I am leader of three clans, we played CG in two with different participation AND different results. Since I am very happy with the interest shown here, I will reply for both of these clans and our different strategies, efforts and observations for the clans.
Response for clan A - 30+ active accounts *quite a few multi-accounts*, continuous war clan
- Are you in a big clan that failed to reach the top tier due to inactive members and has it made you look at the make up of the clan and consider changes? No
- Are you in a smaller clan that has decided to push for fresh blood to reach higher tiers?
- If you are in a smaller clan has this made you considered a merger?
Yes. We ended up teaming up with the active part of another clan because some of their clan members were clear they wouldn't work on these clan games and the active part wanted top rewards. We weren't sure we would be able to max out. Turns out that we had max tier on Sunday already.
This is/was NOT a merger. We have formed an alliance that ended up working great. It would be awesome if SC would give us some extra tools to facilitate alliances without the need for merging
- Have you considered leaving your clan and looking for one that achieves better rewards? N/a
- Did you actually leave a long term clan to get better rewards? N/a
- Did your leadership make a decision not to push or pressure players regards Clan Tasks and you are satisfied which whatever effort people made in your existing clan? N/a
- If you have never considered leadership has this encouraged you to take control or if you are in a leadership roll has this put you off it with the extra responsibility? I am the leader, I have planned some extra game time for this. Being clear about expectations and actually communicate with your clannies helps, a lot.... an opt out or whatever might be a good tool, if at all possible
- Has this changed your clan in anyway either foreseen or unforeseen? Everyone hyped each other more than we had expected - nice surprise; no changes for the longer term expected
Response for clan II - 15+ active accounts, ~10 less active accounts, some multi-accounts, continuous war clan
- Are you in a big clan that failed to reach the top tier due to inactive members and has it made you look at the make up of the clan and consider changes? No
- Are you in a smaller clan that has decided to push for fresh blood to reach higher tiers? No time, and unfortunately not really any good response on our checking worldwide and so on - fresh blood would be appreciated, but it's hard to come by for us
- If you are in a smaller clan has this made you considered a merger? Not at this time, Clan Games are an optional extra due to busy lives
- Have you considered leaving your clan and looking for one that achieves better rewards? I personally have thought of moving 2 of my 3 accounts, but decided to help the other active members to reach 30k, which happened this morning
- Did you actually leave a long term clan to get better rewards? No, not yet.
- Did your leadership make a decision not to push or pressure players regards Clan Tasks and you are satisfied which whatever effort people made in your existing clan? Clan Games are an optional extra, though we end up going the extra mile for that one higher tier if we can. We can't get far past 30k unfortunately with the current setup. For us, a higher max/account would really, really be appreciated
- If you have never considered leadership has this encouraged you to take control or if you are in a leadership roll has this put you off it with the extra responsibility? Leadership role, as a clan it's been decided it's an 'optional' thing, though we also have decided to now boot those who are at the bottom every time, yet are online half the day or more
- Has this changed your clan in anyway either foreseen or unforeseen? Not really, though there is some frustration/annoyance about those 'not really' participating continuously, besides booting those after several warnings, no change expected
Speaking for myself and my partner (we both have more accounts in all our clans), the clan games are a nice addition and we love them. People can pick and choose, and if you have a solid clan (and we know we are in solid clans, which is worth a lot) you can simply discuss what you want to get from a specific set of games and then see what is the best way to get there.
Yes, some tools would be appreciated, like opt in or opt out, or maybe have members specify how many points they will aim for in a set of games. I understand the cry for 'management should set limits', but I beg to differ. This would only be a good tool if it could be customized per account, and not just be 'one for all' in a clan. People have lives outside of CoC. People can be off, have an issue with their devices, have other obligations and so on, that might prevent them from reaching an agreed goal - yet they contribute to the clan in more ways than 'just' in clan games, so we want them to get their rewards too, and let them help the clan in their own way...
As stated for the first clan: we took a leap of faith after I posted a post in this forum asking smaller clans to join forces. We DID team up with actives from another clan, and one person with three accounts who wanted to get max rewards. It was a leap, but we were prepared to take the risk, and thankfully it went great. Everyone is a winner here and in case of bigger events we certainly will check if we can help each other out again. THIS is the spirit!
Thank you for this post Holps ... also great responses so far :).
