Presenting The Spider [TH7]

After a few weeks of testing, the spider is now open to the public! This base is famous for trapping it's enemies in and never letting them see the light again, just like a spider would! I have tested this base for a few weeks, and only 2 attackers have ever gotten into the core where the gold is! Now lets take a look and see what it looks like!

As you can see all the splash defenses are in a triangular position shown in this picture below:

This base works primarily on the funneling and the luring of the testlas, due to this, this base will now work if you don't have two testlas

The clan castle, the main defense for all clash of clans bases, is in the middle and is only lurable if the attacker is doing an all out attack.

The cannons are in a pentagon and the archer towers are in a square shape shown here:

The air defenses are in a prime position guaranteed to protect your base from a giant-healer strategy, that is if the attacker has enough giants left after the spring traps to call it a giant healer strategy!

Q:Where did you get the inspiration to build this base?
A: I just got bored one day and I wanted to prove OJM wrong, in his how to build a vault post, yes this is a vault, he said:

Very nice looking design, good splash balance and air defense placement

Bad junctions and your mortars can easily be lightninged. Plus it isn't really a vault because not all of the important. Stuff is together

Reminds me a lot of my town hall 8 base. Strong from the bottom, weaker from the top. Not sure how to fix it, so great base!

I thought called the beetle?

lightning spells could take out those two mortars. But overall it looks strong

I agree its not really a vault... Better change that before people get mad... But I haven't got my mortars lightninged yet.

Yes, you probably could, but its a TH7 base, you cant really prevent a TH9 or 10 getting all the gold in it.

Not a lot of people attack from the top, I think they all go for the DE on the bottom, the attacker usually can get 250 if they get it all

I'm a TH 8. I think if you moved one of the gold storages and switched it to a lower part so they were separate it would be better.

Ya looks like a great base! Good use of all the defenses. With the two mortars right next too each other is there a way you could seperate them like i did in my old th 7 base? Hopefully the pic I will include shows up. :)

couple lightning on bottom mortars, normal farming army would easy get the gold

The way you described this base makes it seem really good I wish I tried it out when in was th7

Nope. 2 lightings placed there would take out two mortars, leaving no splash towers on the bottom half of your base.

I know that you have design the funnelling so the giants go for the tesla, but they would target the cannon there anyway, so I suggest swapping the exposed teslas to where you have those two builders huts on the sides. As well as being better protected, they would protect the gold.

The DE is bait to do a mass giant then the giants get springed out of the map. The base is a vault; well sort of so the gold is now that far apart.

Although this is a good design and I am actually thinking about moving to this design, I can't really agree with the statement that this is a new design. This design, especially the core, has been around for a while, and actually a number of people in my clan use this design.

Very nice set-up. I wouldn't have attacked you when I saw TH7 or 8.

TH9 now and could roll you, but your set-up would make me think twice about it.

Like what some have already mentioned, the mortars are in a lightning-vulnerable position although they're not exactly side by side.

Honestly it's a good start but there's a few things I would change. Your teslas pump out 48 dps each and I understand you're trying to create a funnel but your teslas are currently protecting nothing, and are incredibly exposed. Swap with builder hits. Having the cannons opened would funnel nearby giants even without the teslas.

you say the CC is unlurable, but dropping a single barb on the gold mines up too would lure them. It's a compact base with no wasted space which makes it very hard to have an unlurable CC. But the CC is centered so that's good.

as everyone else has said, the mortars can easily be taken out leaving the base vulnerable.

with both gold storages up top it can make the north side look appealing to attack, that coupled with lightening on the south mortars and wall breakers letting giants in (blind spot on third mortar would render it useless on giants) makes the northern half of your base extremely vulnerable.


overall the design is OK. Might do well in your trophy range. Keep on designing, it apears you have potential.

I don't think you can completely destroy both of your mortars because lightning spells don't have that big of a radius and the are diagnal not side by side

I agree with mortar and tesla statements. Teslas don't help and are exposed,switch with builder huts. Extend the dead zone where troops cant spawn by pushing gold mines and outside buildings outwards. Helps with CC because it will be even harder to lure.

Are your defensive wins primarily within the 1400 trophy range? Curious how this would fare in Crystal.

No TH7 will do well in Crystal, even a TH8 should beat them, it's all a matter of 1, 2 or 3 stars.

Hey would just like to say that this is a great base, I've been using it for a week now and hardly anyone has attacked, probably because of how intimidating it is :P. Although those that have attacked have only got a combined total of around 50k gold! So I would recommend this to all TH7 farmers. Thanks for the base design

hey what did you do when you transitioned to th 8? Did you keep this for a while as you built up ur new defenses or do you have a new design?

Don't put the 2 mortars together.

So, untill now I've been attacked for 5 times. The first two attacks are shown above in this page, and these are the next three:

Just to mention I had atleast 200k gold/elixir in those attacks.
