Why is it so hard to edit posts?

why is it so hard to edit our posts. I don't like to send a post off with spelling mistakes, maybe it is because I am a teacher. But when I try to go back to the mistake I get kicked out of the site. It is damned frustrating, particularly when you have written a bit. Maybe I should just let it go and let the mistakes go where they will.

Have you tried a different device and/or a different browser?

Are you using Chrome? It does not get along well with the forum!

To delete a post one must hit delete then a box opens below and delete has to be chosen again. I didn't realize that for the longest time!! (No explanation is required. )

Hey Mary, my ipad uses safari, so not that then. I can delete back, but sometimes the error is in a previous sentence and I just want to correct that, not delete the whole post. Sometimes it lets me. I hold my finger on the screen and the magnifying glass appears, but when the curser is not there if I continue then it throws me out of safari. Although it does not seem to be doing it now. Just a gremlin I suppose, still I have lost dozens of post that way, then I have to type it again.

I use safari also and just hit the edit post tab and it works fine so don't know why yours doesn't. When I am at home I usually have the forum open on the iMac and farm on the iPad. half the spelling problems come from the computer trying to second guess the word you want when it is something different and I suppose that is a setting I could turn off ......somewhere.

If you have written quite a bit and spot a mistake, just click the back button, then when you repost, use the restore auto saved function... Or try copying and pasting, then hit the back button and repost again to edit your corrections... Or you could reply with quote, re-edit, then delete your previous post... Just a few of the available options... Me and the missus are both ex teachers as well, and find the spell checker is more of a pain... lol.

your list of accomplishments is pretty impressive John. Well done. I am still a newbie.

I'm only on the forums when I'm on the PC and before I make a post, I can click the Preview Post button to read through it and make sure all is correct before I actually submit my post. I would think there would be a preview button when using the iPad, too. If not, I would also simply read through my post quickly before submitting it. ;)
