Valkyrie the forgotten and unused unit.

I'm just going to lay down the facts.
It costs 180k to get a level 4 Valkyrie.
Valkyrie's splash damage is 1 tile radius.
Takes 15 minutes to train her.
Level 4 training cost is 160 elixer.
Level 4 Valkyrie has a DPS of 124.
Level 4 Valkyrie hitpoints is only 80 higher than a giant, yet she is free roaming like barbarians.
Her splash damage when attacking bases is rarely noticeable or even helpful.
She is suggested to be good in defence, but when compared to a wizard (housing space 4) who has a higher DPS than one singular Valkyrie why would you use her?

Now I'm not going to suggest stupid things like she targets defences. Though it would make her still less powerful than hog riders due to their ability to not jump walls (Yes I know about Jump spells, but their pointless to waste on farming, or on something like a Valkyrie when hunting trophies).

What I'm suggesting is.
A 5th level to the Valkyrie. This can improve her greatly and may even make her more playable, as she isn't a bad unit. But her cost of training, time of training, research costs. Well makes her less of a valuable unit for her stats compared to say giants(Housing space 5). Who may have less damage than Valkyrie's but target defences.
Her training cost for a level 4 (maybe level 5 if it's accepted as an idea) should be reduced to something more like 80 elixer. A level 4 hog rider (Housing space 5) only costs 45 elixir to train and is widely (I'm not sure as to since witches release and their reductions in stats etc..) accepted as a brilliant unit, and was dominating the game.

Her research costs for level 2-4 shouldn't be anywhere near as high as 180k dark elixir. Hog riders are 140k for 2-5, Witches are 75k, granted they only have one level. But for that one level to make them probably the best unit in the game only costs 75k is mental.
I propose her research cost should be more like 120k (Yes that would be less than Hog riders, and yes they're classed higher in the barracks) But she has one less level. If She did get a 5th level I would say 180k (depending on other factors of improvements such as DPS improvement, HP improvement etc..) could be a more reasonable use of dark elixir.

A change in splash damage radius.
I'm under the impression she has the highest radius of splash damage. Even in defence though, she can't hide behind walls like archers/wizards can. I mean this argument can be rephrased as in defence would you rather have barbarians with higher health and dps in your clan castle if you get attack or would you rather have archers, with lower health and dps but the can stay behind a layer of walls making them live a lot longer. Thus changing the outcome of the attack on your base.

So from this I propose her splash damage radius is improved to 3 from 1.
This doesn't seem drastic as it would still be a lot of attacks from her to take out a mass of tier 1 troops.
From this benefit, her attacking standards might be slightly more improved as she will occasionally be able to hit 2-3 things. This wont be significant (rarely) to the outcome of a battle, but it would give a slight boost to her usage of splash damage.

I'm suggesting a slight tweak with her stats. Only a slightly increase, for example level 4 124DPS and 1k HP to something more desirable like 140DPS and 1.2K HP. Again not a massive increase (as I'm trying to stay realistic) but I feel as for offence her main comparison is the giant. (I don't see the Valkyrie ever being used for High trophy gameplay unless a major benefit is added to her) So when you compare the Giant level 6 to the Valkyrie level 4 she just doesn't weigh up with her training time, DPS, HP, Elixir cost, Research cost and housing space.

TL;DR
A 5th level.
Research cost changed from 180k (for level 1-4) to more like 120k
A slight boost in DPS and HP.
Splash damage radius increase from 1 to 3.
Cost of training reduced from 160 dark elixir (Level 4 Valkyrie) to something like 80 dark elixir.
A 15-30% boost in DPS and HP.

Things I see fit for the Valkyrie
I see the housing space as perfectly acceptable if other changes are made.
I see the time training is perfectly acceptable is dark elixir costs are lowered.
I see the targeting of the Valkyrie is perfectly acceptable if she gets other boosts.

This is what I would love to see suggested to supercell, any feedback is appreciated.

I must say I agree. Whenever I'm looking at high level bases just for fun I always check the army camps for possible attack strategy inspiration. I've looked at many bases in this way and the one unit I've never, not once seen in an army camp is the Valkyrie. I've never heard it mentioned in attack strategies, my younger relative doesn't even know what they're called (he calls them 'axe girls'), heck, I've never even seen the word on these forums until now.

Valkyries need a buff. =3

I think the reason no one's really complained about them is no one's really thought about why they don't use them lol.

I've spoken to a few people in my clan about it, If the training time was reduced to say 5 minutes.
The cost of dark elixir per Valk for the output of their DPS and HP (with no targeting of buildings)
Isn't worth it. I'm not bothered with the time, if I was I would train them overnight, or if I'm having a shower or whatever.
So would a lot of people. There's generally no game play mid trophys (Crystal league) High trophys (2800+) or farming. That has any use for the Valk's cons . Farming cons being the cost of the troop, high trophys being the weak DPS/HP and irrational attack pattern. Crystal league, just having many, many better, quicker to train, cheaper and just generally more effective methods to attack with.

Anyway I agree, they need some boosting if I'm to upgrade to them

A clanmate did an all-valk-attack to a TH10 base, is incredible the damage a group of maxed Valks can do.

In my opinion, the housing space, the training time, and the DE training cost is what makes them unworthy.

I agree that the housing space, training time and DE training cost suck.
But the reason I'm especially against changing the housing space is clan clan castle reinforcements.
If you can fit more Valk's in your CC then you're defence will ultimately be better.
Were as if you simply upgrade the Valk's DPS and HP, they'll still be an improved unit but wont wreck large clumps of enemies attacking your base with their 1 radius splash damage.

E,g

Valks change from 8 housing space to 6.
A typical player has a CC of 25.
That's 3 Valks at 8 housing space.
If it changes to 6 housing space, that's 4 Valks.
That extra Valk could really effect the battle if there's a lot of goblins/giants/archers/barbs/hogs/witch minions etc..

Which is why I proposed an marginal upgrade to DPS/HP and a slightly larger splash radius.

I have read that level 4 Valkarie is best defense to have in clan castle for Town Hall level 5 in clan wars. I found this on the article called: Top 10 TH5 war base layouts article. Is it right? or are level 6 wizards better. Please advise.

I have max Valks and love them for defense in wars. In my clan about 3/4 of all of our CCs have a single max Valk along with the rest of the troops. They have a tendency to come out of the CC last when the attacker is trying to lure them out, and if the attacker doesn't notice her right away and deal with her quick, she can really do some damage. She chops up groups of Hogs, Giants, or Heroes pretty well, and it's always very entertaining. On offense though I admit she isn't the best. She is easily distracted and tends to go to the outside like the Pekka, but her slow attack is really what kills her. Not sure what I would do to fix that because if they speed up her attacks, the would probably nerf the damage. I think it's probably best to leave her alone. I mean, look what they did with hogs and giant bombs or other units that have been changed. Just sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone.

I agree they are an forgotten troop. Valks are great replacement for pekkas in gowipe

I am confused at weather or not this post includes recommending buffing the Valkyrie at levels 1-4.


If so, no that would make her OP. At those levels a Valkyrie is form-able but underused. I believe addressing the training cost/research cost would be more beneficial for making her more practical.


But I believe a 5th level of Valkyrie is needed. At Th9 she is a powerful combination with loons, hogs, or witches. You just need to know how to use her. But the point defenses at Th10 and high level walls make her lose effectiveness. She is still a vital part of my army but I use 8-5 of her these days because of her durability.

Having a higher attack would also help vs walls.


Previous levels, I believe increasing her attack speed, (not DPS) would be a major improvement along with removing the AI flaw where she will do her full attack motion, but if the building she is targeting is destroyed (or unit) she does not damage. Allow her to keep her AoE damage and that would take care of that.



Valkyrie are the most underestimated unit in the game. But Th10 has gotten a ton of defense upgrades, she is due for one as well.



Not sure how increasing her AoE would go. Vs CC troops I'd welcome it. Vs buildings it would have to be play tests to see how it would play out.

i disagree.. valkyries are powerful.

you can get 2 or 3 stars against TH10 bases.

sometimes fail miserably.. but this is the game... just practice to understand how and when to use certain troops, spells combinations, timing, etc.

Valkyrie defenders are by far the best against a mass attack by barbarians and giants. Mass barbarian make short work on wizards, especially with the tendency of all wizards to target one barbarian, and if that barbarians dies all the wizards wiff.

Valkyries are very effective against low TH inexperienced attackers. An experienced attacker knows that spread archers are good against both, and that a minion defeats a lured valkyrie easily.

I don't recall ever seeing many videos or a well known attack strategy used to three star bases with valks. And you won't because they still worthless. They need to be a 5 space troops. Make them a bit cheaper to build and upgrade. Why not make them more aggressive vs cc troops or archer towers??.. just my thoughts..

Whats a valkyrie? Is it a new troop with the last update?

Try being a low level TH7 like me and try to attack in war... Then u might change your wrong point of view,almost all clan castle's in war has a Valkyrie stock in them,it takes me 8 level 3 Wizards to take down the Valkyrie in which the case it could easily kill all of my giants hitting those walls..

I personally :heart: valks, even though I havn't used them at all. Statwise, they are one of the most OP troops in the game. In reality, I don't think this is true. Meh. Doesn't change the fact that I :heart: them. However, to actually say something corresponding to the topic of this post, Valks should probably get a DPS increase along with a slight boost in HP, and then they would be :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:.

Is this an idea? If yes then it's wrong sub forum as you should post it in troops and spell ideas. If it's not an idea then too it is a wrong sub forum.

Yes I agree Valkaries can be a bit expensive but I am the leader of a really big war clan and they are great troops to throw into a low lvl war cc because then they just wreck.

Thus she can envelope even more things and can reach out to destroy even those stuff , those are separated by a 1 tile gap !! This will do !

Or maybe a Spell to correct her gaps ?

She is prone to Spring traps and has low radius of damage ! Why not a spell that increases her body size thus making her heavy and larger ! So when this dark spell is used on her , she will be safe from Spring Traps and Attack even more stuff !!

I think Valk will be a great war troop if it doesnt fly when step on spring trap.

Level 5? Yes. Unused? No.

Valks can be used for killing cc troops....but if u got drag or anything flying then....so why not wiz
Valks cannot be used as the part of core group bcz of their speed they will always be ahead and somewhere else taking damage and dying.
Valks are not better to farm
Valks cannot be used as tanks or funneling troops

You guys here clearly don't know how to use Valks if she is underpowered. Get 8 of her in the core of a TH9 with a Heal Spell, and they'll tear it down in seconds, while busting out the other side of the base still holding up strong.

The only change I think is needed to Valks is that Inferno Towers are Crazy OP and either they need nerfing and/or Valkyries need a Level 5 upgrade for TH10s.
