Yes, it would be against the rules and isn't directly the issue here anyway. Remember, private messages are still allowed and those can be reported with a simple click of the report button. The issue here is people leaving toxic comments in the comment part of down votes. The issue isn't people leaving toxic private messages. I wish we could just turn off the ability to leave comments and keep the up and down votes.

I'm not sure if any mod has come back after it's been mentioned, but in case I've missed it, can it at least be discussed that the downvote be brought back and remove the ability to leave comments? That seems like a perfectly feasible solution that would appease both sides of the discussion.

Without the downvote, it really is a kind of "everyone gets a trophy" type system.

Okay, fair enough. You have a bad experience with the FRS that you can't elaborate on for privacy reasons. I'll assume it's true, exactly as you presented it. My follow up to you is this: Is one instance of a bad experience really enough to ruin the entire thing for you? I can't fathom that. One bad experience is an outlier. Continuous bad experiences with multiple people at multiple times would be a different story

I'm not sure why, but I found myself going back to what I said on page 2. I feel it's relevant. I know that "not everyone" with high rep falls into the bully category. But I know it happens.

EDIT: and I am aware that I said "favoritism from mods", but really that should include all forum users, not just mods.

This implies that there is a systemic problem of what you experienced, and I have a very hard time believing that this is true, unless you can say this happened more than once with different people.

I was hoping more people would come forward with similar experiences. maybe only those with similar experience have already been banned or stopped using forums? maybe no one else has a similar experience. maybe this won't happen again because I have shared my eperience? I don't know, I don't care. if no one else has had this experience, this is wonderful, and makes me happy.

They're different statements though. You've come across a high rep poster who's a bully. I'll give you that. But even so, that does not mean that a high reputation makes it "easier to bully" or that you'll be liked more by the mods. You drawing that conclusion from that single data point is ignoring the numerous instances of it not happening.

I got pulled over once for speeding, 77 in a 70. There were a lot of variables that went into that, but I can't say I'm more likely to be pulled over in January, or at 8 in the morning, or just if that particular cop is out with the radar. I just don't have enough data to draw that conclusion. But I've driven on that strip of highway a lot, and that's the only time I've been pulled over. It was an anamoly, not something that ruins I-80 for me
