Why you play...

One of the things that has amazed me about Hay Day is the varied Goals players have. as well as how seriously Some take it!! lol. I can't tell you haw many other players have told me that I am "doing it wrong!" because my farm doesn't look like theirs or I "waste" money on certain items. I play mainly as a diversion, but I do have a plan of sorts and a goal for my little farm. For me the look of my farm is more important than achievements or gaining huge amounts of money, so I send on decorations and such. Will that change? Probably! lol for now though, it keeps me occupied and I Like the way my farm is progressing.

What is your goal for this game???

There defiantly is no right or wrong way to play and the wonderful team at sc designed it so that we could all play the way we want or that suits us best

I am pretty certain that the individual gaming styles reflect the personality of the gamer. As there is no right or wrong for a lifestyle in RL (with the exception of stealing, lying, killing etc) there cant be a right or wrong for a gaming style. Generous and compassionate people will be acting the same way here, anxious people will be hoarding, extroverts will interact a lot and introverts will have very few slots at their RSS and so on.

People who are less materialistic will invest in decoration and beauty, others will have a functional and highly efficient farm.

The diversity is one of the keys to success of Hay Day I think, you are so little limited and have so many ways to play, decorate, be social or materialistic. Anyone can have personal 'successes' and satisfaction while other games are a compilation of restrictions.

Use that chance! As in RL, solely act the way it makes YOU happy :-)

One of the things I do like is to try and fill friends boat orders, although it's frustrating sometimes to see a long list of dairy/sugar orders but nevertheless I do try my best to help them, I have even trawled friends RSS and bought items at maximum cost just to help them get boat deliveries on their way. I receive pms sometimes asking for help with board orders.
so I suppose the game is more of a social thing for me as I have over 400 friends on my GC list.

I don't do Facebook or Game Centre. I play because I get bored easily and I'm never bored when I'm working my farm. I've tried to make my farm somewhere I would like to live and think farms that have been clear-felled are sad, and wonder how players keep track of everything in farms that are crammed full. I have a few dedicated followers who seem to be playing the same sort of game and we all help each other out - I know I can rely on them even though we have no way to communicate our needs except through the alerts. I also buy items from the DD to help them and players who have recently helped me. I buy items that are scarce wherever I find them so I always have items in my barn to help whoever needs it, and I buy stuff from new players just to help them along, whether I need the items or not. Tilly, Mike and the others will always buy wheat, eggs and bacon if i overstock, and so I gain a bit of XP along the way. One thing I don't understand is why players stockpile dead trees and bushes instead of clearing them and harvesting the resultant XP. Does anyone have any insight into this behaviour?

I think a lot of players buy fruit trees just to harvest the fruit for a quick profit without thinking about how many axes or saws will be needed to clear them. My daughter got caught by this until she figured that part out.

Wow CENFF, you've took the words right out of my mouth ! ;) What a fab post!

I consider myself to be a generous extrovert. I rake through the DD looking for low level players so I can buy from them (even at maximum prices ). I love putting 10 wheat up for sale at 1 coin & smile when I see one of my lower follower buying it & reselling for maximum price. Tomorrow (in RL) I'm dropping a food parcel off at our newly opened food bank! Why ? Because I can ( thankfully ) afford it & Ive alway got a buzz out of helping other people wether it be in cyber of RL.
As for the extrovert in me~ I can't stay way from this forum~.
Why do I play this game ? It take me away from RL ( and we all need that sometimes) .I have a son with a disability and sometimes life is hard, so jumping onto my cyber farm gives me that escape. Oh & keeps me sane ! Lol:cool:

I think you have summed it up well.:)
I am progressing fairly slowly compared to a lot of players but I play the game to relax and enjoy it. I love helping other people's trees and boats but the dairy/sugar crates are hard and I can rarely fill them. I do look in the DD to help too.
I also find satisfaction in helping on Woozle's giveaway thread and have a number of new friends and neighbours from this.

I have played other farming games and none can compare to HayDay for me...I like being able to help my neighbors out as much as I can....I've also enjoyed the interactions of everyone on the forum (I may not post as much as some do but I read everything ;)) and becoming their fellow neighboring farmer..

....for me this forum is that little extra something that makes me like HayDay that much more:cool:

I play this game because it's FUN. Working the cute little farm, harvesting the crops, animals, machine products, selling, buying, watering others' trees, helping others' boats, etc. It's all a lovely working puzzle with the pieces dovetailing nicely. There's still plenty to look forward to and enjoy, more masteries and achievements. I enjoy looking at other farms, both the "natural" kind and the structured jam-packed kind. I clear cut every tree and rock off my land so I could replant with the ones I myself wanted to grow. Did the same thing IRL, so I supposed my farm style mirrors real life to a degree. I'm known as "the flower lady" as I live on a busy street corner and have a lot of traffic passing by. Even the little kids who came trick-or-treating on Halloween said one after the other "Your house is pretty" and other words to that effect. And it was dark outside. :)

All that to say different strokes for different folks, and that's yet another facet to this fun game. Some "natural," some not so much, but hey - it's ALL good!

Of course, on the subject of trees, while I don't regret cutting any and all of them down because they were in the way of me seeing my livestock and whether or not they were fed, what do you know but I planted coffee plants between them all, and guess what, the full grown bushes cover up the animals on that side. Go figure!! :D (I've since learned to count my feed before feeding them to know if they're all fed or not. Live and learn. :) )
