Clan Games Fallout

I am one of the Co-leaders of 30 accounts clan - these latest CG (Lunar Games) forced us to push alll active/accessible accounts (28) to go all out and try to max - we just cleared 75 000 minutes ago and may even get close to 80 k as only one account finished below 2000 points and most maxed at 3k.

It has been great external incentivize to engage even almost dormant account (we recently cleared out truly churned players) - not sure what this means going forward , whether this engagement is sustainable as for wars we rarely get beyond 15v15 wars , mostly 10v10 three times per week.

Also given the high pressure of this 75 k goal several of us (including me ) have started mini accounts to build to TH6 so we have more options. Given the cloud issues with high level TH11s in Titan or Legend league this may even become my dedicated CG account as main account is almost forced to get all points from BB game.

All in all very very positive but not something we want every week - a more regular schedule with mid size CGs and 1-2 x quarter large ones may be the happy medium - while still looking for improvements for clouds issue

Nice thread, Holps.

After the first clan games left my very established 50ish member level 17 clan (it started a slow death spiral after builder base update, but that is a story for a different thread) after being there for almost 2 years to take on leadership and rebuild a dead clan I started in 2013.

It is very tough to build from scratch. The clan was level 4 when I returned, and we could barely scrape together ten people who would be active in war etc. We are now level 5 and have crossed the 20 somewhat active people threshhold.

I have not considered a merge, no one leaves to get better tiers, and quite honestly, no one in the clan seems to care too much about what rewards we get. We went all in for the clan game before the lunar new year game and got a pretty decent tier for a smaller clan.

The people who participated got burned out and when we saw the next game was set to start so suddenly after we collectively decided not to worry about it. We will not get tier 3 in the current games (i think i have earned 250 points for it) and no one seems to mind that at all.

War seems to be the main draw for people still and the Matchmaking we experience is, I guess, another story for a different thread.

Anyway, I sort of modeled my clan as a refuge for rushed bases and people who just play for the fun of it, so serious, grumpy pantsed clashers tend to stay the heck away ;) That helps understand the matchmaking issues, to be sure!

Clan games is a nice bonus distraction, but in my view it does not need to be a clan building tool, nor should it be a clan destroying thing.

1. Yeah i am running a big clan but its nearly dead. And right now im gonna do some changes to the rules, kick some player and invite some players

5. It has changed our clan a lot. Some of the loyal players left our clan to get better rewards (can't really blame them) and it made our clan far more active than it used to be. But, after someone completes their 3000 points they become a bit inactive. Probably because they feel burnt out.

we're a clan of 44, though 13 of those are minis. we made the top tier with 24hrs to spare, and without any real coordination. we decided to put war on hold because this CG was so big; if we hadn't done that we probably wouldn't have made it...

we usually war back-to-back, and there doesn't seem to be any real fatigue despite a lot of games this year. the biggest motivator is the book of heroes/everything - we rarely hit 25v25 wars, mainly because of the hero grind, so that reward really helps get us going.

the games have been a positive for us - more people engaging and chatting, it gives an extra purpose to raiding beyond either farming or practicing war attacks.

Please don't turn this into a comment thread about Clan Games themselves (such as tier rewards etc) because there are plenty of those threads already I am really driving at how it might affect clans going forward...if at all?

• Are you in a smaller clan that has decided to push for fresh blood to reach higher tiers? My alt who leads a small clan had some players who wanted come to the big clan to help and get rewards. My small clan has no intention of recruiting.
• If you are in a smaller clan has this made you considered a merger? A merger in terms of leaving a clan to join another permanently, no. But just for games, yes.
• Have you considered leaving your clan and looking for one that achieves better rewards? The main reason my main is out of the small clan was to build connections for this exact reason. When games were first released, I foresaw this happening.
• Did you actually leave a long term clan to get better rewards? Not permanently. I go back and forth to my long term clan.

The big clan that I use for games has a very strong core 15-20 players (including alts). The core players are not satisfied with the leaches who did <500. There were about another 10-15 players in between.

I'd say I did my best given the situation. We got 75k in the main clan thanks to me bring players from the small clan over. We wouldn't have made it otherwise.

I left my old clan for better rewards, that clan is broken now

The only good solution is to remove the per-person cap. It truly does not benefit anyone. As one of the most active members of my clan I would like to be able to earn more than 3000 points. I get bored as soon as I hit the cap and go back to not playing the game anymore (maxed TH11). The less active members of the clan have to step up and participate in games that they don't want to play. And small clans are denied the rewards entirely. The per-person cap simply does not help anyone. It makes the game worse for everyone, active and inactive alike.

I am the leader of a midsize clan that has bumped up to between 29 to 33 players with between 32 to 57 accounts. Before the clan games started we were in the 14 to 20 player range. The clan has been around for almost 4 years (since before I started playing) and has a wide range in ages including some parents and their kids (including a son in law for one of my co's). We will not reach the top tier but I basically knew that before this games started as we have not really had a lot of luck in recruiting for the games. 27 players were active in the games but no chance of making the top tie,r as I know that we have working adults who do not have the time to make the 3000 point push.

I did not push players to complete the games, but we offered the incentive that players who reach max points earn elder, and we had 11 players (13 accounts since 3 are mine) reach the 3000 point mark with another 5 players at over 2000 that might reach 3000. Then we have 9 players at under 1200, including 2 that will be let go as they are clearly leaches. Normal path to elder is both attacks in 3 straight wars, but our wars have been small, no longer back to back, and about a two week path to elder.

I have done some recruiting to get more players but have not tried to do clan mergers and I have allowed back in some previous players that i would not otherwise have because of the clan games. I also allowed a few leaches to stay much longer than they otherwise would have been welcome just to see if they were going to help in the games. They did not and are now gone.

An unintended consequence of elder is we have had some more hopping into and out of the clan then we would like but that will probably get sorted (kicks) after this games is up. It has also caused me to dump some players that have gone inactive that i might have let stay longer to see if they pick up the game again.

None of my long term players have jumped ship because we haven't gotten top tier and I don't see them jumping. I may look at trying to work a merge with a small clan into mine for future clan games if they stay at this level, but not real comfortable with how to make it work.
