Well, do you? What is your reasoning?
Well, do you? What is your reasoning?
I have the max amount of cows, pigs, and sheep. I have two pig pens, goat pens, and chicken coops.
Here's what I wish I would have done: only one chicken coop, because eggs are cheap and abundant; only two sheep pens and pig pens because of the same reason; I would still have 3 cow pens because you need so much cow milk. Am undecided on the goats.
I just think of all that free space I would have if I didn't have all those animals.
I finished all except for the horses and stables. That was on level 42 when getting all the animals in their pens. Maybe someday I will get horses when all my land plots are cleared. I like filling up my land with fruit trees and cacao trees, berry bushes and coffee bean bushes
I have two empty chicken coops, wish I could store them!
Otherwise ok with 15 cows and pigs, 10 sheep and eight goats. All of which allowed me to do the animal harvest achievement.
I only have 2 pig pens and 2 sheep pastures out of 3. I just find that I don't use wool or bacon as much as other stuff. I rarely harvest all my eggs either, I wish I had only bought 2 of those pens instead of 3.
2 chicken coops, 2 pens for cows, sheep, and pigs, and 1 goat pen. I didn't see the need for more, and I like having the extra space.
I have all, but if I started over, I would only have 1 chicken coop and 15 cows. Everything else you can buy. You need milk and it rarely goes on sale
No.
Space limitations for all of the pens and I can readily purchase eggs, milk, bacon, goat milk, and wool in the DD and in neighbors RSS. Plus this lets me sell feed routinely.
I also don't have many pets. Just 2 dogs. Space and want to use my vouchers for other things.
I have two chicken coops, 2 for cows, sheeps, pigs and 1 for goats..I think that's enough for me..And i don't collect my animal products all the time, i don't want them to make my barn full so i just collect them when i need..
Testing
works
I have 3 chicken coops, 3 cow pens, 3 pig pens, 3 sheep pens, & 2 goat pens. Most people say they shouldn't have gotten all of them because they have plenty as it was. But I look at like this, any excess animal products you have, you can sell. You don't always have to sell at max price because lord knows you'll be stuck with a BUNCH of animals products that way. I usely sell my eggs, bacon, & wool at a lower price than max (even though I don't sell eggs often). & I sell milk & goat milk at max price, it seems they sell faster. With that, I was able to pay myself back for the cost of the animals & then some. So now anything I make in my RSS from selling animal products is strictly profit!!! Just thought I'd put in my two cents.
As far as the animals; I am trying to collect all of them. Not only do I want to say I have them all, but it's makes trying to complete this achievement easier

I have 3 chicken coops, 2 pig pens, 2 sheep pens, 1 goat pen and 3 cow pens. I never got the maximum number of chickens because I rarely need to harvest eggs as it is (and even if I did I can find them in the DD). The same is true of the sheep and pigs too so I doubt I'll buy more of them in the future either unless SC comes out with more products that need those items.
I have them all except for the last two horses (not enough vouchers) For all of you who say you don't need them because you can buy them in the paper, you are forgetting an important element of the game.
First: your eggs are free. Yes you have to make feed and feed them but the feed is free because it comes from your own crops which are free. When you sell them even at minimal prices, it is profit.
Second: you are missing out on a lot of XP. Every time you harvest the wheat, corn, etc to make the feed, you earn XP, you earn xp when you collect the feed and also when you collect the eggs. Lots and lots of XP Look at my level. I have been told by many that I am leveling up very fast and they are watching me pass up all their friends on their list. You level up with XP.
Third: You are taking much longer getting the achievements and the diamonds that come with them. There are achievements attached to the goats and the pets as was mentioned above and other harvester type achievements. Let face it we can all use diamonds.
Lastly: You are missing out on tools and Expansion material: Just like wheat, and all the crops actually, you get these items when you harvest your animals and when you collect the feed that feeds the animals. It takes about 60 times depending on your level but it is the same number that gives you them when you harvest wheat. Wheat is just faster. You also get expansion materials from the pets but at a much faster rate. If you have all the animals, you will make more feed and plant more crops and thus collect more of those precious bolts etc. That is the only way you can get these things without paying for them. I harvest my chickens as often as I can even when I have gobs in the barn because I can get the shiny things i am so fond of. The only things I don't harvest as soon as I can is the trees/bushes. For some reason, not only do they die, but they don't give you the bonuses that everything else does.
There! Bet you are sorry you asked huh?
Tigg
Nope I'm not sorry! Appreciating these contributions! :o
Yes, I'm referring to animals. Not the pets.
...I can't believe I didn't realize I could get a third cow pen :face palm: :)
I feel dumb now lol!!!!
I go through so much milk!!!
Yes, I have all the animals (and pets) and I would recommend to buy them as soon as possible even if you just let them sit there doing nothing.
OLD McHELEN HAD A FARM E-I-E-I-O AND ON THAT FARM SHE HAD SOME......
3 chicken coops= 18 chickens... With a cluck cluck here & a cluck cluck there
3 sheep pens = 15 sheep.......With a Baa Baa here & a Baa Baa there
3 cow pens = 15 cows........ With a Moo Moo here & a Moo Moo there
3 pig pens. = 15 pigs.......... With a Oink Oink here & a Oink Oink there
3 goat pens. = 12 goats.........Lay ee odl Lay ee odl lay hee hee ( imported from Switzerland )
Why do I have all these ? ...... I'm a farmer who likes making lots of money & xp points
Thank you you for the laugh, Helen I love your poem. I too have them all exempt the goats, still got two or three to get, I sure like to have my own products and I only harvest when I need them. My farm is a working farm, no room for too many ornaments which I don't like anyway lol
I have 3 chicken coops, 3 cow pens, 3 pig pens, 2 goat pens and 2 sheep pens. One of the sheep pens was bought by accident, I eventually got enough coins to fill it with 5 sheep. I never got around to buying the third goat and sheep pen because at that time I did not have enough coins. I now have plenty of coins but I would have to rearrange everything and figure out where to put them:p;)
never let it be said that I didn't use enough words lol
edit: I don't want anyone to think I have no decorations. I do, I spin that blasted wheel when ever I can and spend every one of my gift cards as I get enough to do so. I haven't bought a lot of decorations because some of them are downright ugly. If I win one and it is ugly, well it goes on the farm too, just not gonna pay for one
I have 2 chicken pens, 2 sheep and 1 lot of goats and I find these to be plenty. I do have 3 lots to cows and pigs. All 6 of the dogs and 6 horses and am happy with that. I only have 3 cats and not sure if I will get more. I rarely have excess milk so not wanting more cats to feed.
I am not in a hurry to level up so am fine with these.
I have all the animals and all of the pets. I wanted to finish the achievements for collecting for the animals as fast as possible so I bought them all. But,,if I had to start all over again, I wouldn't buy them all. Just 1 chicken coop, pig pen, sheep pen, and goat pen. I would buy all 3 cow pens though.
I love decorating my farm, so space or lack there of is a huge issue sometimes. I'd love to have back the space pens take up for more room.
I bought a second dog kennel and have ended up hiding it behind my barn and trees as I don't need it. After I bought the second sheep pen I realised I didn't need it, too late! Shame we can't sell them to people, or trade them in for something else.
I am level 54 and have one set of chickens and one set of goats, and two sets each of cows, pigs and sheep. I still wind up dumping some of my eggs if I'm playing a lot. The only time I need more goat milk is when I get a boat order for it and the excess is easy to buy. I didn't get all the animals because I wanted to save the space and I thought the chicken coops were kind of an eyesore, and to save coins of course. I have one of each of the pets and just don't really want to duplicate, they are fun to watch and give good items and experience. I do run out of eggs in the morning some times but they are easy to buy and cheap. I could probably get by with one set of sheep and one of pigs as I sell the excess quite often and it's easy to buy but this is a close call. I definitely would not need 3 sets. No regrets on the chickens and goats.
This is a great forum and very helpful to newbies, my first post.
I am on level 45 and have 3 of everything except goats. I have plenty of room for all my stuff. I don't like clutter so I never bought much of the holiday stuff.
I have all the pets and all the farm animals except only 9 goats-- I like to have multiples of 3 so 3 batches of feed are needed. In retrospect 6 goats would have been plenty. My 3rd chicken coop is in a far corner; those chickens must be pretty old because they seldom provide eggs. :D I don't regret getting them though.
i sure wish there would be another another pet introduced to fill the last horse stall! I'd like a mule or donkey.
Yup, I have all the animals available to me. Well, the ones that produce a product. Pet wise I have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 horses. Why??? Because I can! hehe I understand all the reasons not to, but I decided early in the game that I would buy them all and I have kept to that plan.
I have two coops with 10 chickens, two stys with 9 pigs, but the 9th was an accidental purchase, one goat pen with 4 goats, one pen with 5 sheep and two paddocks with 10 cows. Mostly I manage, bit sometimes sell eggs and bacon to Tilly and the gang, and sometimes have to buy milk, but I figure that keeps the DD economy going. I have two cats and one horse. I accidentally bought a second cat house and hide it out back of the farm behind the trees next to my smelters. I decided to go the the minimum amounts because I didn't want to find myself overstocked and constantly having to upgrade my barn. As it is, I have a 1000 space barn and it's always full!
I got all my animals when I start counting how many animal it takes to get a gift (in level 47). And there are 2 more reasons I'm glad to have all these animals:
- EXTRA STORAGE: bacon, Milk, Egg, Wool, Goat Milk are sitting there waiting for me to collect. In the mean time, my barn is full of cakes, juices, soup, sushi...
- STOCKPILLING: when I need 1 item to my barn full, animal products is a good choice because they are plenty and I can collect one by one. I only need enough food for my animals in barn and only 1 free space to collect ALL the eggs, milk, bacon, wool... that are waiting for me.
Am with Tiggerr and Meonhoc. As in all my farming, my thoughts and strategies have changed and evolved as I have moved up the levels, but as money has not been an issue for some time, having all the farm animals makes sense. I have gained pets as vouchers have allowed, for XP and free tools etc. I only have 2 horses and 1 dog to go, and the 2 horses thing is frustrating as we need another pet to fill the empty slot. I suggested a donkey several months ago, so MarySC I am with you on that one:)
I have the same as you and feel the same.
I didn't like the pets at first. But, thanks to this forum, I learned they give XP and other things. Now I have 3 dogs, 3 cats and 2 horses. I will get one more horse when I get enough purple vouchers. Those purple vouchers are far and few between for me. I'm not certain at this point if I will get any more animals than that.
No I do not have all the animals I could have. I am missing a goat, sheep and pig pen and yes I am fully aware of all the reasons why I should have them but I have no idea where to put them. I finished all those animal related achievements just fine without having all the animals.
With the reduced times of the feeds from the mastery stars it would be a little easier to keep up with making the animal feed. Before the feed mills got their mastery option it was quite the challenge keeping up with making the feed for all the animals especially if you didn't have all the slots.
Addicted to it but can't remember my lvl lol! I don't. I have 2 pets, a cat and a dog, 9 chickens, and 6 cows, pigs and sheep. I don't max out my animals straight away because spare eggs don't sell very well, and I usually end up having to sell them at market price. I can't keep up with getting food either, because you get 3 each I try and keep my animals numbers in the 3x table! Hehe
I have all of my farm animals but, I'm still getting all of my pets. Even though it isn't necessary to have all of the animals, I find that the upside is more valuable than the ample coins spent on them because: 1) the extra items can be sold regularly to regain the coins spent, 2) it let's you remember the times you were a lower level player and did need some of those items to be on sale and help them out, cheap or not, 3) if your items don't sell easily in the RSS, the visitors normally come by to ask for the items in your barn and silo anyway, further gaining coin. So, no it isn't necessary, but neither is a farm full of decorations. *shrugs*
GC: -+ MinaMi +-
At this point I'm leveling up faster than I can afford the new machines offered. So my coins go to them as soon as I can manage. I still have only 2 pens of each, 1 of goats because the second isn't available yet. I will also buy barn expansion items first. Haven't missed the extra animals yet. I am selling extra animal products constantly. I don't know what I will do when I have enough coins to buy more pens because I will have to chop down more of my precious trees to make space. Aaaaack. I'm a tree hugger.
