So, At level 66 I decided to buy a smelter and open my mine. Any advice for me?
I read on the forum before I got my smelters and I don't remember who it was posted by . But they said they did was to get three smelters and open one box in each so you have two. Then you have a smelter for each ore that has worked for me pretty well I have mixed it up have kept it pretty much like thata couple of times. Needed more silver, built up too much on an ore and not as much of another ect but I have kept it pretty much like that. After I reD that I couldn't wait to get my mine and smelters
Happy mining!!!
I opened mine after jeweler become available to buy. Then I bought one smelter. Then very soon after that one I bought a second. And a thrid, fourth and fifth. Problem is it takes forever to produce metal bar. And it takes lots of bars to produce jewelry.
Good side is jewelry truck orders will give you vouchers and usually higher amount of coins than you can sell it for at RSS. And mining will also give you diamonds from time to time.
So if you have some available space on your farm after this new machinery update, go for it. It's fun :D
Thanks for the reply. How does the mining thing work? Are there certain tools that offer better rewards?
you can use shovel, dynamite and TNT to digg ore. shovel will give you the highest amount of ores - 4, on second place is TNT with 3 ores, then dynamite with 2 ores. and sometimes mining will give you a LEM or BEM or so :)
Dynamite will give you 2 random pieces of ore, TnT will give you 3, and shovels will give you 4. It also SEEMS like shovels are more likely to give you a diamond, but I can't speak to any statistics to prove that. Any of the tools can give you that bonus diamond.
Also, picking up ore is like picking up complete products or harvesting crops in that you can earn the special tool or item drops like tape, nails, etc.
Here's what I do:
Step 1 - Hire Tom for 15 diamonds, and send him to get shovels.
Step 2 - Use the shovels to dig up tons and tons of ore, and (hopefully) diamonds.
Step 3 - Repeat this process until you've earned back 15 diamonds, then start sending Tom out to get whatever other item you need that takes a long time to make, like Jellybeans, Chocolate, Jams, etc. with whatever trips you have left over.
Repeat as needed. It means you don't have to really "pay" for Tom for a few trips, and it nets you a bunch of shovels/ore.
This will leave you with a huge pile of ore in your barn. So then I put all my silver in one smelter, gold in another, platinum in another. The other two I tend to rotate depending on what I need to make.
If you keep filling up your barn you can open your queue and add a new bar to production without picking the old ones up (we call it stacking). the end result is you have piles of completed bars sitting on the ground outside your smelters. When you need them for jewelry, you just pick up the ones you need, and leave the rest, make your bracelets, or necklaces, and then send them off. This keeps you from storing a ton of ore and metal bars in your barn taking up valuable space.
My only other tip is: don't make your own diamond rings. It takes a diamond for each one. you can spend 15 diamonds and get a lot more than 15 rings if you just ask Tom to get them for you.
I had no interest in mining until my daughter bought a couple of smelters and started making jewelry. I opened my mine and started saving ore for her. Next I bought one smelter so I could make bricks for her as it didn't take as much storage space in her barn. Now I have 5 smelters with 3 slots each going 24/7 so I can make jewelry for myself. I t's really tricky getting the mix right, my jewelry stand is idle even though I have a lot of bricks. Just not the right combination. The suggestions here are really helpful and I am going to change my method now. BTW I got 2 gold vouchers selling jewelry at my stand today. :)
Thanks, CheddarLimbo.
I've never used Tom other than his free trial. I've read a few posts where folks seem to think he's not worth the amount of diamonds it takes to hire him vs. the resting periods he takes. Do you have any opinions on that? I've only purchased diamonds twice in the almost 10 months I've been playing, and I'm down to my last 15. Is it really worth spending my last bunch on him?
I've never spent any real world money on this game. I've been playing for over a year, and I love it. I only ever use diamonds I've earned in game from rewards, movie tickets, and toolboxes and that suits me fine.
The resting period are a pain. But that's just part of the game, you know? That's the downside to the service, but you can still make it work for you if you put in some effort.
Using the system I outlined above, Tom is essentially free so long as I get enough diamonds back from my shovels. I just had to "loan" him the diamonds for a day. I almost always get the 15 diamonds back before his time runs out, and get two or three more trips after the fact.
So if you want to look at it mathematically, his service was free (I have the same or more diamonds than when I started), PLUS I have a bunch of ore to process, PLUS I have anywhere from 9-18 extra jelly beans/chocolate bars/jams/diamonds rings in my barn that I didn't have before.
So yeah, I'd say that's worth it. :D
And let's say it's worst case scenario and I only got TEN diamonds back from my 80-90 shovels. Well, I still get all the ore, XP from mining and processing, making bars, and making and selling jewelry for a net cost of 5 diamonds. Still a pretty good deal.
In this game, diamonds are used to buy exclusive decorations OR save time. Everyone's time is worth something different to them, and so the diamonds worth varies from player to player.
Thanks, again.
i've been flipping through the newspaper and checking loads of farms for over an hour (did I just admit that?!) and haven't found a single shovel, tnt, or stick of dynamite for sale.
I might try Tom after all. Thanks for your help. Truly appreciated!
