The Misconception About TH10 and Farming

It seems to me that there is a pretty decent misconception about TH10s and their inability to farm, so I thought I would branch out into another thread. Case in point, just today:

It may be difficult for premies with sub-level 5-6 troops to farm, but life as a TH10 is really not too shabby. In fact, it is quite the contrary! Remember that while upgrades are more expensive, they are also quite long!!!

Gold With 4, say, builders properly scattered and upgrades of 12-14 days costing 7mill+, it means having to get 7mill every 3 days. If a builder is on heroes all the time, then its 7 mill every 4 days. Is 1.75 mill gold a day doable? Any left over goes to wall. Sure you don't see the luscious, sumptuous, and tasty 400/400 much, but 250Kg+ is really not hard to find at right trophy range.

Elixir Elixir is honestly never a problem. Sure, there's the occasional 8mill research upgrade, but I actually relish it because we are usually oozing out elixir. So much so that we try to find ways to spend it (all wizard raids for fun).

DE Perhaps a tad more of an issue to keep up with the research/heroes, but if you tilt to hit bases with more DE and less gold a few times, its not a big deal.

Below is the result of my last day or so. I was feeling like some looning, as I got 6.5/6.0 and 1.5 days til builder. Tomorrow, maybe some GoWiPes to burn some elixir. Do the math on the gold, maybe 30 skips on average, a few spells. Honestly... farming at TH10 is pretty straightforward.

Important Key

• Craft Your Raiding Skillzz!! By the time you get to TH10, you need to know the game well. I'm nowhere close to a great raider, but I pay close attention to replays. I've read some great guides in forum. And I know exactly how much gold is in storage vs. mines with one archer pluck. (See guide links below)
• Skip!!! "Penny wise, Pound foolish." Its a sunk cost once you've skipped. Don't count. Just skip.
• Time your builders! Not even the best raider in the world can feed two builders 14 mill if they both come off the line at the same time.
• Keep TH way out!! Confucius said: "He who keeps townhall out loses far less resources than he who doesn't!". I think Euler proved the theorem a few hundred years ago.

Summary
There is no question that being a premie TH would stink. But with top troops, smart raiding, and a half-decent layout, farming enough to keep builders busy at TH10 is actually borderline easy/boring. I hope this helps.

didnt read the whole thread, stopped to respond when you said elixr isnt a problem.

The problem about th10 is you have to prioritise a resource since the bases are much tougher to crack, meaning farming resources takes 2x longer. When looking for gold I would find the 200k hauls but no elixr, so when i end up needing elixr for the expensive upgrades i do not make much gold as i would have to prioritise the large elixr hauls.... there are not many easy 3stars of th8 for 200/200 with cheap armies...

this is the problem.

Lol at people who say th10 has no loot. I use giant healer strategy and maul over bases. If u can't atleast 180k gold and 180k elixir per raid then u need to tuck ur head between ur pillows and shoot urself.

You shouldn't have problems with elixir. Except for the camp upgrades at the beginning of TH 10, elixir is a forgotten resource. I haven't raided a base specifically for elixir in weeks, yet I still find myself sitting my full elixir storages outside as bait. Sure, I have to spend a few million when the lab comes free, but I still can't spend it faster than I take it in.

TH 10 farming at higher levels is best suited for casual player, log in-raid-log out style. Those hardcore farmers who are willing to spend more time online still are better with TH9 raiding every 30 min or so

Th10 farming is defiantly possible but those raids you did wet all with ballooning, which isn't the fastest army.

I think that taking a more balanced approach, instead of raiding for need, would perhaps help you tremendously. It's like draft day for NFL teams. Do you draft the best player on the board, or draft for need? Take the best on the board or you will be missing out on a ton of talent.

PS - In nowhere shape or form did I do these raids thinking I would post them. Its just another day. Did you notice the gold/elix amounts? I aint gonna add them up, but I'd say they are pretty close to 50/50 in total.

the lab upgrades are 8mil for the ones you need, and the camps are 6.75 each.... its tough to make that kind of elixr when you spend 70k on the army and gain 200k, without getting any gold either! especially when you arent very active and gold is constantly something needed.

Often enough i would go looking for elixr and find a nice 200k gold to haul so would foget about it, then it would be even harder to farm the elixr back and make god profit!

Juz a quick question, how many skips do u need to make to find a base worth attacking? At ur trophy lvl, theres must be quite a number of th8 not worth attcking, unless abandoned and with full resources in mines and pumps. If u do count each skips u made, at 1000 gold each, let say u make 30 skips, thats 30000 golds down the drains. Together with spells used which cost a minimum of 40000, thats 70k gone. League bonus gives u some return, but overall the gross profit in gold is like 150k (Its not like everyday u will come across an abandoned base with full resources). Th9 and below could make tht amount and more in 20 mins or less!

So, thats the general life up in th10. I see lots of very poor th10 up in crystal2 and 1. One problem i see in th10 is the gold down the drain looking for bases to attack. It adds up pretty quickly. Juz my observation.

As much as we would like to, we cant get everything all at the same time. It takes a while to get the camps up. I planned for DE upgrades when i knew i needed elixir, and elixir upgrades when i knew i needed DE.

I upgraded to TH10 14 days ago. Defenses were all maxed, walls lv9, King/Queen lvl 16.

I sit between 1650-1800 cups. Currently using barbs/archers, 8-12 wb's and some minions.

I've been forced to gem builder time from the get go because I max my storages in 1.5 to 2 days.

Most of my raids are collector raids. I don't use spells, unless we're talking about a 300k+ base and I feel the need to use a rage.

If I see a 130k collector raid with an exposed TH, I take it and move on.

If I see a base with 250k gold and 450k elixir, I take the gold and don't waste troops on the elixir.

I have 3 xbows upgrading at the moment (2 of them to lvl4 and 1 to lvl3). Both my infernos are already lvl2. All 4 camps done. Lab finishes in 3 days and my elixir is already maxed to start my wizzies.

TH10 farming isn't the same as TH9, that's for sure. But my builders can't keep up with the gold I loot.

the way I understand it, th10 farming for hardcore farmers is harder, as in there no more 100-200k collector raids within 20 searches. your attacks were all at 2000+,which is probably ideal for th10. yet,ud need to use a solid army with a rather long build time to win. ideal for sofcore farmers, unacceptable for the crazies(hardcorers). and as for this guy:

Solution, don't 'crack' them.

Everyone is complaining about the loot, but walls should have been done at townhall 9. There shouldnt be much need to be hardcore farming gold for walls, and without that giant gold sink, you should easily be making enough for defense upgrades

If a lvl 1 inferno tower takes 7 days to build & lvl 2 upgrade takes an additional 10 days, how do you have both IT's at lvl 2 already?

Im th10 and farming with archers, barbs, gobs and wb. No heros as the are upgrading and im looking forward to level 6 gobs lol.

Im sat between 2100 and 2200 and raid every 20/30 mins.

Nice, nice. I think most people need to be aware that the whole loot penalty thing is over-exaggerated. I never had heard of the 'struggles of the town hall 10' till I got on these forums and saw all these complaints. Abandoned bases are abandoned bases. If one searches hard enough, they're gonna get rewarded with lots of loot. Just have to find the trophy sweet spot.

As a town hall 9 player, I have no idea what it's really like to go after loot with town hall 10. Thanks for the posts. It's a nice reality check. :)

There is never low loot at higher th(8,9,10). The loot problem people faces only when they moved up to next th without fully upgrading the previous one. They either have low defences or low troops levels. This is why they cant maintain their trophies at or near crystal 3. They are forced to go down in trophies and as a result the get low loot and always complain of low loot at th10. DONT FEAR FROM LOOT PENALTY ITS A MISCONCEPTION, ALWAYS MOVE ON TO THE NEXT TH ONLY AFTER U HAVE FULLY UPGRADED THE LAST ONE(walls included) and if u cant upgrade walls then either u have the curse of 5th builders or else u are a bad planner.

Interesting thread, judging from the forums I've always had the impression that loot is tough to come by for TH 10's. I wonder how the other TH 10 farmers feel about your thread. So far there aren't that many TH 10'ers arguing against you.

It's because he's totally right. TH 10 at high crystal/low masters allows to farm 3 mil gold and 15-20000 DE per day, with total in-game time less than two hours. Perfect for casual player.

with the layout OP gives its like 6 times more difficult. See his battle durations. 1 battle in every 1 or 2 hour and raiding 300-400k gold is not called farming. A real farmer will get 1 or 2 mil gold in every hour.

TH10 isn't exactly bad, but 1M Coins an hour would be a good run. Not sure what you're doing if you think 2M coins an hr is doable with TH10 but please share. Coffee :)

2 million gold an hour for a TH 10 is a bit ambitious. I'm interested in Tavya's tactics as well. Probably over exaggerated but he didn't think too much about it. I do wonder how probable it is for a TH 10 to farm 1 million an hour though.

That really depends in how and where farmers farm, there are so many ways to do it and not everyone use the minimal cost when farming. It is very much possible to get up to 2 million in gold per hour, but that is also including a bit of luck.

This is another reason why th10s complain about loot, farming 2mil gold an hour is not possible anymore. Quick fast bam collector raids, dont work. You need to train a good strong army and attack bases every 20-30 minutes.

Thats my opinion at least, summed up from information from all the various rage threads (im only th8 now, but i have farmed 160000000mil so i know what im talking about here. Eh

If a TH 7 said that I would kinda agree, MAYBE even a TH 8 but I would still find it hard to believe. TH 10 is not plausible no matter what tactic one decides to use. My opinion is based solely on me being able to farm 1 million gold per hour on a lucky day so I can only imagine what it would be like for a town hall 10. Plus if they're farming in the Crystal/Masters league I'm assuming they're using spells which isn't very profitable.

How can anyone raid 2mil an hour? I can only get in 2 raids per hour and I get 200-300k from them. Unless you mean people that gems their troops

I can usually get anywhere from 4 to 8 raids per hour using a BAGM army. Just fill your barracks up with troops and let them pump out. Sometimes I can get 1 mill during that hour but mostly I get anywhere from 600-800k gold.

Why everyone talking about loot per hour? Doesn't loot per day makes a more convinient and comparable measure?

That's why I ask. Consider two players, one raiding every 10 minutes for 3 consecutive hours a day, making 1 million per hour. The second raids every hour, for the total of 15 raids a day, making 200000 per raid. From loot per hour standpoint the first is 5 times more efficient, but at the end of the day both farm exactly the same amount.

As I said, it is based on luck. I'm talking about town hall 10, it is possible if trophies were taken out of the equation.

Both of them get sick and can now play 15 hours a day. Person 1 has higher G/H and makes more. All about efficiency.

You don't seem to understand. What in the world am I going to do with 1-2 mill gold every hour? I need 8 mill every 3 days. PERIOD. The end of upgrades is nearing. It is still months away, but the day where all I will get to do is walls, save for new levels in updates, is upon me soon.

I'd like to thank Itoslemma for a great thread - you easily get all the resources you need, and that's all that needs to be said.

As a near-maxed TH8, I was quite worried about going to TH9 and grinding out 5M+ upgrades... let alone TH10 - unthinkable!

As a relatively new TH9, I have already got all the camps up, two key troops maxed out, and upgraded a mortar and now an xbow before all my new defenses are caught up, simply to help burn excess gold that keep piling up (and the elixer is piling up faster than I can max out my DE drills). So I'm not worried at all, and can certainly see that as someone who only raids a few hours a day at most, I can easily keep my builders going and the base upgrading.

If I ever do go to TH10, I expect I'll see the same as Itoslemma - with a little thought and planning, it shouldn't be too hard to get all the resources I need...
