Since you have to return to your farm in between each chest, I usually start a little wheating while I'm there. It takes about two minutes to get the box to open, which is just enough time for your wheat to grow back and get harvested again. Synergy!

I also recommend using Greg's farm as your recurring farm of choice. I find that more often than not, the box will appear very close to his farm house, making finding it a lot easier.

Yes, I discovered the joy of using Greg's farm about a week ago. There are only about 4 areas that the box will ever appear so it makes it very easy to find - near/behind the house, on the road, by the wool machine and by the gazebo thing ;)

Hi Macpuddleduck, your not just a good neighbour you're a mirror image of how I farm. I too close down at night so I have ample for my boat order in the morning. This is the only thing that keeps me from my farm

Haven't blitzed the red box for ages( what with new stuff) so decided to CTRB ( chase the red box) this morning.My rewards were

Coins 30,549
planks x2
axes x2
wood x2
TNT x1
saws x1
bolts x2
screws x2
green vouchers x4

19 boxes would have cost 57 diamonds to open. All while doing kids breakfast, bedrooms & showers. Yes my iPad is strapped to me ! Lol:cool:

Hi, does this trick still work? I used to do it all the time and only accepted the item if it was diamonds (yes, I'm a greedy one, lol). I found out about making sure u don't tap any other part of the screen the hard way:rolleyes: But I want to know when last u tried this trick. I noticed after the Halloween update, I lost 2 sets of diamonds trying this and I was careful! My sister that used to use the trick also noticed the same thing after the update. And I haven't had the nerve to try again. So if anyone can still confirm that this bug/trick hasn't been sorted out, I'll be glad to know so I can resume my diamond hunt. Have 14 diamonds at the mo and I'm itching to employ Tom:o

I'm not sure it could be shared freely on forum like the mystery box trick. I add a youtube link. If any Mod or Moderator find it inappropriate, remove it then.

In short, you stop Hay Day to tell the server what you are doing. Don't forget to force quit the app BEFORE you switch on the connection.

The mystery box tricks worked fantastically this morning!! Many thanks! Got diamonds and lots of usefulexpansion stuff. But since 1 hour, no box would open anymore. When I had counted 48 attemps, I forced atopped the app and will start all over again. The counter might freeze from time to time?

Btw, cant do it with Gregs farm because the app still freezes when I use friend list to direct to a farm (since Halloween and got worse with winter), ipad2, but I choose a pretty empty farm from friends calling help.

I have 2 friends who have filled every single square inch of their farms, so chests appear only on the driveway. They are my "go-to" farms for chests, and as both are at the extreme left of my friend bar they are very easy to get to as well! :D

Have been trying it most of the day, very successful.

This morning it was about every 6th box, but now I am visiting farms and about every 20/25th box is an opener:( just me or has something changed to change the frequency??

I've repeated this over so many times and in so many different ways since May that I've decided on the following to be my "stock" reply to this query from now on. (saves on typing):

Most red toolboxes will be locked with random ones opening. It's the luck of the die. Here are a few tips for toolboxes to increase your chances of success:

1) On YOUR farm: Tap the X if the box is locked and it will borrow underground and often reappear and may just be unlocked this time. Sometimes, it will reappear twice. The toolbox generator works a bit differently on your farm than on other's farms and won't shut down when you X out.

2) On ANOTHER's farm: NEVER click the X...doing so shuts down the toolbox generator for a time. ALWAYS click OUTSIDE the menu anywhere. This will close the menu without shutting down the toolbox generator, so you'll continue to get one on each farm you visit. If you X out, the box burrows underground and the generator takes a while to reset, which could be anywhere from 5-30 minutes.

3) I you do get lucky to find an unlocked box, be sure to return to your own farm for just a few minutes. Go fishing, collect finished production, farm a bit, whatever. Collecting from an unlocked box, shuts down the generator for a few moments while it "reloads". This way, you'll be assured of finding a box on each and every farm you visit and have more chances to catch unlocked ones.

If you have trouble finding the red box, keep an eye out for the sparkles that spurt out now and then that indicate where it's hiding. If you still can't find it, try refreshing the farm you are visiting and it will move, hopefully someplace more visible..................same can be done on a relatively empty farm that has been cleared of trees. The boxes are so easy to find.

Like many, learned something new here today! I'm a level 62 player and had no knowledge of the tip outlined above by Cricks. I've burned lots of diamonds on locked boxes. I must admit, some times I can be a bit impatient - it's great to know I have an option!!
