2. When do you use the DD?
I'm curious because I always fill the stalls with random items that you don't normally see in the paper. I usually post when I need help (boat or trees/bushes) or when I need to make room in storage.
I was just wondering what other people do.
1) I put normal things (plain popcorn, sweaters, pasta etc) in my rss when I advertise, and leave better stuff (cakes, cream, sugar, ice cream etc) or premium goods (blankets, fish fillet, etc) unadvertised for my friends.
2) I use the DD when I ran out of certain items like milk or soy beans. Or when I need something in particular for a boat order. Or -when I have enough barn space- I buy good stuff and give it to my friends. Or just to find BEMs and SEMs
I hunt for things like pumpkins, peppers, strawberries. And if I find tomatoes for sale I take them. No matter how many I happen to have in my silo. If I’m lucky enough to grab tapes or wood panels, or honey, wax, sugar, dairy, I’m a happy farmer.
But for selling, once a dayI clean a lot of stuff out of my barn; sandwiches, cakes, pies, carrot juice, coffees, teas, all my LEMs, TEMs and extra BEMs and SEMs that I get too many of. I make about 300,000 coins.
Won’t sell ingredients except for cornbread and my evening corn sales.
I don't put up much ads. I leave what I put there for friends. I also don't advertise right away when I have flags, so that my friends have a chance to help first if they want too. If I do advertise it will usually be eggs, and wheat if I'm wheating.
I don’t usually advertise, but I normally put up common things that one doesn’t always have enough of, like eggs and wool. And when the barn is overflowing, I will put small quantities of just about everything I have more than 10-15 of, and always at default prices.
When I do advertise it is usually a crops. Rustic bouquets may be in my stand but always at default and never advertised.
If I have more than what I think I will need, I will sell almost anything, except feathers. I don’t think I have ever sold feathers.
Mostly soybean and rice, since I can make decent money from that.
Also anything I did a production task on: so lots of cakes, juices etc.
If I put up premium products I don't advertise initially, so that my hood members have first shot at it.
If I sell on the DD it'll be because my boat is in desperate need of help for something that I do not have. (grape jam, honey popcorn). I will put up something good, like a black hat or a blanket or pillow if I have lots, as a token thank you.
I like to make nice shops for my hoodies and my friends and followers. These are always unadvertised.
I put various items in my stall, leave them for a while to see if my friends buy. I advertise in the DD when I need to make space to refill my stall. I often wheat so then I advertise.
I put nothing in DD. Anything I have goes to my hood
Usually something I want to advertise that my container ship needs attention ... for that I want to put something up that won't be snapped up immediately ... nowadays that means a rustic bouquet at max price.
I usually put up Milk Tea, Quesadillas, Fish Tacos, and Onion Dogs for my hood.
I have 2 farms , on one of them the support farm I never avertis ,
The top farm I sell really much stuff , All things that I cant sell to my team go out in the shop and on avetis ,
I grows all fields and try to have all machinery to work as effektive I can ,
The only thing I dont sell is things there is to much of in DD already , and things that is to expensive to do ,
So I sell really much Axes , land expand things , corn , bread , milk ,noodles and many other things ,And I mean really much !
Have playd HD for so long time now so I dont care abut Boats and Cars , if I dont have them on a Derby task or there is a Event or something ,
OUT WITH the stuff in the DD so I get rid of it ,
(only sad that I have so much coins )
I only advertise something if I need help filling a boat crate. And then it is usually wheat. I sell cornbread,carrot pies, carrot juice, milk tea, popcorn, and both kinds of pasta nightly (unless I have filled orders/crates for those things recently and need to replenish my own stock first). I also sell milk, eggs, bacon, goat milk, axes, saws, and mining equipment when I have too many. I will also offload other things if I have a lot of them. BEMs and SEMs to keep the amounts I have of each relatively equal. I also sell LEMs fairly often, as I have all the land and don't need them. I sell more often when my barn is overflowing. No ads so neighbors and friends get the first shot.
I sometimes use the DD to find things for upcoming boats, or to search for a crop if I am running low. I will also buy anything I want or need if I find it while searching the paper for people needing help while working on a help task.
Another one that doesn't advertise unless wheating and trying to get rid of surplus after slots in feed machines are full.
I only sell to hoodies and if anything is left, to friends.
ETA - I don't even try and find anything in the DD. I know I'm not alone in seeing only certain items in the DD so I won't bother listing them.
Usually tho, I buy wheat if my fields are busy and I need wheat.
Red hats are the way to go. I’m not sure what a DD is, but I always advertise a red hat in paper if I need help. Gets help every time.
DD is an abbreviation for the Daily Dirt which is the newspaper we can advertise in, or buy things from. There is an excellent guide in the New to Hay Day sub-forum that lists all the abbreviations that are commonly used on the forums.Quote:

When I put other goodies in my shop, I don’t advertise at first so friends and neighbors can have if they need. If there is stuff neighbors didn’t want after so much time, I will put an advertise on it. Although I know how nice it is to find more rare items in the DD, so every now and again, I put some goodies in shop and advertise and hope someone is happy to find it.
I don't put up too much stuff usually. I usually try to convert my extra goods into XP either through a truck order or a town building.
However, during some of the derby tasks (production/farming/collecting) I end up with a large supply of extra stuff that creeps up on my max barn/silo space meter. So, I will usually sell off items for default price just as a nice Easter Egg for someone shopping the DD.
Whenever I am wheating I will always throw in unneeded expansion materials, bolts, tapes, town stuff, LEMs, etc. and advertise.
About once a day I'll fill it up with other goodies at default I have a surplus over my normal holding amounts. And during the rest of the day I'll randomly fill it with all crops at default. I usually wait about 10 minutes and then hit ad. Not because I am impatient but really because like most other players I don't like seeing a DD full of rustic bouquets and hats and feel it would be somewhat hypocritical to not advertise seeing as I get just as fed up with a useless DD.
I mostly put fruit. Sometimes other items but fruit is what I "specialize" in.
Mostly non-tradeable items for good coin, like blackberries, cacao, cotton shirts etc. Never wheat, even if i am a compulsive wheater. I worked hard to bring my silo to 3200, and thus all my wheat goes to the visitors. Can't remember the last time i sold wheat on the rss.
I am always making things on my farm to sell, even though I don’t need the coins. I will advertise things when I need help with boat crates, or when my barn needs more space. I never sell fish filets, lobsters or bees wax though. Most times I just load up my shop for my neighborhood without advertising. I sell everything, hate seeing any of my machines sitting idle.
definitely easier to list things i never sell - - white/brown sugar, syrup, cream, butter, cheeses, honeycombs, honey, wax
pretty much everything else gets sold. I have a personal limit on how many I'm allowed to hold per item, mainly based on how many a boat or townie will take. For example, I try to keep 10+ carrot juice on hand at all times, but I really only need 4 or 5 of any soups. So excess gets posted.
When the shop is full, I give the NH a warning to check it out, then inevitably one of my friends will find it, or I post an ad and it's gone.
I also list parts very often. I only ever work on one upgrade at a time, so all other parts are posted as I get them (I don't hold onto them because temptation to work on multiple things will get to me, then my barn is full and I'm struggling).
Crops also. I have a minimum amount of crops I hold (depending on the crop) and all excess gets sold. Including wheat.
These days the only time I go into the DD is for wheat, late at night, when I'm filling my feed machines with sanctuary feed (trying to get that 3rd star!). If I see something nice and I'm fast enough, I might grab it - even if I don't need it, so I can leave it in my shop for friends/NH while I sleep.
I rarely leave the game with an empty shop, unless someone found it before I left, and I cleared it out. I don't like to leave sold items in the shop, because honestly, it makes me feel bad when I flip through other friends shops and see what I missed. I don't want my friends to see what they missed, it might just make them sad.
