Yes I know, I too wished this would’ve been part of this update.
For now I’m hoping this was too complex to code and they simply didn’t have the time for it and keeping my fingers crossed it will be addressed in a future update someday.

I believe the see visitor when idle should just take you to the visitor when you select, this is how it originally worked.. no double clicking. The see visitor is handy to use so I wouldn’t remove it - unless the ability to select the visitor isn’t available from selecting in the UI using 1 click
The only time I know and use the select visitor is to select it if unassigned to a building (ideally select visitor without selecting the “select visitor” icon should take you direct to it.... most importantly is to select a visitor to release it when it’s in a building that has other visitors ready to release to assist in avoiding releasing other visitors. Hope that’s cleaner to understand.
That would be a different see visitor button.
To selectively serve new townies (without collecting the ones that are ready) you use see visitor on the waiting tab
To selectively release townies which are ready you use the collect reward button on the ready tab
This discussion about the extra taps are about the see visitor button on the idle tab only.
On this tab it serves no obvious purpose whatsoever.

Yes that is more clear but this extra information makes all the difference in the world.
What I certainly do not want is to remove any functionality we have now. I’m a derby player too.
However on the idle tab this button serves no purpose. Humor me for a minute or so and next time you go to the town pull this post up and then take a minute to look at these steps as you go through the motions.
2 townies arrive in your town. Let’s call this townie X and Y.
You want to serve these 2 townies.
these are the steps you take
1) Click on town hall
2) click on X
3) click on see visitor
4) now you see the townie and can send X to the gift shop.
For townie Y you’ll have to go through all these steps too..
And then they’re still not served, they’re only in the buildings they need!
Now picture this.
What would be the objection if you land on step 4) after you click on X in step 2) ?
Or
If you click on X in step 2) a list would drop down instead of see visitor which shows
-Diner
-Gift shop
-Send Away
This would cut out 1 tap per townie.
Now whats 1 tap per townie ? Well that’s 10 taps for a full load on 1 single personal train.
Not to mention if you serve the multiple building townies. It’s a lot of extra and pointless tapping in a week...
Ideally I would also like to return to the town hall after I do step 4 on X so I can immediately continue with Y.
If both were implemented that’s 2 extra taps per townie... it adds up..

long story short. I certainly do not want to lose any functionality we have now.
Everyone plays differently and that should still be possible. Even with what’s ideal for the various derby tasks.
All they have to do is make it optional to remove "see visitor". Some use it, some dont. They could make it an option under the sorting options settings.
See visitor is definitely useless under the idle tab.
And yes, if we could stay in the town hall (and not get kicked out) everytime we send a visitor away or to a building, that would remove an extra tap as well, as kaptain kat has tried to explain
