Question about the Soup Kitchen

I just hit Level 46 and am wondering if the soup kitchen is really worth it. I hadn't planned on getting the lobster pool as the comments and reviews are just too negative, and I know there are one or two other kinds of soups available to make (depending on the level). I've faithfully gotten every machine as I've leveled up except for the lobster pool. And I'm sorry I got the net maker as I think fishing with nets is a worthless way to catch fish and thus don't use it anymore. SO... honest opinions here: is the soup kitchen worth buying?

It depends on what you plan to do. You will get asked for the soups whether you get the machine or not, both in your boat and the truck orders. Buying soups is easier than it used to be, but not as easy as i'd like. The soups pay well and while i don't keep mine running 24/7 it runs a lot

As for the lobster net, I have lots of lobster in my barn, and keep the net maker going all the time making lobster traps. I usually have at least three traps in the water at all times. Once you get it started, it brings in a stream of lobsters every couple hours. I also don't use the nets unless i am trying to use up some diamonds, and get the mystery one.

Elaborate on the factors that help you to determine if a production machine is worth purchasing.

If you're going for xps then lobster soup really gives very good xps. Plus when you reach a certain point when theres not much to play around with, you'll tend to want to buy/attain all the machines, pets, achievements, masteries etc. So its only a matter of time you buy it, thats my opinion.

I would agree with you Tigger. Buying the soups can be difficult. I try and sell some each day depending on boat orders but not always. I keep the lobster nets in the water, used the free mystery net but not bothered since and I use a fishing net if I am going to away for a day or so. Lobsters sell well too as does the soup.:)

Some good replies here, and I would agree and go for it... The lobster nets are free, as are the fishing nets.. If you are not working on any of the fishing targets, just place four of each in the water (or variations of 8) and they can be happily running away in the background at no cost but time... The soups are very rare in the DD, and as already mentioned they give out high XP's with the truck orders, and they sell in an instant... Plus - It's another achievement to aim for, albeit a lengthy one... lol.

If you have the coins then definitely buy the soup kitchen. The soups bring a nice chunk of change to your coin bank.

Everyone plays the game differently. Ignore negative comments. I hesitated on buying the lobster pool and net maker when it became available to me because of negative comments. But, I bought them and am glad I did. I hear some complain about net fishing. I like net fishing. I have three nets in my fishing area. I have found these areas each yield me three fish each. So I'm a happy little camper when I get 9 fish at once.

Thanks folks for your input. I do have plenty of coins so I have a feeling I'll be getting the lobster pool and doing all the upgrades. And I'll definitely get the soup kitchen. It's true that the challenges of "new and exciting" are slowing down a bit, so this will add some new twists to the game. Now I just have to figure out where to put the soup kitchen as I just recently completely rearranged all my machines and put berry bushes around all of them and made that section of my farm all "purdy." Guess I'll squeeze it in somehow. :)

And this is why I don't read the HD FB page much anymore. SO many negative comments, and that's exactly why I hadn't yet gotten the lobster pool. I'll just keep the traps in the water and go visit them from time to time.

And I guess this means I'll need to expand my fishing area. Right now I'm at 5 spots, but if I'm going to be lobstering, I'll need more. Back to the stress of finding land deeds instead of selling them!! Ack!!! (But hopefully not for long as I really enjoy selling them and making someone else's day.) :)

I'm in need of coins so I'd say buy it. The max price for lobster soup is 612 and tomato soup is slightly less. Lobster soup sells very quickly once you put the ad in the DD.
