Yeah, this is what's ruining the game for me. It's not fun spending 10 minutes and a lot of gold every time you go to raid. Too often there are no bases worth raiding.

I provide suggestions all of the time. I'm about to write a very long winded post. But basically, IMO everything that is wrong with this game boils down to one thing. The game punishes progression. That is why people find it to be less fun as they advance. It's as simple as that.
The goal of game changes should be to allow people to play as they want whether that be farming or cup hunting instead of forcing them to play a certain way. That means new changes should open more advantageous options for players that were not there before (as opposed to making current ones worse). Thus players will want to willingly do them.
So where does the cost come from, just searching?
I've been at TH10 a couple months now. Maxed my mortars, wizards, camps, got all the new stuff to a reasonable level, some of the lab stuff. My lab has gone used for brief periods, and sometimes I have a sleepy builder. I've mostly been using BAM and rarely spells just to get more raids in and conserve resources. Most of the time I've farming about 1800 to 2200, some days are good some days are slow but progress is steady.
