Revenge Change and how it affects top players
First off, the previous thread was closed due to incessant flaming and name calling. Lets not have that happen again.
Secondly, the players in the top ranks are upset and rightfully so. They feel as if SC has turned its back on them after they've spent thousands of dollars to get to where they are.
Thirdly farmers and high end masters players are happy because they feel as if SC has eliminated a major exploit of the game, and they have.
Lets look at some of the facts here. When farming some raids you find will yield 35 trophies and some will yield 10. This is because of the difference in your trophy count compared to your opponents trophy level. The larger the gap between your trophy count and your opponents means the trophy count earned will be huge, or tiny. You can always pick another base to raid if you want more trophies. However if you take a player with 4,200 trophies 99.99999% of the players they attack will have lower trophy counts and thus yield lower trophy winnings. On the other hand 99.99999% of players who attack them will find a huge trophy earning. This basic concept is what is flawed and drives too end players to exploit the loop hole of attacking clan mates or "minis." They feel the right to do so, and players struggling to reach the top tier feels its a huge exploit.
Every argument has 2 sides, and every side has logical viewpoints. It's hard to say either side is "in the wrong" with this argument. Supercell has chosen to side with the idea that so called "cheap shields" are being abused and have done their best to end them. How does this affect the status quo? Now players will not be able to manipulate the system to gain a 12 hour shield as easily, and will help players struggling to reach the top end of the trophy spectrum to do so in a way SC feels is more fair. Also it means that initially less players will have 4,000+ trophies because they'll be raided and 2 to 3 star'd more frequently dropping their trophy count. However this should in theory bring more and more players into the upper echelons of Champions league which will directly lower the time it takes to search for a decent raid, and that will (in the long term) raise the overall trophy count of top players.
So while both sides have strong views on the issue, SC did it because regardless of either sides arguments they feel it is in the best interest of the game and will cause a ripple effect long term to help more players reach the top ranks.

I greatly appreciate the changes you made (supercell), this benefits those who play honestly.
It is right and just that we all play by the same rules.
Congratulations! if some champions threaten to leave the game, do so! many others will stay because finally did justice!

I too am an honest champion that would just like to thank Supercell for levelling the playing field.
The way the cheap shield brigade have reacted with their sense of entitlement to exploit what effectively is a chčat is laughable.
Take your bat and ball and go home, or adapt to playing legitimately, either way, supercell and the community will do just fine with or without them.
Anyone know why a bunch of top clans all changed there shields?
