sub-200 at TH10 actually works!
I upgraded to TH10 a short while ago and, after trying farming at 1800 and 2000 cups i decided to try sub-200 for the very first time. At TH9 I was only interested in gold and raided 6m+ per day when active. Using the profile stats for comparison, I've raided 4.7m gold and 7.85m resources per day overall, including holidays etc.having spent most of the time at TH10 down at sub-200, I have managed to average 7.6m resources. I also have accumulated 65k DE in 4 days, net of drills and zapping.So, it's possible and reasonably profitable. However, you have to be able to stay online for long periods, as each time you leave you will pick up cups.here are some tips if you are interested to try...
- The whole behaviour of the game changes when you drop below 200. Don't be worried by the bases you see on your way down - try to use your King to drop cups as there is no cost other than the search cost. Dropping from 2000 to 199 took me about 60 minutes. Using a few revenges will also save you search costs but might yield less cup drops.
- As you go down you will progressively lose less cups per raid, ending in about 3 at a time.
- As you hit sub-200, all of a sudden you will see strong bases - other people doing the same thing. You will also occasionally see very weak gemmed bases to raid - you can pick up a lot of resources from these but don't rely on them!
- many of the active sub-200 crowd will be easy to raid, especially if their stores are together in the centre so plan to raid the easiest of these.
- the 'rules' of sub-200 means that you only see bases at most 2 levels below you. This is the major plus of raiding down here.
- You see the same bases again and again which is partly frustrating but also excellent - if you are lucky, you can raid the most 'generous' bases several times, provided you stop before giving them a shield (more on ethics below)
- As well as watching that magic 39% make, obviously be careful not to pass 50% or you will win cups.
- To be able to raid both types of base, I recommend taking 12 giants as meat shields, 12 WBs to penetrate into the centres and the rest goblins. I was upgrading my spell factory but a couple of healing spells would have been great when penetrating deep into bases protected by WTs. Level 6 Goblins will be awesome with this too!
- expect to have to search up to 80 times to find a good raid. The returns easily cover this so don't worry. After about 100 you start seeing some of the same bases again so compromise!
- once I got above 50k DE I started to get more people zapping my store - try to find something to spend it on!
- There is no further change of game behaviour going lower than 199 - I went all the way down to zero but still got the same range of bases
- A clan mate suggested that you would get a different range of bases by closing the app and somehow connecting to a different server. I did not find that this was the case.
- In terms of base design, protect your resources, use your collectors to divert goblins and, most importantly, move your TH outside your walls. I usually got a shield from a TH snipe reasonably quickly and never had to drop more than about 150 cups before being able to raid again.
- Share the best bases and attacks with you clan - there are some very amusing ones and some amazing finds. The best thing about raiding at this level is the entertainment value.
- Ethics - i have no qualms about hitting another sub-200 farmer multiple times if their base is poor - they are playing the same game. I do have some concerns about hitting people who clearly have more money than sense - picture a TH10 base with no walls, no weapons, zero Heroic Heist but full DE store. My middle ground is to hit them 2-3 times before giving them a shield, and maybe they might learn something. Each to their own though.
I am now moving back up as I can't be online so much for a while but I will return when my goblins are done! :) Hope this helps if you decide to give it a go...

wow that is way too much, 80k on searches to find a good raid. That is truly time consuming. Not sure if you are right but if you are, its still not worth it to me.

Im raiding 200-300k gold resource per 15ms in 2200 (giant/hogger combo) or 2500-2600 trophies de hunting every 39mins (10k-20k de per day)

Yeah it is a fairly time consuming activity. 80 is the top-side. I was sometimes finding nothing at 1800 with that many searches. The net gains are good though.

What's your most effective Giant/Hogger combo? I am assuming if you are raiding every 15 mins that you're not using spells...

I have no experience of this at TH8 but probably still 200k of each minimum , I'd have thought. The point is that it should be easy loot - plenty of people down there don't know how to build a base, put all of their stores together. You will find some much bigger hauls from th9s and 10s, even after the change in the loot bonus.

Thanks Howie :) yes, that's one of my longer-term objectives too - i hate having incomplete achievements! I made about 40 defences a day, depending on how many times i logged off. What I need is a week off sick in bed (with nothing too unpleasant, obviously) then I would really make some progress!! The 2 guys i know of who have completed Unbreakable both spent a lot of time at sub-200 apparently.

Very interesting, when I was down there at TH 7 I mostly went for anything that had collectors with 50k plus in all... This quickly added up and kept my cups down. I also liked the part that it had the best entertainment.... Indeed it did! :rolleyes: Haha loved getting the high bases with no walls...

Rather than big raids, go for those that give 2k per goblin. Makes more profit quicker, can't say for TH10 though.

Yes, that is the case. As a TH10 I only ever saw 10s, 9s and 8s. Most 8s weren't worth raiding due to the loot penalty. Highest loot available seen was just under 1m total, though obviously this was exceptional. Most bases are active but many are poorly defended. I intend to go back some time and raid with a hog army, dropping cups in between bakes, just to see what bases you get offered as you start to clear out the ones that keep being offered. You could do this with very little search expense so the returns would be better than at 2200 I reckon.

If you are looking for alternative farming, well its quite popular for th10 now. Go to 2000-2600 trophies, depending on how well upgraded your defenses are.

Im currently farming those trophy range with my town hall outside.

Giant/hogger combo: 12 giants 8wb 16 hogs, 20 goblins, 50-54 archers~, I use spells when they are available but dont need them. I tend to 2-3 star bases, 1 star max bases with this army combo. (My spell factory has 1 spell of each, its fun having all spells max ;) )

Then when a DE upgrade/heroe is due, I switch to a 20 balloon, 70 minion army or if im online for a long period: 16 balloon 80 minion (1 lightning 4 heals, but dont need spells, only use when available)

Im using the giant/hog combo at the moment since my only upgrades left is the lvl12 archers and traps,then going back to balloonians to upgrade heroes/walls

A few months ago, when I finally upgraded balloons to lvl6 - i was so shock how easy and effective they are! Soooo much different from lvl5 balloons, glad i joined the balloon wagon :D

I DIDN'T FIND ANY TH7/8/9/10 BASES IN ANY OF THE CASES.

Yes, I suspect it works +/- 2 TH levels, though many of the people who dropped trophies on me or sniped my TH were Low town halls but raiding at about 250 cups

I do find the occasional TH1 down there, don't think that there is any TH based matchmaking difference there.

P.S. Sub200 sucks. Don't go there if you are a well developed TH8/9/10. Only if you are a preemie. Have a nice day.

Wth respect, you are a TH8. You have no first-hand experience of the scenario at TH10. Having experienced the lack of loot available to TH10s thru regular farming techniques and making a direct comparison with sub-200 I would disagree.

I was until this morning. To sustain it you have to be online almost constantly and work doesn't allow that very often. I will do it again though, probably when I get my level 6 gobs. In my opinion, it's not for all the time but is fun when it suits.

80k for a search for a good base is normal for me. and as a TH8, costs are less, so that's more searches! 1400-1500 range(trying to climb up!)

Damn, i cant believe it still exist.. But, that 100-200k bases only happens in like a million searching.. Its not like every search you will see that kind of base.. Most you will see down there are lower th with no walls and a 10-50k gold on storages

I can't speak from first hand experience but I don't see why not. That said, loot is great at th8 so not sure why you'd bother...

Very interesting. This may be the only slightly viable reason for a TH9 farmer to premmie to TH10 for the TH +/-2 rule. Thats some crazy loot in the SS for a TH10 considering how quickly you can raid. I spent the beginning of my TH8 life down there, before discovering the joy of silver 1. Might have to test again when I get TH9.

The bad thing is im farming at 190 and as soon as I log off i get raided 5 times by people trophy dropping and it takes me up to 340 trophies. Then I have to spend 10 minutes dropping again. Found a few good bases to raid, hope I find a lot more or it's not really worth it, it's like normal raiding down here, the bases are all th8-9-10

Yep, that's why you have to stay online so much. It's a pain if you want a quick look at the forums...

You're right, it's like normal raiding but almost everyone has loot and there isn't too much dross

I am a town hall 7 and where I'm at right now 950-1000 the loot is terrible. I just blew off 100k searching for a match. And I'm just town hall 7. Should I try sub-200 or not? If not then where should I go? What army comp should I use if I go sub-200

I did this last week as I had 2 reg and 1 dark barracks upgrading. My TH8 is almost maxed. I found decent loot but wasn't really looking for much as I had nothing to spend it on.

I made it down to mid 20s but could not hit 0. Below 100 you drop 1 cup for each loss, so it gets harder and harder to drop.

This was my money cow at TH8. Went down as TH9 and it wasn't even slightly as profitable, I can't imagine it being very good at TH10

Personally I wouldn't at th7 - that should be the land of plenty with regular raiding. Try a little higher first maybe? If u do go down, use mostly gobs with a few giants as meat shield and a few wbs for when u need to penetrate to the centre of a base

No, I doubt it could beat BArch etc at 1500. The thing with th10 though is that the loot is pretty awful and the bases you have to beat to get it are increasingly impenetrable or expensive to max. That's why it becomes a valid choice at TH10, in my opinion.

Zero trophies is great for TH7 and 8…I was getting 3-5000 gold per goblin down there every single time. BUT…you have to stay on for a long time to make it worthwhile when you factor in the time it takes to drop to that level + the time it takes to climb back up through the region where there is next to no loot. It's no picnic…but is worth it in the right circumstance.

But if you have a day where you just want to farm the lights out of it…..drop to zero trophies and train all gobs. There are collector bases there where you can take 80-100k in gold and elixir with 20 gobs repeatedly. You may want to have 3-4 giants and 4-5 WB in your camps for the odd base where that's needed just to make it the most efficient.

No doubt this helped me max skull walls at TH8 faster…

Yeah my TH is outside my walls, only had a little stolen from me with dragon attacks while air defense was upgrading. I just spent 5m on xbow upgrade and working today to get another 5m for the other lol

Are you talking about using an army to raid the good bases?

Is "traditional" sub 200 farming with gobs still viable?

Plus, if you absolutely must go off, it only usually takes me about 10 min to go back down from about 350-400.

I have been raiding with 132 gobs, 12 giants and 14 wbs. There are a few silly bases with maxed THs and lots of free loot but mostly I have been picking off easy 200k/200k th9 and th10 bases. There are plenty of premature bases at all th level so the raiding is not hard

Not archers or you will win too often. Gobs and weapon-targetting meat shields, whether they be giants, hogs, even golems is best. The heavy troops are just there to let your gobs do the real work...

Not sure i would at th9. There is plenty of loot to be found with cheap/quick troop combinations at th9. The loot shortage really hits home at th10 which is why I recommend it there
