My Clan Wars Idea and More, In the Style of Mastermind
Okay, so I think most people agree that clans have a lot of room for improvement.
I've seen many comments on this, but none that go into very much detail. I decided to do this in the style of Mastermind, because his threads get a lot of participation, and also because... well, let's face it, he's a genius. ;)
This is what I envision:
First, we need co-Leaders. co-leaders will have all of the same privileges as a regular leader, with the exception, of course, of assigning co-leaders:

One leader, plus two co-leaders should be sufficient.
Many people have requested bigger clans, but I don't think that is necessarily the direction to go. Many clans already have other clans that they are associated with. For example, my clan, Exiled Militia, has a feeder clan, Forgotten Exile. We need a way to connect the two clans, in game. I will use my clans as an example of how do do this--The clan leader will search for the clan and invite them into an alliance:

The other clan's leader will get a message in their inbox, with the option to accept or decline the invitation. If accepted, the two clans will become an alliance:

I'll leave it up to Super Cell to decide the maximum number of clans that may be aligned.
One problem that often occurs is that it can be difficult to recruit for a feeder, and when people do join, it can be difficult to keep them. Connecting the clans in an alliance will allow new recruits to see the full potential of the clan they have just joined. Also, by adding an 'Alliance' tab to the chat, all the members of the clans will be able to communicate with each other. Leaders and co-leaders will need the ability to reassign members to other clans within the alliance:

This will allow the "main clan" to recruit all levels of players, and reassign them accordingly. Adding an 'Elder' tab to the chat will allow elders of the entire alliance to communicate, in order to collaborate on trophy pushes, recruiting, reassigning members, etc. Most clans already do this with apps such as Kik, but that is a pain, as it means leaving the game in order to do so, if a second device is not owned:

Notice the new message indicator on the 'Alliance' tab. Adding these indicators to the tabs will keep chat active, encouraging people to participate.
I do believe that we should only be able to donate to and share replays with our own clan--Not the entire alliance. If a member wants better donations, they now have an additional motivation to work toward clan promotion.
What about clan wars though? Some people have given the idea of a community base, which will be designed and maintained by either all members, or a select group... I am against that idea, as I believe the core design of the game should not be changed. The main objective has always been, and should always be, improving your own base, and battling opponents.
When a battle replay is shared, there will be a button visible to only the leader and co-leaders, to declare war:

I considered the option of requiring a specified number of votes in order to declare war, but ultimately, I thought it was a job best left to the leader(s).
Choose carefully, because you may only be at war with one clan at a time.
What does a clan war battle look like? Quite simple--Just like any other battle. If you should choose to battle in a war, the same battle matchmaking that that is used for the rest of the game will be used here, but the pool of opponents in which you will be matched with, consists of all of the members who were in the enemy clan at the time war was declared.
If you are attacked in war, you will have one opportunity to revenge, just like what we currently have in the game. Once both battles have taken place, a winner is determined. The winner is the player who destroys the highest percentage of their opponents base. If they both three star each other, or end up with the same percentage, the loot total will be used to determine a tie-breaker. The loser is eliminated from the war, and the winner may go on, to fight another opponent of the enemy clan:

Once all opponents are eliminated, or a set time limit expires (72 hours?), the war is over.
The participants of the winning clan will be awarded a prize of gems, which will vary, based on the number of trophies won and loot taken in war, and will be awarded based on the participation of the individual. For example, if there are 50 battles, and you win five of them, you will be awarded 10 percent of the prize.
Members who join the clan after war has been declared are not eligible to participate, and anyone who leaves the clan while a war is in progress forfeits their eligibility to participate, or collect winnings.
There can be an icon on the main screen, or elsewhere, that links to the War Battle Log:
