images... but you can be sure that the ratio is the same between all my screenshots... and that's really not what I call easy bases... Would you take the risk to attack them for 1 tr ?

In my opinion, there is currently an inflation in trophies up there that's why you can only find base with 1/-40 cup offering. I think the cheap shields and may be mods and other auto click stuff made cups go sky rocketing. By the time Supercell figured how to stop those exploits, the inflation was already bad. The broken trophy system also added to the problem

I still think that things can get better with time. Those trophies took about a year to go to 4300. Don't expect it to get fixed in few weeks especially most champs either stay online for long, ride their shields or try to buy shields when they can

I feel for you Zib. This looks really rough. I really have no choice but to believe SC is working on solutions to this. I think the issue is there are certain "questionable play styles" they can't foresee nor counter when it comes to high end game play. Also, it seems like such a precarious situation, that any small tweak could cause chaos to the whole system.

Any solution that I can think of to post, I can think of 2 or 3 ways that is could lead to an exploit or to throwing the system out of w♥♥♥♥. E.g., just naively changing the trophy ratio when a 3300 goes up against a 2800 could result in shattering the trophy progression and allow everyone to reach champions without much difficulty.

Allowing people to attack others while online has already had several issues raised.

I keep coming back to the idea that champions need to be able to find other champions. This means champions would need to be forced offline (with no shield) from time to time. This would be strange b.c. what game wants you to not log in to play it?

Even though I'm fairly fresh to the game (going TH7, playing about a month), I've been reading a lot about this issue on here.

A lot of people have predicted and hoped that the removal of the "cheap shield" would affect it, and would be a possible solution for this. But generally it looks like it didn't really change a thing from the feedback on here, except for some top players raging about their only way to glitch themselves to stay at the peak got taken away. (Which personally, if it matters, I find more than O.K., because basically that cheap shield stuff is lame and pretty much trophy-feeding along with getting a shield, making them immortal.)

The problem lies in the core and in the desire to get towards the top. Which is the spirit of the game, and if everyone had 3k trophies or more, it'd be boring, right? So if you'd get like 20 trophies per attack, attacking every 30 min, staying online during that period with your phone plugged in, everyone would get a huge trophy boost and the peak would even further getting "carried away" from the core of the players (trophy wise, that is, which is imo around ~2k?). The peak already has created that huge gap between them and the others thanks to these cheap shields I am guessing. The system was never meant to allow it, but it happened, ♥♥♥♥ happens, so we gotta get over it and see if SC finds a solution because the recent fix apparently has done nothing.

Zib, I can totally understand your point, don't get me wrong. But the system itself I believe was never made for a certain peak to get as far as they've come!

So the core problem lies in finding bases because they're blocked, either because they have a shield, or because they're online. Since you can't take player's shields away, that'd be very lame, SC would have to take a look into letting players be attacked while being online. Even though that's sort of lame too, and there's hinderances, such as that you have to make sure that the player isn't modifying his base but at the same time making sure that there's no "glitch" where you can just be online in "village edit mode". Get what I mean? That's a tad more complicated, and allowing that, would most likely cause A LOT of players to rage(quit). I do it too, in between my raids I try to stay online and tap the screen every here and then. :rolleyes:

You can turn and play with the thoughts and this issue all you want, there's no easy fix that will make everyone or roughly the vast majority happy. I learned that when I was SysOp in a different game - you try to fix one thing, and you create another problem, and so forth. Another thing I learned is: "Never touch a running system" - and this analogy on the current issue would be: the current system is running, gemmers are gemming, and people still have the spirit to hunt that one single damn trophy risking 30+. That system is actually working pretty well for the ranges that I am in, and in the extreme peaks bottom and top it's just supposed to work that way, although I must say that this isn't really great and if I was you, I probably wouldn't like it either and I'd complain too.

What might be a solution, which is very unlikely to happen, as it would be a drastic change and would require a lot of thoughts, is creating a "seperate" Champions league, where -ALL- the champions are searchable (minus the ones with shield) without the trophy search range cap and maybe treat this league differently than the others when it comes to "attacking when online" ability. It would affect YOU just as well as the OTHERS and would be a really risky change, because a lot of players will rage even more. But I guess that's the only logical solution to the problem.

Now that the cheap shield is gone, one should consider resetting trophies for a restart. Like all champions would go back to 3000 (or another set amount). A ladder reset or score reset is what happens periodically in other games. But it won't happen here, lol, I don't think so.

Sorry for the essay, I don't know if it helps at all. Just trying to analyze this bit and throwing in some possible solutions that won't get implemented anyway ;)

This is why supercell should either allow players to attack others who are online or just make a separate league for champions with separate rules. I've haven't been to champion, but I've been to masters, and it seems the higher you go in trophies, the less people you see around your level or higher. Even in masters III I had to search for a while before finding another masters III village and a decent win/loss ratio. Most were crystal I and crystal II bases with +13/-30. And to be honest, I stayed logged on much longer than I should have, cause there was no way my base could withstand a hog assault. That's why I'm not surprised that champion league is even worst. I think a lot of players in masters and champion hide their bases by staying online or riding shields. Again, I'm not saying it's wrong to do that; I'm just saying eliminating the online restriction would make things more balanced. Not everyone can leave their devices on all day.

The only problems I can see with this are heroes being killed way too often and the village edit mode exploit (as others have mentioned above). But these are easily fixed. Heroes can be changed to not need re-healing for defense, and editing your village would just need an UPDATE button instead of a SAVE CHANGES. Whenever you hit the UPDATE button, that version of your base is what raiders will see. No matter how much you change or modify your base, if you don't hit this button, people will see the old base. That, I think, would eliminate people hiding in edit mode, or mistakenly moving something for a second and getting raided.

I know it's horrible, but as many already said, if you want to be the best out of millions, I think it's fair that it's harder for you. It would be way too boring if anyone could get to champs, let's keep the Champions as Champions :o

I agree to this. But let champions fight champions and remove Masters from the search then. What is happening at a lower level with a limited tr difference during attacks is not applied at a higher level: I can find masters II player while being over 3800 tr...

Attacking them is very risky with a +1/-39 ratio and even if you accept the risk, a revenge will kill you (and they will all try, for sure...)

Your arrogance and sense of entitlement don't help your cause in the least bit.

I would argue that SuperCell makes more money from the mass amount of people purchasing small quantity of gems over the few that purchase 5000 pounds of gems...

The way the current trophy system works is relatively decent. The problem is that there aren't that many members at such trophy levels so it resorts to putting you up against lower trophy levels.

You say you want them to cap off how far above and below someone can search in trophy levels (ie a 3300 can't attack a 3700) be prepared for much longer wait times while looking for a battle then. This would fix the trophy ratio problem, but then you'd have something else to complain about.

The overall solution is that SuperCell needs to encourage people to trophy hunt. This will bring more people up to that trophy level. However, many people want to farm their upgrades rather than gem them (and rightfully so).

If I'm not mistaken, Masters are in the search because there are so few offline+unshielded Champions available. If they restrict it to only Champ vs Champ as you're suggesting, it seems like you guys would be staring at the search screen for hours on end before even seeing a base.

It's hard to win trophies and easy to lose trophies at Champion.
(Very very very hard, and very very very easy)

But imagine a world where that is not the case...

You win 4 attacks per day for 20 trophies. (PLUS 80)
You lose 1 attack per day for 20 trophies (MINUS 20)
You lose 2 defenses per day for 20 trophies. (MINUS 40)
(I figure ANYONE can do this...)

After 2 months of playing like this you have 1200 more trophies...
Where does it stop? The answer is nowhere, in a years time the top player in the world will have 10,000 trophies or more.

Almost all ranking systems work in a similar way to this at the top end.
It gets harder and harder to gain ranking points.
This is what chess uses (as well as various other games)

Regardless of the mechanism, it's harder and harder to get ranking places at the top end - there's basically nothing that can be done about it. To get to the top 200 you have to be one of the top 200 MOST ACTIVE and MOST UPGRADED players in the world... any system that it's changed too won't help you beat people who can afford $1000 gem purchases to get the troops to raid more often than you can.

We are tired to spend more 20 minutes skipping bases where we can win 1 tr (or lose 40 tr !!!!). We are also tired to spent hours and hours to win 9 or 10 tr and then lose 30 tr while defending...

Keep in mind that we are the ones who are buying a huge number of gems and it makes no sense to continue this way...

Over 3700 tr, we have nothing to do. Only Master I or II bases are proposed by the search engine. Please understand that it makes *NO* sense to start a fight with a +1/-39 tr ratio.

It makes also no sense to let people with 3300 tr or below attack champions with more than 3800 tr....

I would like to have a way to maintain my level, perhaps by fixing the numbers of tr we can win or lose (ie: 1 star=5 tr, 2 stars=10 tr, 3 stars=15 tr)

Please do something or you will probably lose a high number of early players (we can also say customers when we have bought for more than 5000€ of gems..!)

The problem is there just aren't that many targets up there. The further up you go the fewer targets there are. Most of you guys end up shielded or online. That means most of your targets are lower than you and thus you get very few trophies for defeating them and they get a lot for revenging you.

The only solution I could think of to help would be to shorten or get rid of shields entirely once you hit champion league. Dunno how you would feel about that though, but I can't think of any other way.

I think it makes it a challenge, otherwise many people, possibly even the farmers you complained about, would reach champion, defeating the point of it being the highest possible league. Leave the challenging trophie ratio in, and if you are complaining about being unable to attack other champions, I think supercell should simply allow raids whilst online and remove shield purchasing so you can attack them. And owene, be nice!
