How to Clone Spell

I'm going to max it eventually when I finish poison and miners. And I'd like some advice/tips on how to use this spell and when is it better than, say, two rages.

I have maxed air except dragons (going to lvl 3 lol) babies (lvl 2) and minions. Clone still lvl 3, ground is all maxed but miners, wizzies and golems.

I've read it is mostly for laloon and I've seen it used in dragloon on Youtube.

I'm into upgrading any troop right now.
And I want it for war, since I don't need to farm much, my heroes and walls are maxed.

like you said, it's used with laloon or dragloons but are not often used with other troop composition.
It is more similar to a rage + heal, than 2 rages.
The cloned troops will have full health and disappear after the cloned duration so it is usually used in the front and at the side where your loons/drag starts to thin out.

I only use clone with air troops (I use BDs/Loons). For me, the trick to using it effectively is to watch carefully for troops to fly close to the core, anticipating where they will end up (and whether they can survive) in the couple seconds it takes to drop the spell and for it to take effect. It's a gamble dropping the spell on a single troop (chances are it will die before getting cloned) so ideally you want a clump of troops. If you are using dragons then it's safe to drop the spell on a single as long as it has sufficient health.

I usually find its is best to clone loons in a packed core then rage them up. But that's just me. Others may use them differently.

Very frustrating when a sweeper pushes your loons away from clone or you miscalculate the pathing. Losing 4 spell slots = sadness on the raid.

But overall clone pretty powerful with loons, sometimes with dragons too in the right situation.

I haven't had much success with it with other troops but it might work well with bowlers or miners though I haven't got those to work personally.

Tips on using clone for lavaloon:

- use the clone on the loons. Avoid cloning the lava since the pups will disappear

- drop on front loons so cloned loons go in front of other loons. Although many advocate dropping ahead of the loons, this can be risky. See next point.

- the radius of clone is very small so need to be more precise when dropping. Best is to drop on a defense the front loon is moving to or already on (other than air defense). Don’t drop on other structures or empty space.

- lavas travel in a straight line between air defenses, so avoid dropping on these straight line paths.

I cant think of the last time i've seen anyone use the clone spell in a war. There are so many better strats .... i bet its been a year at least since i've seen it.

While it definitely isn't the most common spell, I see it get used, and I use it quite often. For me, at TH10, it's solely on loons. I mostly see it used in dragoon attacks at TH11, where they have more spells and can be a people more flexible.
One thing I like about it, is you can kind of hop balloons over a gap that they might not naturally path across. Say your loons are circling around an inferno island, and not targeting the inferno. If you drop the spell so that it's center is close enough to the inferno, and your loons touch the edge of the spell, the clones will spawn above the inferno, or x bow, or whatever building you're trying to target. Just need to practice and get it right. Always sucks to miss your troops entirely.

Another tip, if you're a TH10, or just don't have Max loons yet, try bringing maxed loons in the CC and plan to have them path to an advantageous spot for cloning. Always nicer to get more of that extra firepower. I guess same for whatever troop you're cloning. If you can clone the higher level, go for it, as long as it's a good location/time for cloning. Sometimes it's a better play to clone the lower level troops, depending on your situation.
