Taking it easy now...

Dear friends and fellow forum posters, just wanted to say that my time spent on Hay Day will be seriously reduced from now on. So please dont worry if you dont see me around that much anymore, neither in the forum nor in the game.

I got too much disgusted by the the greed they are showing lately. Asking for high insane amounts of diamonds on the other hand, holding back a simple feature like the diamond confirmation button for months now, as well as introducing more and more reasons to spent diamonds.

Someone said, this is because they have to keep the game running, no sir. SC has made a profit (that is a surplus in your pockets, after all your spendings) of 104 million in the first quarter of the year only. They decided to sell the majority of their company ( it is a COMPANY and not a bunch of people enjoying to entertain us) to japanese giants for 1.53 billion.

This game is a money machine, and i dont blame people having a good idea how to print money and become rich in record time. Good on them, everyone has values, some have monetary goals and believe money makes them happy.

What really put me off, and this was the last drop which made the barrel overflow as we say in German, is this ruthless openly shown greediness. I find it unbearable, it completely destroyed everything for me. Whatever happens with the game lately, you an always ask the question: is this a way to make player buy diamonds and therefore let money flow to the new owners? And it is. It is nothing else but this anymore.

I am giving it time, maybe I learn to ignore that I am just seen and treated as a potential source of real money for thg very personal wealth of a handful of people. Until then, HD will be running in the background and I will look for other sources which can make me happy, at least keep this illusion up a bit better. Something which gives me the feeling that it is mainly meant to entertain me, not just a geniously build up money machine.

Thry are doing a test function for double clicking feature to spend diamonds at the moment. I received the pop up box saying that today on my 2nd account but not my main account. I guess they're trying it on a random group of people. I tried it out by opening another queue slot on the net maker and I started "pulsating" and then I clicked it once more for the queue slot to open.

Personally, and this is only my own opinion but I've played many, many freemium game that has gone the drain after picking up some successes but I honestly feel like SC listens to it's player so much more than any other developer out there. It might not happen over night like some people would like it to but I really feel like SG is thinking of the game's longevity and so far they've done a spectacular job. I don't understand why we have to turn their sucess into something ugly. Tweaking prices in games is so common it'd actually be surprising if it didn't happen. I don't understand why it's such a big deal, if anything, SC has been super generous and giving back to us. I started playing HD not long after it was released and we never got diamonds after updates or maintainence breaks nor did they have special prizes exclusively for the forum community. Don't even get starting on how much better their costumer service is compared to other developers with freemium games. If they didn't like what they're doing and enjoyed entertaining us, they wouldn't go the extra mile. Why hate on their profit and success?

Oh CEMFF, i knew you were not a happy bunny yesterday , I could tell from the thread conversation. I totally agree with all the above ( as you probably know). Yesterday my 11 yrs old son came home from school & was elated to see the update ( on his iPod). He wanted the Christmas tree ( 30 diamonds if I remember, sorry if I'm wrong, I got mine last year ) . My heart sunk, as I knew he had zero diamonds in his game. I've never bought them for him ( he's has to earn them playing ). And I've not purchase diamonds since last Christmas, because on no confirmation button. and will not!! He did buy some pressis & a pole and there they sit on his little ( very unorganised ) farm. I am actually getting upset writing this , thinking of how he felt when I had to refuse him the tree. But we all have our principles and I totally respect you for making this decision, you must be a very strong person.

If SC only realised that by putting the confirmation button in place for EVERYONE, THE MONEY WOULD ROLL IN ! :cool:

They learned that x players will spend diamonds on speeding construction up and sending Tom, for finished products. X diamonds times x players equals x Euro/Yen/Dollars.

oh soooo simple? Lets do it again! Lets put pressure on the gamers, letsdo it during a boat event. The who wants double vouchers will havemore reasons to spent diamonds.... And so on.

They can be as rich as they want to, I do mind. But where are the features willbenefit the gamers, and only the gamers? Like new achievements, diamond confirmation button ( how much longer wil you believe that lie with the testing?? Are they that incapable at dev department? Didnt you hear Nicks excuse, the button would interrupt game flow...?) where is the land expansion? Where are the masteries for netmaker?

They threw the machines in because they will generate diamonds very,very quickly. It had to happen during the boat event, dont you see how they laugh about every single player speeding the machines and sending Tom for products they never knew they would have to?

Foy me, the balance isnt right anymore. Too much introduced for their material profit, too little for my immaterial profit. If thebalance changes, I will change back too.

I'm sorry you're not happy and if so, I understand that you might want to play anymore however I still don't agree with the things you're saying because I think they're kind of hypocritical. You say you have nothing on their money and success yet you keep bringing up that they're adding things to the game BECAUSE it generates money. The way I see it, whether they add new things or not, they'll still racking in money daily and lots of it. Adding new items might create a buzz for a day or 2 because some people will spend real money to get a head start however I highly doubt that buzz gives such a significant profit ocer what they already make because then they would've added a new machine every single week (like a nother game I used to play, which obviously made me stop playing it).

They NEED to keep adding new items, if not, the players who has been there from the beginning or very active will loose interest. I personally is 1 of those people. I had unlocked all machines and for a long time, I tried to keep occupied with finding crates to fill, work on masteries and achievement while waiting for the next machine. In the end, I had finished all my goals, I only had Helter Smelter and masteries for the feed mills left which really isn't so exciting. I waited and waited for something new to come but it never did and I got so bored I stopped playing. Now I'm back after almost 6 months and is so excited to have new things to work on, it might be overwhelming with 3 machines in 1 go but those machines were long overdue anyways. If they had been added them earlier, I might have not had to take such a long break. So I'm sad that what makes you unhappy means the exact opposite for me. For me it's pure happiness and a reason for me to play HD again.

Nothing.

You'll have 3 new machines which you'll just try too max out production as much as possible to achieve the masteries.
The same you're doing for the feed mills.

Nothing exciting about that.

There are no new farm goals added, no new land to explore, etc only 3 new machines (and some crops).

Why should high level players be excited?

Wait, you lost we there for a moment. Are you complaining about new things being added or the lack of? Because in one sentence you're saying 3 machines isn't something to get excited about but then in another it sounds like you're complaining about no new goals or land added. Make up your mind because I'm lost ..

You might not be excited over the 3 machines but I'm personally really excited. Some of the items added are items I've requested in the past so I'm really happy to see them. I'll enjoy making them. I really enjoy growing rice too because I think they look so pretty and I like how my fields look blue and wet when I grow it. My machines aren't ready until another day but I've been to other farms where they are running and I enjoy looking at the salad and sushi bar. They look so cool and is much more detailed than the older machines and I'm just in awe with how good SC's graphic designer is at making things that look pleasant to the eye. Things like that makes me excited. Heck, I still have a soft spot for the potato and potato-based products because they came during a time when I was dying for something new. So yeah, adding new machines is something super exciting. How fun would it be to work hard to earn XP to level up if there's nothing new to unlock and look forward to?


Edit: I realize you might not have played nearly as long as I have so you might not be as in love with HD as I am. HD is by date the longest I've played a game, it's been over a year. Great games like HD doesn't get developed every day and I was fortunate enough to be one of the first to play it when it was still new and unknown. I've gotten to follow the progress, seeing new things being added slowly, seeing that brand new game develop into what it is today. Go from a half empty forum community where I basically knew everyone and see it bloom to what it is today, seeing new members and name I don't recgonize. It's been an amazing ride. Truly. Thank you SC! I'm so passionate about this game lol! I used to fight and argue so much on the forum because my passion was just overflowing lol!

@Namoh, the fact that they introduced three machines proves it right that the first six (?) hours generate the highest cha ching for diamonds as people will speed construction up and let Tom run (who will of course find enough new products within seconds after introduction, there is this secret storage in the mines... Lol, how sweet thinking that they would be passively waiting for people to actually produce something new for Tom to find...)

All believers, please realize that SC is not the same anymore, it is now owned by anonymous investers in Asia. From every 30 diamonds, which equal 1 Euro, 50 Eurocents cha ching to Japan. Same counts for every lost diamond in the game: cha ching to Japan when you buy new.

I do not even mind that, some just need to sleep in golden beds, not my cup of tea.

I do mind that they make me feel being a cha ching. That is abo♥♥♥♥ely NOT what I want to spend my time for. Call me Carmen Cha Ching, doesnt suit me, does it?

People that will let Tom run, him whether or not there is a new product. Although you say you don't care about their profit, it sounds you're rather obsessed with it. The investors in Asia are not anonymous. It probably won't take you more thanca minute to find out if you wanted to. Lost diamonds in the game is a casualty, not how they make their $$$. I've accidently lost diamonds just like any other player but the diamonds I've received free in the game is still by far much more than I've lost.

And like I said, my second farm is right now in the small group that is testing out the double click confirmation button. Ivpersonslly tried it already and I think it's great. If I'm not alone eith those thought, I think it might get added tovthr game sooner than we think. They might be able to develop or test things quicker and more efficient now with all their profit. Who knows?


Edit: They're not forcing us to spend money so they can't really make us "a cha ching" without our consent. I'm for one is not spending diamonds to speed up the machines nor with I spend any to hire Tom. I'll just be patient and enjoy my "free" machines. It's actually a win-win. SC can rack in through the impatient players while I get new machines. They're essentially the ones making it possible for the others to play for free.

I don't get why people get annoyed at SC making a profit. Yes, they are manipulating some players, but only those who are too impatient to wait the time it takes for items, facilities etc. to be ready. You don't HAVE to spend real money on a game that is basically free.
