I tried your v1 trophy base last push and it did extremely well against hogs, and relatively well against loons. Very happy, looking forward to trying it next push when my teslas will be maxed.

Mavios - Thanks so much for sharing your design. I have a month old Level 95 TH9 using your v2 trophy for my clan's current push. I have been using it for 3 days and I have yet to lose to a hog raid as long as I had my heroes healthy and wizards in my cc. I am sitting at just over 2700 cups and have only been 3 starred once and that was right after a successful defense against a hog army and I had no traps, heroes or cc.
As long as you set it up as you designed it and all defenses are up and running, it works. Even if your TH9 is not maxxed!

Have 1 AD upgrading and 1 WT. Testlas not fully upgraded yet.
Won defense against 34 L4 hogs - 44%
Lost against 24 L6 balloons + 52 L4 minions 57% probably because AD upgrading, my Xbows are pointing up for extra AD
Won against 36 L5 hogs 32%
Lost vs 12 L4 hogs 12 L6 giants, 60 L6 archers 6 minutes later from no traps being set

Just dropping in to say thanks - worked well, took it during our 10-day long practice trophyrun to 2989. We're runnig a full-clan trophy hunt in January so we'll do some more testing on the th9 and mod a th10 version. To be honest, it held up better than I thought as I'd signed off symmetrical bases as too weak for +2600 with TH9 defenses.
All in all, vs hogs no worries unless traps, CC and hero's are gone, then it's 100%. Had bombs upgraded to full and only 1/5 hoggers could cope with them. GoWiWi + heroes was the only able to 100% a few times. Loons were 1-2 star losses (note I was runnign with Xbows pointed downwards all the time) till I moved one Lvl 7 Ad instead of the Dark storage and switched ad/mortar. Also changed the trap enplacements a bit but nothing major ;)
Out of some 20 attacks after 2600 total balance was about +50. Finished the push with a nice +18 win agains hogs with 5 min on the clock till counting time...
Right now the base is in a bit of a wierd setup as I'm farming my way back down - interestingly enough I've only had 10 th snipes, and not a single attack in 4 days when coming down from 2900.

Nice, btw it's a transformer base meaning you can easily switch between farming and trophy hunting mode. So it was designed so people can put TH outside or in the middle

Just to let you guys know. I'm currently testing a new anti-hog transformer base that has a bit harder to lure cc, 2 AD in core to address the air attacks, 2 mortars in core to address the support troops that come along a hog raid and generally a bigger layout. will test it while I farm for walls. However, considering the new update will have a big impact on hog raids, it might never see the light.
Im TH9 and Crystal 1. I disagree mavios, anti hog bases will still be needed for TH8 & TH9. I know I will be using hogs against those TH and premie TH10's. I would be happy to test your bases like I currently am. If you look at my current base setup, I am upgrading one giant bomb but also doing some trap testing. I have 4 "killzones" set up for hogs. Two spots will be pairs of giant bombs. One spot is a square of 4 spring traps, and the last spot right now is 4 lvl 4 bombs. I did notice that 4 lvl 4 bombs is almost equivalent to 1 giant bomb. I had 4 lvl 4 bombs in a square next to one lvl 3 giant bomb and hogs set off all the bombs in that killzone and it killed them all. Since I moved spring traps around, I closed off all the openings that let giants walk right in.
Will be much more effective now with the onset of multishot inferno.
I've seen loads of anti-hog bases now, especially from say 2400+, and typically they are all pretty easy to get 50% on with a b-arch / giant-arch / BAM type of army; I myself got a really easy 50% on one a few days ago with my own BAM variant, and it had great loot. A bit like it's hard to make them ballinion-proof, as well as anti-hog. You can't win 'em all... But I don't run with that army much over 2400 cups.
It's all a balance, in terms of what your major attacker is (personally, I'd seen the % of hoggers decrease slightly, but I still get hogged a lot from time to time in Crystal, maybe 50% of attacks on my own anti-hog base?)
I'll post some Th10 defense videos using the black whole design. You will see level 4 giant bombs already make smoked bacon out of them. The new inferno will almost kill the anti-hog designs for TH10. I think we better wait and see though.

Mavios... This base really is a work of art. It has changed the way I think of base design. Many of my clan used it successfully on a trophy push last week when they got sick of the damn pigs. I've spent the last few weeks, creating and re-creating different versions of it in CoCBuilder and trying them out.
I've had much fun and success with my current farming layout (I'm a new TH9). I prefer AD to teslas around the core as I'm paranoid of air attacks. Note The Black Whole influences on the side sections. The middle layer has more compartments which I've found really annoys attackers trying to get inside.

Here is a defence video from yesterday. Only 20 hogs (mixed with 15 giants) but the ring is working as intended. Not the greatest attacker but I think he left with less loot than he hoped for.

Thanks! I'm using the Anti-Hog v.2 variation with a little modification (closed the funnels and moved some buildings) and it's working great! Hogs get only 0-2 stars. I'm currently at the master III league. This base is really good for hunting trophies and to prevent hogs from getting ★★★'s

I have been using the farming layout at 1800, 90% maxed TH9. It has held up nicely, especially since I am upgrading all 4 teslas at the same time. On a full assault, I generally see one elixir lost, and one gold hit (50-100%) loss. The last golem raid was the first time the inner core was breached but no damage. If teslas were operational, that would of never happened. I look forward to DE farming with this base.

Between mav and myself, we have pretty much got the black hole for th10 nailed, I've been too 2800 on it, without much offense. Next cup push I'll be looking to make champion with it, fingers crossed.

hey skwalogs!! Base is looking great, one thing id recommend is move the defenses that are outside, up against the walls in the corners.
For example, the right archer tower is in the right spot, if you move it against the walls it's nearest too, will continue the flow of the hogs, and work better. :)

I wanted to thank you for this design !
I've been using it for about 2 weeks now, and it works really well, against good variety of armies.
Out of about 10-12 attacks with hogs, only 2-3 did actually succeed, despite my base being still a very young TH9 (new defenses are not up to TH8 lvl yet, no defense was upgraded to TH9 lvl).
On top of that, among the few attacks which succeeded, a good part did because my clan castle had been already emptied by previous attackers or because my traps had been already triggered. With full clan castle and fully ready traps, the percentage of success of attackers drops to maybe 5-10% !
So far, very effective design !

But it didn't work for me ..the hogs destroyed the base
After destroying the Airdefence, it broke into two, one went for the Wiz Tower, and the other for the Xbow

Your defenses are indeed way too low for this kind of attack. Level 7 tesla's, mortars and wiztowers would have decreased the damage significantly. I think not one build is good enough for 24 (or more) maxed hogs with 4 maxed healing spells. Mine wouldn't have even held up and I got an almost maxed TH9 (except walls). They probably wouldn't have 3-starred me though. You're just a bit premmie, but keep it up! ;)
Thanks for the comments, I just upgraded from TH8 a few weeks ago, yeah, got loads more to upgrade. Well the design did significantly reduce more than half of the hogs which if considered excellent, guess when up against strong troops / spells like those, a solid defense is a necessity.
Just an update:
Got hit by more Hogs last night (whats this with Hogs and raiding TH9 lol). I've tweaked the base a bit and results were great....I won a raid against a greater opponent (35 lvl5 Hogs) than before...I probably need to tweak it more...anyway, thx again, base and comments were a great help.

Actually the best method to avoid getting raid or defeated by Hog raid is a well placed Inferno Tower (with the current Multiple targeting update)...thats for TH10.
For TH9, with your current setup, only way to reduce getting a 3 star defeat (or sometimes even a win) is a good Anti-Hog style base. I might say I won against 35 lvl5 Hogs today, but I might even lose 100% the next day.
It depends on a lot of factors to win...some raiders just fumble it like forget to destroy the CC troops, backup troop deployed too late to reinforce the hogs, Wrong Spell location, etc. They could have won big, but lost due to their own fault...well..no one is perfect....just countinue to raid and raid

I'm also beginning to think that there is in fact no effective way for a TH9 to defend against a skilled TH10 baconmonger who clears the CC and heroes, doesn't mindlessly spam units and chooses an area to attack from that will break hog-rings or exploit obvious faults in most anti-hog base designs.
But I'm not 100% convinced yet ;)
One thing I can say for certain is that this anti-hog base design does not hold up against skilled players. It was the first one I used to great success until it became too well known and people became more proficient in the use of hogs. Too much hinges on the double giant bombs in the corners, the placement of which is obvious and exploitable. A small contingent of hogs or other units can set it off at the same time they pull CC (I have personally seen it happen a dozen times).

Well, there were countless raids by Hograider, BLoons, Wizards, etc...in the Crystal 1 league.
And Hogs are very popular here
How well it stood against the raids?...well...I must say, against hogs its a 50/50 thing...it depends a lot on the hog raiders skills.
A normal spamming of 30 hogs at one spot the base will win most of the time.
But if the raider cuts the chain using lightning strikes to destroy a Air defense, or use 2 wave attack, or spam at 4 spots at one, the Anti Hog will not work...
But, at least there is a 50/50 chance against Hog raiders....better than no chance at all.
I'm sure players base with better lvl defenses might increase the percentage of a win.
My base is pretty much basic
Now, i am back to farming (just couldn't breakthrough those TH10 with multi target inferno), I may try out something else.

I noticed on a few sides you have a defense outside like a cannon or AT why is that ?
It should work...try putting the Wiz tower closer to the Air defense...check the vid i posted above
But as I said previously, you will win and lose some...in order to increase winning chances against the raiders, your defenses needs to be upgraded more
Thats the beauty of this base.....its a cool and functional concept
1) Hog and Giants will target the outside defense while getting splash by the Wiz Tower.
2) When the raider has destroyed the structure, it has to come back in the wall...easy trap for them using spring traps
3) It allows for upgrades to be done while still maintaining the function of the Anti-hog
Bump for one of the greatest base since the last update.
Cruising at 2300 cups, hogs are getting roasted, balloons are getting flattened and giants can't even enter the ring :cool:
The last raid got me to master after a couple of attack fails, one of them when I was only 9 trophies off!

did a little bit of revision using this base and i made it thru 2,913 cups. highest damage i got is 84%. got attacked by 3 maxed golems 28 maxed wizz 14 maxed wb and lvl40 heroes. im th9 thanks for making this layout👍 you rock bro
This is my first time posting. I just wanted to thank the creator of Black Hole. I'm th9 n use the anti hog v2. I stay around 1500 range, so i dont get a lot of hogs, but when i do, they rarely get more than 1 star. The best thing I like about the layout is how giants go around the perimeter of the base, granted some skilled wb users can get to center.
I'm just so glad I found black hole, i dont have to spend countless minutes trying to tweak things. Now I just worry about attacking n upgrading. Thanks a million!

I tried this base for the last 2 days of the hunt. got attacked twice. The first attack was a loon attack. Got a 53% loss, 1 star which is fair enough considering that this base is not supposed to do great against air raids.
Second one was a revenge by mass hogs and it was a 3 star defeat. Lost 42 cups which hurt really a lot as it was on the last nigh of the push.
The weak point is what I expected it to be. Mortar on the bottom left is very close to the xbow. Some of the hogs continued down to the AT but some went for the Xbow in the core and cleaned the core.
I made a slight modification by pushing the walls one tile to the left and then pushing also the mortar one tile, so it get a bit further from the xbows. The wall junctions in that compartment will not be staggered properly, but hopefully it will solve the hogs jumping to the core issue.
Has not been tested yet as now I have switched to farming mode.
Edit. Was looking at the TH10 version of this base and actually the modifications i made (mentioned above) are not necessary. What I can do is to switch Teslas with Xbows and DE. I hope that will solve the problem without changing the layout itself.
Base worked great for me (hog v2) from crystal through to masters 3 - won about 80% of defences and the losses generally followed a win that had emptied CC, traps etc.
I had another attack yesterday which I won. But in this case hogs did not manage to get to the mortar on the bottom left which is the weak point (they were toasted by two giant bombs).
This is the layout I had when my defense failed. As you can see, that mortar is too close to the xbow and some of the hogs jumped into the core. I have changed it now bu rotating the defenses (using the TH10 core version) and now the are 1 tile more apart. Hopefully it will work.

Firstly, many thanks to Mavios for his time and effort in designing these bases. You have skill, time and patience which I do not have to design unique bases for others to use.
i wanted to give a little feedback after a recent push to Master 2.
To put this in context, I have maxed splash and maxed x-bows, the rest of my base needs upgrading and I had one Tesla upgrading during the push.
During the push I had the following result from 11 Hog attacks:
2 Wins
5 losses with 1 Star
1 loss with 2 Star
3 losses with 3 Star
Though I would discount one of the 3 star losses as it came directly after a win before I could reset the traps and re-fill the cc.
Overall not bad, but as I suspect as I pushed to a decent level I came up against pro-hoggers which as a TH9 is always going to be a problem!
Overall a decent set of results, so again thank you chap for these bases!

thanks for your feedback. Can I ask what was the main problem with the hogs. if you remember or if you still can watch replays.
In my case, it was the mortar on the bottom left side and the xbow on that side being too close so some hogs jumped from the mortar into the core.
I countered that by using the TH10 core layout posted in this thread. It is easy to use, you basically rotate the building around (think of the IT as the other two teslas).
After that tweaking i had 2 hog wins out of 2 (but im at a lower league now, C2).

I'm currently taking this base to master and everything works great.
I think you have to max the core to have great results (maxed xbows and teslas). As far as I'm concerned, my only losses to hogs were during my teslas upgrades..
I have maxed splash, maxed teslas and maxed xbows. Rest is TH8 maxed level. It was not because of that.
As I said, there is a flaw on the bottom left part where mortar is close to xbow. When hogs bunch together around the mortar, the ones on the xbow side have xbow as the closer target so they jump there.
I changed the position of the building in the core, using the TH10 version, and it is working. won 2 other defenses.
Edit. If hogs jump to the core there is nothing your base can do, no matter how max your defenses are. One or two heal spells will neutralize all your firepower and once the core is cleaned, it is game over.
LOVE the farming base, may try it out...
Because you can push the tesla 1 tile back so it gets 1 tile further from the mortar than the xbow was. 1 tile can make the difference. Maybe 1-2 hogs can still jump in (happened in my case) but that wont be enough to take out your core.
and the farming version is great for DE protection. Just got attacked by mass giants with 2 healers, some wizes and one drag. Got only 59%, 3 storages and did not touch the DE at all.

Sadly I have no useful replay to review. What I recall is that the double giant bombs (which I have at all lvl 3) didn't blow up together always and the attacker through a Heal Spell on top, so the hogs survived. The attacks came from both north and South, but I didn't notice a specific issue with the southern Mortar, but I will adjust as you have suggested next time.
Just got attacked by hogs again. They managed to get 70% but not the core, which is acceptable I would say (not easy to defend against hogs as TH9).
The giant bombs is a bit of "flip the coin thing). In two attacks (that I won) no spell used where i had the giant bombs, so hogs were dead. In the one I just mentioned above, the attacker threw a heal spell right where the bombs were even before hogs got there so they survived.
OK, gonna try that :)
My biggest problem is balloonions right now, I'm one level to my the AD for TH9, meaning it's pretty weak actually.
It will be better for the next push, and hopefully soon enough when I will hit TH10 with those ♥♥♥♥ing overpowered IT :D

The base should work in the same way against balloons (considering that loons, like hogs, go for defenses). I had a defense where loons did exactly that, going around the base avoiding the core. I lost at 53% because of minions and I had xbows pointing down. Since then I have them pointing up. My AD and AT are still TH8 level.
I am farming now, so I have put TH outside, switched DE in the center where TH was, and added a mortar in the core. You can do the same if farming, or if hunting and you can take DE out of the core and add a defense there (mortar or AD, your choice).
Here is my defense log since I switched to farming mode (around 2300 cups range): Since TH is outside i will put the data in % and if DE lost (as DE has now the spot of the TH)
1. 10 giants, 10 WB, 90 barch, 47 minions, 5 spells: 42%. Lost DE
2. 27 hogs, 35 archers, 2 PEKKAS, 5 spells: 41%, no DE lost
3. 21 hogs, 2 healers, 10 wizes, 40 barch and goblins, 4 spells: 37%; No DE lost
4. 17 loons, 20 minions, 4 giants (weird combo), 27%. No DE lost
5. 22 hogs, 4 giants, 20 barch, 9 wizes, 3 spells: 38%, no DE lost.
6. 18 giants, 62 archers, 11 WB, 3 wizes, 24 gobs, 2 healers, 6 minons, 1 drag, 5 spells: 59%, no DE lost.
7. 32 hogs, 37 archers, 12 wizes, 4 spells: 77%, no DE lost.
8. 80 barch, 1 pekka, 9 giants, 9 wb, 1 healer, 2 drags, 5 spells: 41%, no DE lost.
Adding more defenses:
9. 20 giants, 1 lvl4 healer, 72 arch, 10 wb, 19 min, 21 gobs; 2 spells - 48%
10. 12 giants, 6 wb, 2 lvl4 healers, 55 archer, 14 hogs, 5 wizes, lvl 8 heroes, 2 spells - 50%
11. 89 arch, 124 gobs, 5 wizes, 11 wb, 1 spell - 38%
12. WORST DEFEAT: 2 lvl3 golems, 4 lvl4 Pekkas, 15 arch, 5 wizes, 13 hogs, 5 WB, lvl15 heroes, 5 spells. 93%.
13. 11 giants, 65 arch, 5 wb, 2 lvl4 healers, 5 wzes, 1 drag, 28 gobs, lvl15 BK. - 37%
14. 36 loonw, 66 archers, 1 drag, lvl10 BK, 5 spells - 56 %. No DE lost
15. 16 giants, 7 WB, 2 lvl4 healers, 2o minions, 28 barbs, heroes, 3 spells (F**** used them to zap my DE) - 46% (I won and my TH was outside lol). I did not have CC for this one.
16. 41 hogs, 40 archers, hereos, 1 spell (he did not have time to use all spells) - 28%. A win even with TH outside.
During this time I am constantly upgrading 1 tesla and 2-3 AD.
So, if we consider De as the TH and looking at % lost, Out of 8 attacks of different types,
2 1" losses and 6 wins. Pretty well if you ask me.
To point out also that, even though I am in C2 at the moment, most of those were revenges from Master players. Also I am upgrading 2-3 defenses during this time

Switching to trophy mode, got attacked last night by hogs. won at 42%. It was funny how the attacker dropped the heal spell towards the core thinking that hogs would jump there after taking the mortars, instead hogs going out again. this is what I like about this base, it does not look like antihog.
I had a good antihog-layout during my last push, but problem with that was that it was very evident it was anti-hog so it kept hoggers away, and then a looner would come and win.
Another tweaking i have made to the base is to push DE storage out of the core (if you dont have too much), put a mortar in its place, and put a WT in the mortars place. then make sure the two giant bombs are close to that WT. I just realized that two level3 giant bombs are not enough to kill maxed hogs, so you want that WT to add to that damage too.
Another (semi)win of my defense. Full hog attack and 5 spells. Managed to get 50% by picking the buildings on the outer layer but none of the storages.
Looks nice--will test it out once I push.

That log you posted...a hog attack got 82% on you. Sure, it was one star, and not much loot, but why was it 82, did the attacker run out of time? 82 is a bit too much, no matter the loot taken.

I've used this base for about 2 weeks... has done pretty good for me...
Jumped from 1800ish trophies to now 2394.
I am a townhall 9 lvl 105.
When they do beat me... its usually 1 star and rare taken any major resources. Its is a very good map... the real key to this base is where the inner d-buildings are just inside the first row of walls... keeps them going around the base... and the second part is the double bomb... if timed well it will keep them all (with the help of wz tower as well).
I think I am going to give this base a spin as well - can anyone tell me how it does vs. Balloons?
the only part i dislike are the defences on the outside :( i like the rest of the base though
I have been around 1600-1700 trophies where I thought air raids wouldn't occur often, so I was like, why not switch to this base? I am currently using the trophy version, and it does a GREAT job against hogs. However, I have been attacked twice by balloonians already and one got a 3 star and the other one got 81%. Currently, I am only upgrading one xbow, telsa, and an Archer tower. Am I doing something wrong?
an experience hogger got 100% on this base,,, he attacked me.. south side with 2 touch deploy on both wizrd tower (south... some hogs went thier way to left and right but 12 hogs went to bottom ad... and directly go to the center the rest is history,,, huhuhu my tesla is level5 only... bt then he his hog5.... this is the first time he got 100%.... nice base though....
The one thing I really like about this base is it that is doesn't scream anti-hog base.
That being said, hr do end up spilling into the core... especially if the hr are deployed correctly.
