Nook HD Touchscreen Issue

I recently purchased a Nook HD as a second device for clashing. It works great, except for one small glitch... the touchscreen doesn't work reliably in clan chat and global, specifically on the tabs and text area. It works fine on every other application - I'm able to touch and select every icon in the upper left corner, regardless of the screen's orientation. When running CoC, though, the upper left corner becomes practically unusable. Repeated taps or mashing my whole finger on the area sometimes makes it work. Only sometimes, though.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior?

are there any problems with this device?
can you attack another village without having problems?

I'm very happy with my Nook HD. The build quality is definitely lower than an iPad, but it also cost $140, so...

I didn't have any problem linking it to my account. I know the 'judder' effect you're talking about, and I see it most when I use a stylus. Fingers-only seems to work just fine. The screen isn't as 'smooth' as an iPad... almost like tapping and swiping on very finely textured glass. For the money, though, it's an amazing deal. The screen resolution rivals a Retina Display, the colors are fantastic, and the gameplay is zippy.

These were flying out of stores a few weeks ago. I had to drive about 45 minutes away to find one.

Update on my previous issue: I've found that one orientation works better than the other, so I always clash with the device in that position. It's not perfect, but for the cost/quality, problem solved.
