I disagree with Powerbang

Kind of a little late but this is my review of Powerbang’s video on his clan getting caught cheating.

I disagree with the fact that the clan should go off free and not be punished. The reason why is this harsh punishment promotes less use of mods, and the likelihood of using them. Plus his clan was technically cheating and not winning wars the fair way, even if it is just one player. Clans are like teams. You win as a clan, you grow as a clan, and you lose as a clan. It only takes one to ruin the expirence. I have heard teachers say this before and other adults. I agree with Supercell and sorry your clan got banned Powerbang. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you agree or disagree with Powerbang?

"He" said that they won some of the CWL WARS because of the modders' attacks, so he agreed with forfeiting those wins. I think that is a pretty big "mea culpa". As to the entire clan getting a ban, I think it is harsh, but necessary. I'm sure that someone knew that modding was going on.

On the more general subject of it - you live by the sword you die by the sword. Every modder and his pet dog know they run a risk with their actions. Every leader of a clan knows the risk of allowing it within their clan.

Those that are accidentally caught up in this mess and receive a 14 day ban... well for the greater good, it is a small price to pay. I'd take a 14 day ban if it was to help rid this game of those that choose to try and manipulate it.

You know when ppl are modding if you don't know to spot it , I don't know what to tell you. Sounds like excuses to me and I praise supercell for not making anyone above the rules

I had not watched the video yet but I really think that it is unfair that the whole clan had to be punished. I do agree with the Grow, Win, Loose as a clan but when it comes to banned altogether I beg to differ. The clan members have no real way of knowing that someone in the clan is hacking. It seems a bit rash to ban the whole clan. In my personal opinion I think it would be fair to ban the player that hacked along with the person who invited/accepted him into the clan.

Yea, someone in the clan modded. To get views and money, they had to post 3 star win videoes. Don't try to tell me the people in charge of the clan didn't know modding was going on. They knew. They got caught I don't buy the b.s. apology.

I believe supercell said it would start banning entire clans if anybody modded. That they actually carried through with the threat is great. And I like watching that YouTuber btw. It's not personal, it's principle.

I think a 14 day break from wars is a small price to pay for benefiting from cheating against another clan, whether you know about it or not (and in the case of the player noted in OPs post, I think it is very unlikely that he knew about it, just way too much to risk for him). I think it is a fine penalty for a first offense. I also think SC should note the clan history of every account that has ever been banned for modding then run a report on every clan to see how many modding accounts have been in each clan. Then delete the clans with the very high amounts, SC could figure out what the big outliers are that need deletion. No war log, no clan perks, start over without cheating.

Another thing I was always curious about is the dev builds and the ability to use them to build bases for practice.

I'm the kinda guy not into YouTubers, The fact is if and often when supercell releases the kraken cheaters will be caught it's that simple.
As for managing clans well we all know only trust people you meet or are in contact in real life, preventive measures are the best way to manage almost anything.

Powerbang posted the video publicly himself. It is perfectly acceptable to comment on a video made by a player and posted publicly.

i cannot speak for PB
but...today most hard core war clans know and recognize when the modding is going on
they surely recognize when the opposite clan is using tools
so they also can notice the suspicious activity in their own clan
14 days off wars is a little price to pay compared to the shame and public disapproval

It depend, some clan may be able to detect, because their high lvl member leave clan and join lvl1 clan with their th3 friends

But u can do it totally using different max th11 account that is unrelated to the main clan, and NEVER in the main clan, this max th11 is totally undetected by the main clan, and can help their little TH3 play around in their clan. So how can main clan leader detect this kind of behavior?

Sorry, ‘tooled’ attacks vs ‘lucky’/planned attacks are clearly visible to all. No secret wisdom there.
If there was mod used, every player, that has experienced it, knows how the result looks like.
It does not matter how it is achieved (you do not need to be in any sense related to the clans in war).

About a th9 is using it, this still baffles me.

Back to the facts: cheating is not ‘fairplay’, a clan advertising it has to enforce it.
The whole clan benefitted, the whole clan gets the punishment.

in this case even the octopus and sc cannot relate the account which is not in the clan and not in war to the main clan
if the clan was banned, there must be someone inside

The octopus cannot, it detects TPA in use (assuming this is only what it does) and can have done it over time, not in one instance; cross referencing (IP, device, account sharing,...) will detect the rest. Insider will make things easier, for sure.

Realistically is there anything you can do to 100% protect your clan from getting banned? The last thing you want is to start a witch hunt and suspect each 3 star attacker as modders. Short of getting clear indication from SC on who are cheating, I don't think any warring clan is 100% safe from this. I have heard stories of a clan getting the 14 days ban when the culprit was possibly one of the worse attackers in the clan. How can the leaders of the clan prevent that?

Fair and Square. SuperCell have got this 100% right. 14 days ban is a right measure because they must be pretty intense 14 days in the life of the clan! Although I feel sorry for those who are getting caught with friendly fire, the situation would be a lot worse without those actions.

This explains PB's stats of TH10 v TH10 30% 3 star rate.

It's very unfortunate that innocent members need to pay the price for 1 person and there is really no way for a clan to detect a potential cheater. As Powerbang said it himself, their cheater used to do FCs all the time, have multiple accounts, and was good at live attacks.

This is the result of SC not being able to do their anti-cheating job effectively. Yea, the moderators will always tell you that you can report them to Customer Service, blah blah... *closes thread*. That's all they can do. I wonder why they couldn't catch anyone from infamous hacking clans like ITD, EE, ROW. For your information, A MEMBER FROM EE HAD A POST ON HIS TWITTER ADMITTING THAT HE MODS. SC is doing a very poor job at catching hackers because the Mafia clans get away with all their modding while we see 1 hacker in CWL clan get his clan a 14day ban.

Where can we find the full story of this situation? It's hard to determine whether PBs plea to not guilty is sufficient in form or not.

If you have a better way, feel free to suggest. I'm sure many of us would like to know a foolproof way of efficiently detecting mods. Maybe even do a sample of code that you think would run in a system to detect modders efficiently and ban them. Because saying "oh sc is getting paid so much it's their job to solve it" doesn't change the fact that there are no un-hackable systems in the world.

Sc should ban 50 players at a time for failing to enforce supercell's rules on a member they may not have known was cheating? How about supercell enforce their own rules instead of making it the responsibility of their customers?

Rather than ban all members in the clan war, I'd rather they ban the clan itself from war for 60 days. Those in the clan who didn't cheat wouldn't get banned from war and could go war somewhere else. Leaders that don't exercise due diligence will thus see their clan progression hampered, and would lose their honest members to other clans.

I don't need to be a professional soccer player to criticize a bad performing pro soccer player. Even though I may not know the intricate details of exploiting vs patching process,I do know from my past experience of playing other online gamas/app games is that SC does really BAD job of patching exploits. They act like they just want to create more events and surprises in order to do their money grab before this ship called "clash of clan" sinks.

I said war participants who clearly had to know and clan management because it's their duty to prevent such a thing- how come in my clan we never had a single modder or cheater? Because we won't let just anybody join us. And with all due respect banning clan for 60 days is not punishment big enough for someone else's ruined experience of the game.

That's just a big assumption. That's like saying "CIA must've known that one of their agent was a double spy working for KGB because they are CIA".
Ok, let's say they knew about it. Then they must've told him to make sure he NEVER GETS CAUGHT and you better be more ban-proof than any of those hackers out there because their reputation as CWL is on the chopping block. but in the end, that guy was dumb enough to get caught when nobody from all those infamous hacking clan is banned. Are you going to tell me, the best CWL "FAIR PLAY" clan couldn'tt even get 1 proper hacker to hide his tails properly while nobody from "WE HACK OPENLY" clans got banned? Wow, something just doesn't add up. I am going to say, they didn't know about it and that hacker guy got greedy wanting to perform better, acted out on his own with shallow knowledge of hiding his footsteps, ended up getting caught.

BTW, most of Powerbang's vids are th9 and th10s and their raids do not need mods to perform 3-star wonders. They are very do-able attacks unlike ridiculous attacks from Golden Goblin or some other hacking clans. So, if I were Powerbang, I wouldn't risk the whole clan just to add few more 3 star vids. They were doing them already.

If you were doing friendly challenges in my clan all the time, I would consider it weird. If Supercell focuses there efforts more on the scans, that means less development on the new content and updates which leads to poorly made updates and people leaving the game. I would rather they countinue what they are currently doing instead of monetering who cheats and who dosen’t all the time.

Could you explain to me why doing alot of FCs make the person, suspicious? Is that like "if someone talks about homosexuals oftenly, they may be one", kind of a thing? But you know what, that doesn't even matter because you may think that's weird but Powerbang didn't think that was "weird", but rather took it as a sign that he is legit.

Answering your second statement.
Hey, that's what all the other big games do. They have to be able to deal with patching exploits and also create new contents. Failing to do one thing just because need to do another isn't a good excuse for a game that had been up in Top 10 charts for multiple years straight. They made ALOT of money but seems like they aren't investing much on anti-cheat.

I think it's great that supercell is handing out bigger punishments to everyone involved in cheating. Clearly Powerbang, WHF, and the CWL need to be put under a microscope for the octopus. There have been a lot of times all of them have been caught cheating. CWL = Cheater's War League

Powerbang called for weekly scans for cheating. I think they just have to scan the CWL for cheating and call it good.

If anyone has a better way for clan leaders to prevent this from happening to their clans, please suggest. As far as I am aware of, there is no foolproof way to prevent it. Just because this didn't happen to your clan doesn't mean you have a better clan management than someone else. Powerbang is a high profile figure who has nothing to gain to jeopardize his relationship with SC. High profile war clans in CWL have a much higher risk to have closet modders in their clans than most casual war clans. Darian and SC has already warned against guilty by association. I don't think it's fair for some of you to automatically cast judgment against Powerbang. In fact, let this be a lesson learned that this could happen to any clan out there. There is no favoritism at play here.

Totally agree. well said.

How does everyone feel about the clan being stripped of their Clan War Perks also.

Theres some honest (low level) clans out there struggling to get the higher perks grinding away. meanwhile you have clans with members like powerbangs clan running multiple accounts with 3rd party apps in use, gliding thru the perks.

Powerbang should have been banned ages ago anyway for all of his crying for nerfs. He and Galadon have greatly contributed to Killing the fun in CoC with all their this and that is OP nonsense.

Ok, relax. I’m just kidding (about banning them, not about them killing the fun in the game).

But I think a 2 week war ban when one of your members is cheating is fair.

It’s not overly harsh but makes you at least consider looking at your clan mates who have unusual attacks.

I will say it’s MUCH easier to spot the modders in an all th11 clan. With defenses being so ridiculously OP anyone 3*ing max th11s with regularity is definitely suspect.

Just listened to the full 12:20 of power bangs video. I agree with him on a few points, disagree with him on others.

i highly doubt powerbang himself knew about the cheating, considering how infrequently he wars, how often SC has him traveling, how often he's shooting/editing/etc. videos, he probably doesn't even actively play enough to watch replays that aren't being featured in his channel. So I can agree that he more likely than not didn't know what was happening.

i also completely agree with him that SC needs to unleash the octopus weekly. @Darian on this point. You always say if scans happen too often the mouse will evolve and the trap won't work. Then build another trap! If cheats start getting their maxed accounts banned permanently, and the band are handed out weekly, then people will stop trying to mod. I don't want to hear more excuses about this, SC needs to end it.

i completely disagree with PB about clan wide CW bans. Experienced war players can spot little niches in the game play of cheaters. You may not be able to spot every dirty attack, but you can pick up on illegitimate attacks over a long enough timeline. Clan wide bans greatly increase the incintive of keeping clan mates legitimate. This also lowers the reward for modders. As people get banned and they build reputations eventually clans won't want them. Sure they'll find a home somewhere, but not where they want. Keep the bans clan wide I say.

Octopus may catch an account outside the clan, but accidentally the account may be in the same device (not at the device with the mod) with other account in the clan

Yes there is a better way - instantly deal with any suspicious activity and don't overlook it. And quite on the contrary - especially because this never happened in my clan means that we have better clan management than those in which this happened, without exaggerating. Think about it - we don't search for clannies on global, don't invite engineers, check the new people on COS, check people's achievements, base design, friend in need, war participation, and there's a small survey upon arrival. If anything seems out of place, that's it, you're free to continue your search for clans.

As for PB, I agree with that, but he's still a player like anyone else, and just like it's been pointed out already, you'd have to be very fresh to this game to not be able to see cheating right under your nose. PB is definitely not new clasher nor unskilled in this game, thus should face consequences for letting this happen.

@Small, I know that even your clan see 3 stars once in a blue moon. Are you suggesting they are modders? Not every modder is skilled enough to 3 star. It's the same concept as not everyone can 3 star in FCs no matter how many times they tried. Just because there are no 3 stars doesn't automatically mean there are no cheaters.

Let's be realistic here, I doubt anyone is going to respond to a 3 star attack by kicking them off the clan. You may suspect something, but unless you have full proof like SC did, are you really going to pull the trigger? Just based on suspicion alone? It will be hard to convince rest of the clan while maintaining morale. Don't let clan leaders do SC's dirty work here.

May I ask what type of clan you run? There is a huge difference between a high profile CWL clan vs other casual war clan. Modders are more likely to target a high profile clan than others.

I am not trying to put down your clan management here. But it's still doesn't convince me as 100% foolproof. In absent of a 100% foolproof method, what happened to Powerbang may very well happen to your clan. If same thing happened to any of us today, most of us would have reacted similar to Powerbang.

Just find it kinda sad to know there’s absolutely no way, with 100% certainty, that anyone can claim that any clan or league is 100% fairplay. SC is the only one with any real chance to even know. Do agree the rare scans should be more frequent, rather than timed to seemingly coincide with the playoffs in the most visible league around. Seems odd to throw high visibility clans under the bus if only one or two players are caught cheating...then the names of those actual offenders seem almost protected by some constitutional amendment. Hang ‘em high. Post those names along with ban wave announcements and point the finger where it belongs.

I also disagree with Powerbang, or anyone else who believes that a 14 day war suspension is extreme.

Nonsense, it's a slap on the wrist.

How many wars were won by cheating? How obvious were some of those attacks? Is this even the first time?

i think a 14 day ban for the clan is about right. Makes everybody in the clan who wars diligent that they don't want cheater in their clan. A good clan can weather a 14 day ban against warring. Everybody in the clan benefits from a cheater in war, so the whole clan should face punishment. I know it's a little barbaric to punish everybody, but in reality a 14 day ban is not the end of the world. It is enough of a penalty, however, to make people not want modders in their clan.

We run a family friendly clan where most of the people know each other for quite some time, even though it's only in the game. Many others have met on several occasions IRL too. Also even though we war quite often, it's mostly for fun not for competitive aspect of it. I'll give you that - since we only accept people from Slovakia and rarely Czech Republic, the chances are much smaller to be favored by modders. But, we do face modders in the war and it's always a turn down when at the start of the war two out of best 4 get three-starred by what seems an impossible attack to execute, especially considering that most of those bases get 1* or occasionally low percentage 2*.

Therefore I say that if modding appears, the punishment should be inflicted both on modders and clan management, just like in case of a dog that bit someone - it's your dog, you take responsibility too.

In that case why not allow cheating completely, since (with your logic) it's not ruining the game as long as it's subjective perception of objective reality.

Apparently, in their extreme arrogance and peculiar sense of accomplishment, they have been able to convince themselves that it's perfectly acceptable. It's not.

Hey, what if that modder was a legit player to begin with, but decided he should start modding? Then, they wouldn't have noticed anything suspicious. Why? because as far as I know, modding only lets you simulate attacks and that way you can reduce errors/patch up your pre-planned attacks. The mod doesn't let you jump multiple skill levels and create brand new strategies.
Besides, most modders are skilled players who probably don't need modding to do better than average players here.
I mean, If that guy had balls to join CWL as a modder, I can bet you that he also had legit skills to prove himself in FC attacks, and his specs would have passed all their specifications.

what are the facts (taking the emotion and opinions out)
1) supercell has known cheating was happening for a long time... for years ...
2) supercell finally did some banning last year ? correct my timing ... sorry if i am wrong ...
3) there is no fool proof way for a normal player and clan leader to know whether a particular player is cheating
4) the games global .. i dont even personally know any of my clan members in person ... how are we to find out if cheating is happening


queries and feedback from supercell requried :

a) how am i as a player supposed to know who is cheating ... can supercell trigger a clan message or something to let clan members know .. name and shame ? it is not fair for players toask new recruits to keep asking them whether they cheat etc if they keep three starring ... this way clans may fall apart ??

b). what are the repurcusssions for honest innocent players ... they will get temporary 14 days ban only ? or are there other more firmer consequences for example permanent ban if there are repeated offences from someone ele in clan after the first ban.... apologies if something has been released which i dont know of ... is it that honest innocent players' accounts are at risk because of cheaters who innocent players dont have knowledge of ?

c). why should honest law abiding citizens of game be punished for other players wrong doing - no matter what reason i am given i cant digest this fact ... is supercell saying that there is collusion involved ... i am all for fair play and fully undersand and appreciate the objective but the outcome of innocent players being impacted is not good in my opinion

I'm not a fan of powerbang, even before all of this stuff happened. I think someone who purports to be so savy about the game that he receives flights to SC HQ shouldn't be complaining about his 14 day war ban. However, handing out the same punishment for modder's clan mates as the modder himself is tremendously disproportionate.

I have no idea how to spot a modder, before all this I thought the way to spot them was that they left clan to practice in an empty clan with a th3 burner or something. As I understand it, that wasn't the case here. Supercell expecting clan leaders to police their game policies with the risk of a 14 day clan war suspension is already asking a lot. Perma banning them would be something else entirely.

Whoa. Alot of passive aggressiveness there. I have an engineered th11 but I attack th11s for consistent 2s and dip for 3s. Yea, common thinking is that engineers=lack skills because they "dip attack", all the time and they can't win without "cheating the system". Sorry, but I am that exception. It seems like your hate toward engineers and modders got the best of you.
About the modders being skilled or not, I'm pretty inclined to think that ITD will still wreck your clan with bunch of 2-3 stars without modding. I am not defending them, but whether you like it or not, it's a fact.

engineering is an option allowed by game and something supercell has considered and said it is legal? wasnt it the reason for making builder base progressive (i.e. cant upgrade bh without getting all buildings)

Nobody is Jailed except the Modder. Nobody is banned except the Modder. It is simply a war cool-down. It is actually pretty similar to punishments in Athletics for example where a relay team will lose their medals but only the cheat actually gets banned. I think it's a sensible middle way. I'm all for middle ways.

Not every one in global are modders, not all engineers are modders. ClashofStat (COS) only tells you what clans a person have been in and does not tell you if a person has a history of modding or whether or not those are modding clans. I see no correlation between people's achievements, base design, friend in need, war participation with that of modding. But since you did not give us any details on what to look for and what would look out of place perhaps you can elaborate more so that we can be absolutely sure that a person is modding.

Why is it that you are quick to condemn clan management as being guilty of this conspiracy where all you have is suspicion. Suspecting someone is easy, actually having evidence to prove your suspicion is what we need to agree that someone is knowingly involved. If that can be proven then I am all for banning those who help encourage this behavior even if they are not the ones modding. Absent of evidence, guilt by association does not make for good justice.

Doesn't happen in any other walk of life, and nor should it. Guilt by association is not a concept recognised by any civilised justice system.

And while you may believe you could always spot a closet modder, you have no way of knowing that, since you have never (as far as you know) had one in your clan.

Our clan has always only been open to people personally known (outside the game) to one or more existing members, but we still once managed to get a modder. This was before the days of the octopus, but we never spotted him until he started braggjng about it, and demonstrating how he could copy any of our bases in minutes. As soon as he did that, he was booted of course.

Supercell needs to stop passing the buck .. it’s their job to find out and address any unacceptable issues regarding their product .. their customers can provide constructive feedback nd help in the process but in no way should be held responsible for failing to detect any underhand procedures ..

The argument about Leadership knowledge is only really debatable with a good level of understanding if you are debating your own level wars in my view. Your average clan will have Co-leaders who have simply been around a long time and don't actually do much, if any, leading and organising. Some of the really serious war clans have a staggering level of organisation and a love for spreadsheets that has to be seen for the casual to really appreciate it. I have never war'd at that level (as any spectators of my attacks will testify) so I really don't know where the line of plausible deniability is set.

Other members of the relay team are not disallowed to participate in other events .. deduct clan xp based on the rank of the modder in the clan and the clans past history .. it’s way more sensible than implementing clan war cooldowns

Yes I agree. The average clan often time just want bodies that will be able to help them out in war. Only way a modder will be detected by the average clan is if a confession is made in the chats. I still do not know how differently a modder behaves as compared to a non-modding player.

i think initially it was introduce just cuz after 1st perma ban wave people started making th3s , bring them in there clan and easily mod the way the use to ... and yeah making a th3 is really easy you can rebuild CC just by those 500 gems given to you when you first start ...

so to prevent burner modding SC introduced whole clan 14 days ban .. and it's fine ... it was needed else SC could never fight against those burner account modding since they can't know whose account was it ...

now that we have burner clan+ burner account modding .. i am really waiting to see what changes they will make to fair play policy to prevent it too... or they won't and just improve there algorithm to find actual moddor and ban them ...

but yeah . 14 day war ban for hole clan was needed ... nothing injustice or wrong

Somebody in Powerbang's clan, Has Used Modded Applications as well as Multiple Accounts out side of the clan. So the Particular member got banned but all members of clan gets a 14 day Suspension from wars.

It is ludicrous. I haven't seen a TH10 triple another 10 in memory. Honestly, I can't remember. Oh I see a few since war at a decent level.

Will usually see 1-2 th10s out of 6-10 3 starred by 10s.
Which sounds a lot, enough to make his figure realistic.
But then delve deeper....it's usually the weakest 10s. Lv1 IT lv11-12 point defs, they probably do get 3d at as high as 30% rate.
Middling 10s less than that.

Max 10s tend to get tripled at 5-10% max, judging by a whole season of NDL constant 10v10 attempts.

I suppose that 30% could have been just about construed as genuine, under the circumstances, being as his first hand experience is CWL invite.

As in, th9s will have cleared 9s, then provided not only scouts on the 10s, but demo'd the th10s preferred attack comp/style/entry point.
Then if the th11s are dipping all the strongest/best designed 10s, just leaving the absolute best chances of 10v10s...then I suppose 30% success rate would be just about barely believable.

I don't buy into this Rephren to be honest. There are lots of prominent Youtubers across different language areas, who may have access to the ears of their respective Community Managers, but I doubt very much they influence the Dev team on a Macro level.
I remember Jake (OneHive) commenting on this openly in days gone by.

Plus PB's fully aware of the model that basically all SC games follow. You see this in Clash Royale, Brawl Stars etc. The pick up and play casual volume market is their bread and butter.

But IIRC CWL invite the TH10 3* rate overall is only actually 20%, not 30%. And, as you say, that's heavily qualified. So IF the bases have been scouted, AND you are only attacking the weakest targets, AND it's one of the strongest leagues in the world, AND counting attacks from some closet modders - then the rate is 20%. So just coming out and saying "the 3* rate at TH10 is 30%" is a complete farce. And very damaging if SC listen to the nonsense he spouts - which is unfortunately plausible as he visits them regularly.

Yeah finch, I should have put in a note "Max 10's" not weak 10s. Your version of him using all th10 hits is plausable.

Skrags, as Onyx says, and many others have chimed in over the last year, PB has the ear of SC. I'm sure he's a nice enough guy, but whether or not SC listen to him, can be judged by what he says in his video's and what SC do with the game.

PB says offence is fine. SC say offence is fine. Playerbase at large, disagree.

There is ZERO evidence that they were modding. There is evidence of other violation.

First, the video does not admit to modding. It indicates on player was attacking with other peoples accounts.

That player is suspended from his account for 14 days. If that player had been modding the ban would almost certainly be permanent.

Since there were no permanent bans that indicate the violation was something else and that something else was explained by Powerbang.

I did find the video a little hard to follow the first time I watched it but that MIGHT have been because of what I was reading on the forum.

I think people should actually listen to what he said. Stop going on what other people are saying.

It sounds like to me that they had a very good attacker and if they needed a clutch attack that player would get on other peoples accounts and do the attack for them. That is a violation and could be considered cheating but it is not as aggresses as modding. There is NO evidence that has been publically shared that they were modding. They did something not allowed but not as severe as modding.

I disagree with the fact that the clan should go off free and not be punished. The reason why is this harsh punishment promotes less use of mods, and the likelihood of using them. That's not how I took the video at all. PB talks at length about how they couldn't know the guy was cheating because he would get triples in FC - so his war performance wasn't radically unexpected. That doesn't make any sense if it was only an account sharing issue.

It's also worth pointing out that from what he says it sounds like the clan leadership had already known about the account sharing - so they had conspired to break the rules throughout the CWL season.

My question is how can a clan truly know when someone is cheating like this? The fact that cheating is so prevalent that supercell has to keep doing sweeps means that many are trying to do better at hiding it. So how would anyone know if a clan mate is cheating?

The fresh hit rate is 11%, and the cleanup hitrate is 23%. The huge disparity between the number of fresh hits and cleanup hits can explain this further.
But yeah, the 30% value is false either way.

Regardless of exactly what rules were broken, the fact is a very public figure with strong ties to SC is part of a clan that has been caught, twice. Now if they got caught twice you can be sure more exists that they got away with. Delete the clan already SC, it's a haven for those who mock your FP policy. The connection to SC makes it even worse. Granted these are not SC employees but a connection exists. I do feel bad for any innocents caught in the trap, but it seems either a few innocent get hammered or the whole community, seems a simple choice to me. Delete the clan SC, PLS.

They have said the bans come in waves, but that doesn’t mean they just ran the scan the day before and hadn’t run it at all since the last ban wave. They can scan and record cheaters regularly, but just not ban them more often than once every few months or whatever. It is the constant scanning AND banning that would make it too easy on the cheaters.

That's exactly what he said and if there were not perm bans it make sense.

Yeah, it does SEEM like they knew and thus the actions for suspending from war. That would make sense to me.

If he could get a lot of triples in FC just sounds like he's really good so others wanted him to attack for them. At least that makes sense ot me.

They did wrong but there is no indication it was modding. I keep seeing over and over and over that they mod.

you are in fact correct. SC has said the actual scans are frequent, the bans are not. I guess when I said scans I was meaning bans. I disagree with letting detected modders carry on playing the game, and ruining wars for months on end until a ban wave is sent out. Wether it makes it easier for mod designers to update their programs or not, SC needs to ban more frequently than they do. As new mod software is created SC can acquire it and fix their mouse trap to catch the new mouse. Letting modders play for months till a ban wave happens just so they don't have to update their octopus with every ban wave is lazy and allows modders to ruin wars for unknown amounts of people.

This might be regarded 'off topic' since this is not about that one YT'er or his clan... but more about what this post seems to have changed into. I will give it a shot however:

In our clans we have some very experienced players, school kids trying to get the hang of it, people busy with work, kids, life and what not ... To be honest (as leader of several clans and co-leader in others) I wouldn't have a clue as to who would/could/might be modding. In the past we've had one person who used some software (dunno the name) sometimes that would show him info on bases or something in wars and such. I told him he (and we) didn't need that. This is two years ago, and apparently SC has acted on people who were cheating like that back then.

Now I see stuff about modders, burners, burner clans, getting around the 24h ban on attacking newly created bases, being able to see full bases including traps/tesla's, rebuilding them and practicing.... and you know what? I have no idea how to spot it, see it, work with it or whatever, and I don't even want to... To see the accusations and assumptions fly by from left to right and back here, my question is: How should I, as a leader (or co-leader) of any clan, be (supposed to be) able to sense/know/tell that any one of the hundred+ members in our clans might be using this 'new modding stuff'.

We have people who advise others on attacks, who are attacking in wars and outside of wars and excel in it. A few of our members have had a lot of time on their hands due to not being able to work so they've gone through heaps of YT video's and have been perfecting several attack strategies .... and yes they often three-star bases. Not always, but often. Should simply that fact make me think they can NOT be doing that in an honest way?

Call me a noob or a fool, but that's not how we want to view our clanmates... Please let me know what software or techniques SC is giving clan leadership to check/double check their members ... ?
