I would disagree, considering we didn't know if you were pulled over in January, April, or October from post #19 (when you first made the claim) all the way until post #237 (when you actually explained yourself).

No. The responses they are giving are trying to explain that one, solitary experience should not be definitive of the entire system. Has nothing to do with proof of the experience happening.
Like Tiler said, he can in no way draw a conclusion that driving a X time, on X day, in X vehicle, on X street, at X speed will result in a speeding ticket. In that same sense, you can't draw the conclusion that having a single experience of getting a toxic PM from a high rep player is indicative of what you would receive any time you give a downvote in the future.
Let’s stop and think about this. You can’t surely mean you wanted people to post publically about experiences that they ought be sharing privately with mods via the reporting feature? I can’t agree that’s a good idea. Even if people were able to recall the name and shame rule precluded specific identification, it would still contribute to an atmosphere of toxicity and exactly the opposite of the environment Smolson outlines where none are berated or bullied - which would be precisely what such accusations would be doing. We have mods for exactly these matters. If there were a group of people feeling that way then what they need is encouragement to use the report tool and let mods handle matters, rather than an audience for airing their private grievance in public.
In any case, this has nothing to do with the removal of neg rep, besides that a neg rep vote was previously one kind of thing one might have felt warranted mod attention as a rule breach.
very good points guys. sorry for sharing my experience after i was being asked. first given a hard time for not giving enough detail, then given a hard time for giving too much detail.
this is a no-win for me here.
regardless, i agree with the mods decision, would just like to see it taken further..
Where were you given a hard time for giving too much detail? I can't seem to find it, and there aren't all that many posts to search for it.
We respect that you agree with the decision. We just want to make sure the accusations of misconduct are actually founded.
I accepted your anecdote and progressed the discussion with a counter, to which you replied with a joke and no actual substance. I've done everything I can to give credence to your argument, and you're the one not taking it seriously. If you don't want someone to challenge your viewpoints, then I'll stop replying to you
I’d like to address the bolded part.
I’d like to see that too. However in a forum where threads berating fresh spawns are allowed to run and run (I can provide many examples of these if you wish), I’m not sure this is the correct approach. The comments via neg rep are just another medium. As I said in the beginning, people can do this in many ways such as PMs, VMs or on the threads themselves. I can’t remember which mod said it, but if you have a problem with the rep received then report the post and say so. I can’t see how this is such an issue if we follow the guidance.
Once again, it’s the forum users not the system which is the problem. The crux of the removal seems to be that the forumers will become less toxic - it is my opinion that it will have the opposite effect.
One question which may have been missed earlier, are these 100s of neg rep comments you have to deal with from new/alt users? If so, then the problem doesn’t go away. Grey rep, abusive comment...
I was saying to someone earlier, you have a very difficult job here considering the age range is from 13 (I think) to 113 and you need to consider the young and old. Not an easy juggling act so I appreciate the effort you guys put in.
