Has anyone made it to master/champion league without using gems, even on Spell and Barrack boost recently?
If you did, what TH lvl are you and what strategy did you use...
I have around 30 trophies left, I am in crystal trying to reach champion again. Finding it difficult to reach Master without gems.
I reached master without gems. Im a th 8. I used 8 drags 3 lightning and 20 minions. I waited the full 1.5 each attack.Quote:

Masters - yes, champion - no. Had to boost spells to maintain in master one. Im th 10.
Gems only save you time, so if you can stay online as long as required, you don't need any gems (the spell factory is your main constraint). I honestly don't remember, but I think I may have reached Masters 3 without using gems to boost anything a couple of weeks ago (I know I spent a few of those 1000 gems, afterwards, to push on to M2 by boosting my spell factory). Balloons and Minions was my strategy, trying to average one rage per battle so it's sustainable over a 3-4 hour session. Usually 16 balloons, the rest minions (TH9). My minions were only level 4 when I got to Masters. I could easily spend 20 minutes searching for a good battle, especially as I was still pretty new to the army so I was nervous about taking on battles for 50% I tended to only take fights where a 2-star was looking likely i.e. weak defenses, xbows down, TH not central, that kind of thing.
If you only have a few cups to go, you just need to hold your nerve and stay on for as long as it takes... it's not a good time to be changing your army! Just look hard for good fights, they do exist, even if they are hard to find sometimes (I'm back in C1 at the moment, and it seems so much easier now than it first did).
That is one of my goals, I will not pay for gems to get to champion... and... #1 PLAYER IN THE WORLD!!! (excluding builders)
I got to master by barching and gowiping for 100% totally without gems. After that got to 2975 with spell boostings, nothing else. I was a relatively new th9..
