Pushing to Champs as TH8

Hello, I am maxed TH8 looking to push to champions league

I am looking for advice, base designs, army compositions and other various things that could help me in my journey.


I have max offence and defence excluding walls which are nearly maxed.


I want to push to champions league because I want to finish the League-All-Star achievement which gives me 2000 gems upon completion. I want this to be able to get my 5th and final builder.
Before I upgrade to TH9, I want 5 builders in my village.


I hope you can help me with any advice or so on as well


Side Note: I have pushed to masters league before to get my 4th builder. Player Tag: #V900R0YL

More important than troop combo or whatever is opponent selection imo. Chose carefully who you attack, be SURE you will win...go slow, next if you aren't sure...do not lose on the way up. :smirk:

All it really takes is patience and good battle selection. Max th8, you can totally do this!!

I’d agree with this advice for a th 8 pushing to champs. Being selective with targets is extremely important.

As far as troop comps go you be better served spending a bit of time on YouTube and finding an army that fits your style of play.

And where layout is concerned you won’t get there by winning defenses. It’s just not going to happen so I wouldn’t put much time into finding a “th 8 trophy” layout.

I used valks for pushing because of its ability to shred immediately the defenses, and finally choose bases with town hall near outside.

I went to Champions two times as a TH8.

It takes determination and long raiding sessions.

I used GoWiPe and now I can often three-star with GoWiPe in champions as a TH9. I three-star with it more than I two star with it. You will probably need to boost troops or you just won't be able to attack enough.

A loss will probably cost you dearly. You'll often gain only 5 stars for a three star so much of the time you'll be getting less than 5 stars for a win. It used to be far worse but PBT was six hours then so I could raid for six hours before getting slaughtered by a TH9 or even a 10.

There is an advantage to using GoWipe that I think is being lost by the newer players. The knowledge is being lost. You will learn to funnel your troops or you will fail.

If you can talk a clan mate into taking the journey with you, it will be far more fun. Once you accomplish it you can always look back and say "I did it as a TH8" and it is an accomplishment.

You will be attacking TH9s mostly. The black xbows are level 3 but they are not to be feared as much as walls and Telsas. The Teslas used to have 2x damage to pekka but that is gone so they are not as big of a threat.

A TH10 is a powerful beast even when it is dead but these days you'll find some rushed that you might be able to get a star or even two on.

Find some videos on GoWiPe. I learned from Clash Tutor. It's an old one but should still be relevant. It's not a war attack you don't need to three-star. It is extremely unlikely that you will three-star any decent TH9.

The GoWiPe will be very expensive until you get to masters league, then the loot bonus will pay for half of the attack.

As others said: Defenses are not important: you will not win defenses anyway. So try to make the most from your attacks: Choose your bases not only on: can I get a star (preferably two), but also: how many cups do I gain. Winning 5 attacks at 3 cups per attack will get you nowhere when your defense looses 20 cups.

Best strats for pushing to champs will be GoWiVa or GoWiPe. You can try both of them by watching some YouTube videos.

I used a th8 army and a queen to get to champs, but i had to be active ASF. My army comp: 2 Golem 8 Valk 4 minon 3 archer 1 hog(cc lure) 12 wiz. I had a lvl 10 king and bowler is best to have in CC along with a max poison. Shorten shields wisely- Dont shorten a shield to a guard if you have time for one attack only.

I am also max th8 like you.I m in Titans 2.

I had a clan mate do it cpl months back. He used GoWiPe and GoWiWa with an EQ and (normally max) Pekka in the CC. EQ the core entry. funnel the edges. Blitz up the gut with BK and Pekka, Heal and Rage claim 2 stars on a lot of bases TH9 and below. or maybe some Zombie TH10 depending on their development (and those exposed easy 'anti-3' layouts that practically give the TH away).

its about offense, don't worry about getting destroyed on def. name of the game is getting as many quality stars on offense as you can. Fette said it very well. so listen to what he posted. out gain your loss cap.

try a Baby Dragon w/ Witch on Def.
