The rate of success seems pretty random. I've had it take more than 50 taps/reloads and I've had it take 2. I don't know if it really helps, or if its all mental, but if I get to 20+ and have not opened the box I move to a new farm.

Just ran a little experiment with the locked box thing. I accidentally used diamonds twice (old habits are hard to break) but didn't include that in my tally. Here's what I collected in a 30 min window:

It has been working just fine for me. I just tried it again to make sure. I don't think it's a bug. It's just that when you shut down the game before you have confirmed the transaction, it is voided.

I have found this to take a really long time to get the boxes to open. It hasn't been worth the effort for me. I find that working the fields constantly repays my time better. It doesn't have to be just wheat.

I agree, it can be tedious. And it depends on what you are looking for. If you want expansion materials, or mining tools you are better off harvesting. But you can't get vouchers or diamonds that way.

Good point. I haven't been playing long enough to want lots of vouchers. Just the purple ones to buy more big trees! Love the trees more than the pets. Hehe.

the best tip, though, I saw I think yesterday. I had never thought to fish selectively, dropping the line until my cast attracts a fish with a small circle, therefore rare. Wow! Since then I am getting much better fish.

Can you elaborate on the fishing tip. I tried to find fish with circles after I read this. How many times do you have to cast a lure to attract one of these? Do you need a particular lure?

BonRae, you are not the only high level player who didn't know. I've been passing the word around on this since late May or early June, but it continually went unnoticed except by a very few until recently. It's such a great thing, I guess folks just didn't believe me because I was a newbie. I don't know.

I learned quickly from the great folks on this forum, not to X out the box, so you could refresh the farm and try again. I While playing around with that I discovered the pattern of the red toolbox "regeneration" by returning to one's own farm shortly after I started playing back in mid May and posted about it several times on threads asking what others had made of it, and if they could give more details to help me understand it better. I was thoroughly confused why no one had ever pointed it out before nor why no one was confirming my posts. I couldn't figure out why it worked for me when no one else acknowledged it and began to believe I had a lucky glitch in my game.

I was just about to stop posting on it for fear that SC would fix my precious glitch, when one person did respond and she told me the part about how it will reappear on your own farm (wish I could remember her name). I tried her discovery and it worked for me, and she tried mine and it worked for her, so I now knew it wasn't a glitch. After a couple of days of experimenting to be sure of the pattern of regeneration, I started posting about the toolbox "algorithm" (as I was referring to it for a while) and how to keep it from shutting down, whenever folks asked how to find more or complained they couldn't find any.

Still, surprisingly few people seemed interested or even paid attention until September when I posted a shorter version of the one above several times. I only put it all into the full version above a few weeks ago. I guess putting it all together that way was more comprehensible than the way I was posting prior. Anyway, since about September, word has spread a bit and now, with CheddarLimbo reviving it, it's spreading much, much more as are all the great tips on this wonderful thread.

Just look at this thread and see how many have, in just a few hours, are reaping the benefits of sharing any and everything discovered with each other. It's like that old shampoo commercial, where Susan told two people and they told two people and so on and so on. LOL

It's truly amazing how spotting one little pattern, telling someone else who tells someone else, and so on can help so many to improve their enjoyment of HD. I can't wait to try some of the tips on here, especially the airplane mode, even though I'm still not quite sure how that works but I'll figure it out. It would be interesting to track down the first person who figured this out and find out how they did. I mean, who'd think of airplane mode? Same with all the great tips I've learned here. :) So much brainstorming goes on here to. Experiment with bits and pieces to find out patterns and algorithms....we've got some great threads going on trying to track fish catching patterns and how to up your chances of getting a gold voucher. Gotta love this forum and the fantastic folks who roam it,
