TH sniping should no longer give shields

It is ironic how self proclaim farmers bash the high cuppers for hiding behind free shields for 50+ pages, and then turn around and call their method of obtaining a free shields game strategy and would quit the game if Super Cell were to do anything about it.

The act of allowing players to use a few archers or a hero to win cups without any skill whatsoever, could possibly be considered a che@t, don't you guys think?

I am not going to go that far, but it is an exploit of game mechanics and not in the spirit of the game. Basically, the same argument for what all the farmers uses to flame the high cuppers pertains to free shields being placed outside. They want to hide behind a free shield so their resources would be safe instead of allowing for their actual defense to defend against it.

I am a farmer myself, and I have my TH inside. I do not need the free shield, because I prefer to have my defense do its job. Farming will still exist even if the shield is taken away for your TH being destroyed.

what high level players were doing was an exploitation, th sniping is not. If supercell reduced the cost of upgrades (no chance) then farming wouldn't be necessary. However with expensive upgrades farming is essential to upgrade a base without gems.

Ppl having lower lvl town halls seem not quite understand how expensive the game can be. Th9&10 have no cheap upgrades any more, similarly th8 if has upgraded to near max level. All ppl also have no possibility to guard they base 24/7. Most of them cannot gem everything they need. Therefore the only viable strategy to survive long enough to get a strong base for move to high trophy ranges is to protect the resources. As you probably (?) have noticed, all stuff cannot be fitted within the wall regardless how hard you try, or else you get a base that is vulnerable. If th outside the walls would not give a shield when sniped this would soon result in shortage of resources due to multiple raids and lowered protection level (traps are consumed already in the first raids) of the base. The simple consequence would be that a large number of ppl would be forced to quit because they can only poorly advance in the game. This would have serious effects on the game both at lower and higher trophy ranges: there would be not enough bases to raid regardless of whether the attacker is a farmer or trophy hunter. The farming strategy with a cheap shield is simply a must for survival of the game and for sc to maintain the high profit level. Farming is available to everyone and as such it does not take anything from anyone. It is just a legit survival strategy to advance in the game without investing a fortune on it. It is also a valid trophy hunting strategy at least to crystal levels, of higher levels I have yet no experience. As I see this, the game is just more interesting when there are several playing strategies available. It would lose enormously if it were mere trophy hunting regardless of how strong or weak base you have.

The difference the OP seems to be incapable of grasping is that cheap shields guaranteed no one could attack your base. Free shields on the other hand are a gamble, there is nothing preventing anyone and everyone from flattening my base. I am not hiding my base from anyone, it is up for grabs and gets flattened by stronger players just as often as I get a "free shield". There is a huge difference between gambling on the outcome and fixing it.

Gunnermatt already explained that there is a difference between what the top cuppers used to do and purposefully leaving your TH outside. Your suggestion would force everyone to use a trophy hunting or hybrid base, which would decrease the base layout options and in my opinion take a lot of the fun away. If you want to be a valiant trophy hunter with your TH inside your base, go ahead, but don't make everyone else do that as well. Some people enjoy hunting for cups, others like to farm, very few seem to want to do both.

Better left the way it is IMHO.

But I'm a farmer with my TH outside :)

If SC did take away the shield for TH destruction, I'd still leave my TH outside, so nothing would be achieved other than it annoying me a little :D and resulting in more trophy inflation as lots of farmers' THs would be sniped.

Therefore, a pointless change.

Crazy claim. Of course it can be attacked and it will be attacked. It occurs several time a day an every day. Any time someone attacks he can freely choose whether to try one star or three stars. There are lots of ppl hunting trophies and this also for them a way to reach up (and become food of more advanced high trophy players). Most farmers dont care to have the shield as long as they could because they also need to raid to get loot. Farming is not simply sleeping under shield. Dont understand this? The fact that many farmer bases, like mine, become seldomly severely raided is simply because the base is so strong that the attacker chooses the safer approach and takes just the th. Personally I dont care where the th is located. If there is enough loot in the base I always go in and take what I can. When I am not in game I like to have the shield but naturally same way it is up to the attacker whether he only snipes the th or tries to get the whole base.

I think though there might be a solution which would both maintain the possibility to have the shield and same time provide more bases to be raided. If SC simply would made raiding possible while you are attacking (thus away from the base) then also farmers would be more vulnerable but this would not affect the basic concepts of the game and it would maintain the freedom to choose an individual game strategy. Mere trophy hunting all time is boring and does significantly hamper advancement in the game of perhaps majority of the players, since most ppl farm at various points.

If Supercell removes these shields, they are ruined. They are already losing a lot of top players because of the revenge function. Cmon, their profit is much more important than some people's opinion about whats weak or not. They get their profit through our fun, and if we (most forumers are farmers and want these easy shields, like me) can not farm due to lighning or get raided 5x with 39%, thn it sucks and even more players will quit. (most attackers can not avoid destroying townhall)

Someone said this already and I just want to agree with them. Putting your TH outside your base and hoping it gets sniped is not the same as attacking yourself for a cheap shield.

Also so this would hurt High level players too because a lot of them go straight for TH and only get one star. That would leave bases vulnerable to repeatedly getting one starred all night.

I for one am th7, and just put it on the outside to make room for storages lol the shield's are just a bonus and oddly enough people seem to attack my main base rather than my townhall
