If you war do not get x-bows until you max everything else and have 15/15 heros IMO. It adds a whole lot to your weight. In my clan I'm 2nd in war and the guy above me has th8 lvl defenses and x-bows. I'm nearly maxed th9 with no x-bows. I always have to attack 1&2.
I agree...don't upgrade ur town hall until ur maxed out ...once ur maxed out th9 will no longer b tough for you...btw u can do mass loons from th8 too...hope you understood wt I said
It depends. Can you show a picture of your base?
TH8 is brutal, but you don't want to rush yourself into a hole.
Over defenses and walls, I would make sure your barb king, troops, clan castle, and army camps are maxed out before you upgrade. If not, you’ll be relying on your collectors for loot until you get high enough to raid successfully.
If your troops are maxed completely for th8(army camp, all barracks, barb king and spells) you should be fine unless your defense is badly rushed. If they are, stay th8 until you get them to a decent level. Maxing is good, but if you want to move on it's your choice.
I understand where your coming from there is so much at th9. max out at th8 it will make th9 a lot easier honestly
I see your point, but there is never really a reason to upgrade your town hall without maxing out th8 first. It will make th9 a lot harder, even though it seems VERY attractive!

Upgrade asap... if you're wondering whether or not to upgrade at th8, then it's probably overdue... I rushed to th9, and I'm now almost fully max and way ahead of clanmates who spent 52 years at th8
PS. I assume you've seen what th8 has to offer i.e valks, golem, pekka e.t.c and your king is at least higher than 5.
If the above is true, then upgrade the town hall, even if you war. Clash on🍻

TH9 is a hard place for someone without good army. You'd have to drop a few leagues to get decent loot. If you're a war player then go ahead unless you don't have max TH8 army and heroes
Seems pretty divided here, all I can offer is my point of view and experiences with one of my bases.
I have a th9 that is super rushed, at each town hall level I only stayed long enough to upgrade barch and loons. Once I got to th9 I unlocked/upgraded laloonion. You can easily 3 star in war with mass loons up through th8 and once you get laloon you can now 3 any th8 and entry level th9s. I would do this again if I was trying to get further quickly.
Th9 is the best place to farm, the best place to stay and learn the game. It's where tactics finally come into play. Make your queen a priority.
So long story short, I'd go for it. But wait on xbows until you can 3 star a th9 with the same level xbows. Don't get ahead of yourself, there is always that next big defense you'll want, so why rush it?
