I cannot understand why anyone expects any sort of response from SC. Remember this truth, SC as a company could care less about you or the horse you rode in on. They only care about your wallet! If they make you frustrated enough, you will spend real dollars to overcome said frustration. There really is a fine balance between causing frustration and real anger. This event snafu is simply a business decision that they know will frustrate folks but most of those folks will still spend money. If they actually cared about more than money then they would officially respond with a "sorry all, wrote that wrong " but their elitist God-complex attitude (that seems to be shared by a number of mods- go figure) will not even allow them to condescend down to the lowly serf who keeps opening their wallets and buying the lies. Hard truth, but truth nonetheless. SC is part of huge corporation that only has one thing on their minds - hard cold cash! And yes, even knowing this I still spend some cash, makes me a part of the problem, but I still like CoC.
I simply can't wait to see how much more will SC mislead us with events like this.
I will make hundreds of accounts in this forum if it makes SC finally explain why they misled us.
During this 4x clan war event how are we supposed to keep all the loot bonuses as it exceeds our treasury capacity?
You wont.
The bonus is up to 4x. The max is your treasury capacity.
See this thread: https://forum.supercell.com/showthre...ury-discussion
Please don't say things like "Hard truth, but truth nonetheless" when it is nothing but your speculation and belief.
There is nothing at all correct in any of what you wrote, but I know I'm not going to change your perception, and I have no issue with you posting your beliefs and opinions, so long as you don't try to present them as hard facts.
I am quite certain that the so-called misleading was purely a case of not thinking it through. They should have put what is there now in the sticky (i.e. "up to the limit of your treasury") in the initial sticky, and in the in-game news and description.
Making more forum accounts will do absolutely nothing to persuade SC to do anything, and will just result in you being banned from the forums, so I suggest you don't try it.
You won't get 4x, the loot you get is mostly to get max treasury, and for your clan getting 4x XP.
Its so clearly the case it was just a sloppy error, makes zero sense to advertise 4x bonus knowing people would not get it and get angry, would have made more sense just to do 2 times bonus and everyone woul have been happy anyway.
Sometimes supercell acts in a way that raises my eye brows and ire, this is not one of those times.
Guys its just another example of sloppiness from Supercell regarding the rollout of something, not to mention the severe lack of communication over said 'gaffe'.
SC have a huge history of rolling things out, there being an oversight which upsets many, and then refusing to acknowledge the problem or set it right. I think its time we just accept, this is who they are, they aren't going to change anytime soon, and we'd just better get used to it. But it doesn't mean I'm going to stop sending them reminders on these forums everytime it happens just so they KNOW it isn't actually acceptable in the business world.
disclaimer: While this 'oversight' is extremely small, and me, myself and I don't give two rats about losing a few million resources with a war win - there is a sinister undercurrent here which I want to highlight:
Something thing I've thought of ...for years they've been high on the top grossing list, so high, these small oversights upset many people - but so many people still spend it doesn't affect their bottom line. Now that the game is dropping off the top10 charts in many countries ( as a mature game, it is to be expected) these oversights which affect their customers might just start a snowball effect with regards to spending dropping off even more...even if it doesn't happen, they should always make sure they keep the majority of their customers happy. NO MATTER HOW SILLY THEIR CUSTOMERS ARE. A golden rule, no?
If I was SC I'd think of these things and be sure to address/fix any oversights made, immediately, in order to make sure the above scenario doesn't happen or at least slows as much as possible.
Just change the promotion to "the 1.6365X event" because that is what I got - I did the Math!
I went to bed straight after posting so have only just caught up with the debate that ensued.
It wasn’t meant to be an accurate portrayal more a generalised impression of how things in these threads go. Rather than a long detailed post I tried to make my point succinct. Vikingchief got it anyway.
To put it in context, the day before there was a thread about the maintenance break starting 10 minutes before the end of the golem event. This was very similar to this thread where the same people defended the decision, it wasn’t a big deal, you had plenty of time, be grateful for anything etc etc.
For me personally both issues were not a big deal at all. I had completed the golem event and I have no need of the spoils of war. It was purely an observation.
However, it did make me smile, reading this thread, that the first person who responded to my post was the person who defended SC to the hilt in the maintenance thread.
You are absolutely right. Companies like Microsoft, Intel, Cisco, Apple, Tesla, Facebook would never release a product that is not 100% ready and then have to issue patches or fixes or apologies. If they ever did they would be out of business so fast they would have no impact on business or life.
Bad communication, poorly thought out, lack of QC. They are just trying to fit in.
And your generalized impression was stated inaccurately, at least the part about gasps. Below is a prior post of mine after I reviewed the start of this thread (and the part about my opinion was me quoting my posts stating I think SC should have named the event more clearly or even better expanded the treasury to actually hold the winnings).
And just now I went back and read the maintenance break thread you referenced and guess what I found? I found 10+ posts from non-gasp people saying it was OPs fault for not doing his attacks earlier. One gasp sort of fell on that side but in a more polite manner basically saying it wasn't really unfair, these things happen. The second gasp to post took the other position, explaining why he thought it was SCs fault. The third gasp to post was me and I only said hopefully when we come out of the break we find the event extended (and it was). So, 3 gasps. One on one side, one on the other and me not taking a side but noting we hopefully will get an extension of the timer.
Your generalized impression of gasps was incorrect on both threads.
Even the mod you referred to in the maintenance thread wasn't quite what you describe here. That mod specifically said it was NOT a good decision for SC to plan a maintenance break to take place just before an event ends. He did point out sometimes there are emergency unplanned things that happen so players should try to avoid waiting until the last minute, but he continuously clarified he didn't think it was a good thing on SC's part this time.
I'm sorry, but I disagree. People act like Super Cell is evil because they make money, but they are a for-profit company, with share holders to whom they answer. With no bottom line, there is no game.
That being said, I don't see greed as a motivation of theirs. Profit, sure, but not greed. There is nothing in the game which can be acquired with gems that can not be had without gems.
They make decisions smartly, and they are slow to make drastic changes, but at the same time they are willing to make fundamental changes that are better for the game in the long term, even if it means a momentary drop in revenue.
If you read/watch interviews with them you can tell that they are passionate about making games. The revenue comes as a by-product. If you make the game great, the money will come on its own.
I look at Super Cell very much in the same way I look at Apple. Guess what... Love them or hate them, they're both here to stay, which is not to say that they're incapable of making mistakes, but they're willing to do what it takes to keep their games healthy.
My clan uses new attack styles and we try new things out with this 4x as our treasury would fill if we won a 4x bonus, so we try new strats and don't really care if we lose, as the bonus is massive still if you lose.... I would suggest to people who are that upset, try new things with these kinda of bonuses, that way you don't lose any loot when losing the war
I don't know why anyone would assume it would overflow, it fills up your treasury which is a good bonus, hit a harder base than your normally would if its that big of a deal
Seriously? You think those companies have never slipped up?
Tesla has had to release software patches for their cars to fix mistakes that were causing their cars to crash... As in actually crash into other vehicles, not just a computer malfunction. Intel turned down the opportunity to be the supplier of processors for Apple's iPhone, leading Apple to begin developing their own chips, which may very well end up replacing Intel processors in Apple's Mac products. Facebook is literally on trial right now for some of the things they've done. Cisco has failed in certain aspects which have caused customers to turn to the competition as well, and Microsoft is so full of examples that I almost have to think your post was an attempt at satire.
For a company to succeed does not require them to be incapable of making mistakes. It requires them to learn, adapt, and adjust after making them.
Just a few nitpicks...
The Cube was never touted as a gaming platform.
iPhone 5, a mistake? Hahahahaha!!!! Like every other iPhone, it was more successful than every model before it.
Apple TV may not have taken off like some think it should, but if it was released by any other company, as their primary product line, that company would be considered Highly successful. They refer to Apple TV as 'their hobby,' but watch as they slowly disrupt the television industry over the next few years in the same way they did with the music industry.
Mods: Please don't merge this into the sticky thread. I looked through about 20 pages in that thread and couldn't find an answer.
Question: We have this nice clan war anniversary deal going on where you get 4x war loot for winning a war. Nice! 6mm loot or so. Except our treasuries can only hold 3.6mm or so, depending on your clan's war level. The rest is lost to the CoC gods.
So what exactly is the point of this promotion? This is a serious question -- I've been around a long time with this game, but this action from SC baffles me.
Maybe is just the way the game was meant to be played:confused: </s>
Oops. Found a thread in bugs too: https://forum.supercell.com/showthre...war-loot-bonus
It also gives 4x clan XP. Decent amount of loot is lost but also helps new clans grow faster. That’s about all I can think of.
the losers get 4x loot as well which all fits in their treasury. It seems like an oversight on their part but maybe the event design team didn't ask the programmers how easy it was to remove the limits on the treasury storage and just assumed it could be done like on regular storages.
Or maybe they just forgot :)
My thought is to encourage more clans to war. Even if you lose (30% loot) with the 4x bonus you're still getting a good amount of loot. It's a good way to get more people warring for the 4th Clan Ware Anniversary.
Why are we still talking about this? If you win your war, you won't get the 4x loot. Case closed. All you can do is clear your treasury before you get the loot, and be happy that it will fill up completely after the war ends.
To help f2ps max out their Town Hall
Marketing.
Yeah would be happy with 4x loot again, but war search for final war for 2nd clan under 4x event ran for over 7 hours without finding a match up. This was a 10v10 search with a combination of extra accounts (i.e., rushed, .5s, minis and a TH2). War searches seemed to take longer and longer on this clan under the event. Not sure if throwing TH2 in for last search threw it off or what. Last 2 wars here ended 30/30 ties. Any kind of matchup still under 4x event would have been nice.
So once SuperCell fixes the clouds issues, maybe they can look at updating war searches so once they get over a couple hours you still get a matchup.
Yes and yes.
But also I do realize that SC will not answer. This is a community discussion forum after all, not official SC support. My question was to the community, to see if anyone had any good ideas.
The answer "marketing" above seems a pretty reasonable explanation to me. Ah well.
It likely does. The bigger the spread, the longer it typically takes. Not many clans out there are inserting TH2s at the bottom. A couple wars ago, I started a 25v25 search that include 4-5 TH5s which put us from TH11-5. The search ran for about an hour before I killed it. Took out all the low level bases, leaving us with TH8 and above and we found a match in 15 mins.
I doubt SC changes anything with this because it kind of thwarts roster engineering of wars.
This is the reason why.
Most of the recent add-ons to this game recently have been to help lower Town halls reach max level faster.
-Wall rings to help upgrade walls
-Books to complete upgrades faster
-4x war loot to help upgrade defences
-Runes to help fill storages to keep builders busy
-Boost/training potions. Same as above.
-Builder potions to speed up upgrade times
Its clear to see that Supercell's long term goal is to move more players towards end game faster.
More players pushing to legends = less clouds.
Thx 2222 & xc3ss1v30n3. I will take a look. Don't normally run wars on this clan anymore, but was just trying to get the bonus loot on some extra accounts without having too many accounts in main war. Smaller wars are easier to get attacks in when you have too many accounts.
So can I complain about the 4x event already being over now and ask them to bring it back or tweak the current war loots to make the wars more worth playing in again.
It's a little disappointing that Darian has avoided these threads including the biggest thread I've seen in awhile outside of update threads.
Why would there be allowed 4X war loot if you simply can’t hold the loot? I’m a maxed TH11 with maxed CC and I can only hold 3.6 million in my treasury. I won 6.5 million in war but it only lets me hold the max. I guess I shouldn’t complain but I had plans to push my final walls with it.
I mean, TBF, with the 3 million that you "lost," you couldn't have even purchased 1 wall. Yeah, getting that extra bit would have been nice, but I think we should be happy with a full treasury from completely empty after just 1 war. Not sure where else we're going to make 3.6 million gold/elixir and 17K DE in just 2 raids.
Some people can hold 4x if they are attacking low and/or if they lose the war, but I get your point. I suspect SC just didn’t think of it. I suspect they thought, “hey 2x loot is appreciated so let’s do 4x loot for the anniversary celebration”, without realizing it actually wasn’t going to give winners 4x and was going to irritate a lot of players. Then, once it became known for sure that the loot wasn’t allowed to overflow (when the first few wars finished after the event started and players noted it here), it was too late for SC to change it because then it would be different for some wars than the ones that had already started.
These are just my guesses.
Too late for them to do anything about it by then. If they reduced it to 2x people would have been complaining. And they couldn't rewrite both client and server ends for a mandatory update before the event started to allow it to store the loot.
They could have acknowledged it however, when people first pointed it out
I recall more of a question of will it overflow, but either way your point is a good one, they should have seen it. It may have been too late like Onyx said, but either way I also agree with him that they should’ve responded. People are very willing to forgive admitted mistakes.
I think they probably don't care that some people were not able to take advantage of the 4x loot. I have in my cc right now 2/1 books of spells because I got one from an event reward. If that was allowed to overfill then why not war loot?
Why aren't clan castle storage limits waived during 4X events?
An example; one of my TH8s got a war bonus of 3.11M gold, 3.11M elixir, and 12,384 DE, but the clan castle can only hold 1.68M of gold, 1.68M of elixir, and 8,400 DE!
I "lost" almost 50% of my 4X bonus!!!!!
Take this across my 10 bases in war and the numbers are huge.
Jeez. Thanks Supercell for another crappy oversight regarding main village event. We just won our first war for 4x war event. Of course upon realizing no one was able to collect their promised loot, I came here to the forums to see if there were any answers or information from supercell.
Yes you can make excuses like oh well it wasn’t even another wall piece, but it’s just another letdown in the main village that’s making it more apparent that there just isn’t a lot of thought or foresight going into the main reason a lot of us are still here playing this game....as in our main villages.
Maybe if as much planning and development was going into these events as the silly builder village that many seem to not care about, the clan games, and the money grabbing features like the trader these issues could be avoided.
There are people who see the glass half empty, there are also people who prefer to see the glass half full.
Currently there is a huge 57 pages thread discussing about this. The thread started when the event starts and currently the thread still continue with the event already ended. It's a good bet both sides are not going to agree with each's views on this topic. Just agree to disagree. Take whatever you get. Move on..
It was the FOURTH anniversary of clan wars, so they did FOUR times clan exp and FOUR times bonus, and yet people complain.
It's just a way of introducing younger players to the real world and the little concept of taxes. CoC is more than a game; it's a life lesson.
Of course they complain it was advertised as 4x war bonus. that’s what people expect.
Communication should be clear and simple not needed us to read the small print to understand it’s not actually as advertised.
I think supercell should of already made this into a sticky post to avoid some of th backlash you are seeing
Hey, atleast you get a full treasurie
They should atleast waived the treasury capacity for this event only. I lost some amount too
same logic with clan games. do they waive the treasury cap to allow you to claim all DE/elixer/gold? no right.
just be thankful for a full treasury
That's not what I expected. I didn't think it would actually be 4X because of treasury capacity issues. Many others thought so too since before the games even started, people were asking about whether the treasury would be expanded to hold extra loot. No one from supercell came out to clearly state: "yes you will get 4x loot regardless of what your treasury can hold".
My clan won two wars during this event and I made sure my cc was empty for both war wins and I still lost out on approx, 3 million gold/elixir and 30 thousand Dark Elixir!
thanks Supercell for under delivering on promised goods more par for the course!
Lol love this thread. Thanks for the free stuff but boo you for not giving me more.
Is this thread still ongoing even though the event is already ended?
Come back next year when we had 5th Clan War anniversary event and maybe we will continue the discussion for 5X war loot bonus event.
The event isn't ended until all wars started during it have finished.
I have a feeling you may be right. Though after this time, they will hopefully make it more clear up front in any similar event.Quote:
Come back next year when we had 5th Clan War anniversary event and maybe we will continue the discussion for 5X war loot bonus event.
You didn't lose anything. If there had been no event and you had won your war, you wouldn't have ended up with a full treasury.
Yet, you won your war and did end up with a full treasury. Did you do anything different to get that ? No, just went to war as normal. Yet people still aren't happy and complain that the free resources they got aren't enough. Talk about take, take, take !!!
Whats the point of 4X event if you can't even get 4X loot. Hypocrisy at its best. I know we dont lose anything but why hype things up when you dont even deliver what you say!?!?!
Reality check: Super Cell is part of a big corporation that only exists to bring money in to their shareholders. Maybe they had a different philosophy when they started but cash took care of that years ago the first time they sold themselves. And yes, they have an absolutely elitist attitude shared by some mods- look at the forum rules - there is absolutely no place to go when a mod is absolutely wrong- and it is such a secret dark elitist world the rules say you can't even shine a hint of public light on the darkness.
Also, as I said, there is a fine balance between them letting us know they are treating us like serfs and actually doing it. There is a ton of money in the psychology of video games and they know just how far they can push. They may lose one or two percent of their players but they also bank on the fact that they will gain five percent or more.
Business 101 lesson:
EVERY decision they make has a cost benefit analysis attached to it. They are NEVER truly altruistic, if they were they would be a charity living on donations or they would go out of business. THAT, my friend, is the hard cold truth of business. I dare you to prove anything in post that is not a true statement. Of course you can't due to the elitist rules about the forum and mod communication (cant even talk about support answers for some unknown and understandable reason).
Since I understand this, and I don't even like kool-aid:), I still like the game and still spend money on it and yes, still complain when things are wrong and point out things that are bad. So, please do condescend to me just because the truth is not liked or appreciated.
Edit: I for one have absolutely zero care about the 4x loot issue. I am thrilled that my cc gets full even on a loss as well as on a win.
I never said Super Cell was evil or greedy, I was literally just stating truth you learn in business 101. The purpose of any for-profit corporation is to make money, it's how they do it that changes from company to company. SC is passionate about gaming because it is very profitable ($800 million+in profits last year). I have no issues with profits, I just don't like the elitist attitude that they seem to have adopted-again- look at the forum rules to prove that one, and look at how they are one of the worst companies in the area of communication, imo, to add to that proof. I am happy they are taking in the cash- it keeps the servers going, I just do not appreciate their attitude even when I do contact support. It is very elitist and this comes from someone who lives very comfortably.
Without reading through 59 pages of this, has this been corrected? We were jipped out of half our bonuses from the 4x loot also since our treasuries can't hold that much.
Is this another one of your "facts" because it seems to run counter to what you literally posted.
Do you have actual experience on which you're basing these statements? I've met the employees at Supercell and I can say from first-hand experience that you don't have a clue what you're talking about. As long as you keep passing off the warped lessons you learned in business 101 as actual facts about actual real-world people that you've never met and likely never will, you shouldn't be giving anyone a reality check.
Less arguing, more finding out how we can get the rest of our loot, peeps! :p
We've been on a massive loss streak. One war win in the past month, so from that perspective this 4x event is amazing! We win even if we lose. Funny enough we're going to win the war we are in now. No one cares that we are "losing" loot. We're going to through a party with the win!
Nothing has been confirmed and no, nothing like this has happened before. Still, the event has expired and only wars that began before the event ended are still eligible. It'd be unfair for SC to come back allow it now having not allowed all the previous war participates to overflow.
Yes Sharky - plenty of experience on which I base my statements - thanks for asking. I have interacted with support many times that left me shaking my head in disgust with their responses - ofc I cannot post those interactions here. I have dealt with mods - on a personal level that left me wondering if they had a clue about how elitist they sound and act. If you actually read what I posted originally you will see I never complained or even stated SC was greedy - they are part of a mega corporation that has one focus - CASH - that is a fact - look at their financial reports. I am not against this fact, it is just a fact. I was responding to people who are upset for the way the community seems to be ignored much of the time - especially if they do not toe the party line. We should have zero expectation of anything from Super Cell unless it is for their profit - that is what they do! What excuse did they give for not fixing the hero regen issue of the past - too much work/money? What excuse do they give for not fixing current issues - too much work/money - it is not cost effective to them to actually fix clouding and other issues people are complaining about on the forums. As has been stated many times - we are a very small portion of the SC customer base and the profits they get from the majority of customers is the single fact that drives their corporate decisions. I have no doubt good people and even great and kind people work for SC - but that does not change the corporate identity nor the basis for business decisions. CSR is relatively new in the business world but, CSR is a thing only because it brings in the cash flow. Companies change direction, focus, sometimes entire models based on where the profits are.
really xc3xx1v30ne - no need for personal attacks just because you do not agree. As a matter of, I know from personal experience that making a broad statement that implies people who do not think like you are wrong or altered is an actionable event per the Mods themselves - so a report has been made. Of course, since your impression matches the company line I am pretty sure nothing will happen. - see - another example of elitism if my guess is correct. If I am wrong I will gladly apologize.
What we need to understand is that SC is a corporation with the goal of bringing in cash. They do not have to care what you or I think or say unless it actually affects their bottom line. I see customer comments and complaints on a regular basis and yes, we make decisions to change based on the cost-effectiveness of that change. If a small number (proportionally) have a certain complaint that the majority does not seem to share - zero change is made. Really - imo, this is a smart business and common sense decision.
Again, let me state, for the record - I am happy SC make hundreds of millions of dollars - it is what is needed so I can keep playing a game I love. I do not love or even like many of the decisions made by SC the corporation, including the rules of this forum, but I do love CoC - I really can't even stand candy clash but, since it is part of CoC I deal with it. It is okay for me to be a realist and not fall all over myself in adoration for a FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION. I can enjoy part and not like parts as well - I call it being well rounded.
True there is a distinction
Are you saying they SC coud not overflow them ?okay fill my storages with my loot that was awarded for my participation.
It was billed 4x loot and xp. whats the point of 4x loot
It seems it was not
Call it what you want mate its just POOR
Cheers
Everyone upset with over flowing treasuries must be thrilled now that we are back with good old 1-1 war bonus and don't need to worry about filling up our treasury with a single war victory.
This leads me to my thoughts on this:
IMHO the amount of loot lost (/not given/promised/insert word here) isn't the real issue here. The 'be happy you still got full treasury' advice here is just attacking the strawman. Can I personally look on the bright side about the loot and hence full treasury I received?... Yes.
It's a question of Supercell's integrity here. About misleading its players. Saying one thing but not quite being true to their word. Am I satisfied with the amount of Supercell's response that in my obviously limited perspective I can see? So far, no.
From what I understand these forums exist to promote discussion (both positive and negative as long it's polite and within the rules), hence this suggests that we have the ability to complain/critique/disagree (again, within the limits of the forum rules).
And so here I will consider the issue at hand:
Saying 4x war loot (in my case taking ~3mil gold for example) and not getting that loot (In my case ~2mil gold, a loss/non-existence/again-insert-word-here of ~1 mil) is still not getting 4x loot and (what I'm using logic to say here is that it) is therefore misleading.
The onus IMHO appears to be on Supercell.
I think it's a fair assumption to say that Supercell has the capacity to do at least the absolute minimum to make it up to players.
There are examples of others which do things all the time in response to all number of inconveniences and mistakes that affect players that are their fault (I won't go further/say who in accordance with Main Forum rule 6 on here).
Do I think Supercell should do something? IMHO yes, I think that it would be a courtesy to players. The loot amounts shouldn't be the premise upon which to make it up to people, it should be integrity.
I think even more so if this has happened before (I have no way of knowing if it has but I'm simply stating).
Overall, I'm disappointed that this has happened with no apparent consequence (again, in my limited perspective) but I'm still going to play the game etc. However, the relative significance/insignificance of the issue doesn't change my opinion on its injustice.
(I feel the need to make it clear again that all the above is just me expressing my current opinion on this within my obviously limited perspective, and I mean no impoliteness towards Supercell or anyone here therein. Clash on )
Well written and thought out. I don't mind that it doesn't overflow. However, clarification in the release notes and in the in game news should have have occurred before it started. That's all that was needed. We lost our first war so I got all the loot. 2nd is looking good so will lose some. No big. I don't feel like supercel owes me anything but a sorry for the confusion would be nice.
