You can probably BAM for 50% up to 2300, after that you need to switch to a "heavy" army, like Dragons, GoWiPe, whatever you're good at.

I snipe TH all the way up to master 3 so that I can clear the achievement to get gems.
It's hard and requires a lot of patience to search for an TH which placed outside.
I took almost a week to get there, try it and you'll know :)
It took me about 3 days from gold1 to reach masters at th7. It's alot easier with th8 using bam took me about 1.5 days and I even got over 2600 somehow. It does get relatively harder in crystal one I feel cause the existence of other th8s is very low so it's hard to get easy two stars. Expect to spend 100k nexting to find a snipe. Be careful with traps and teslas surround the THs, sometimes youll need to use more than half your army to get the TH. I don't reccommend hitting THs surrounded by wizard towers/infernos/mortars

I have a clanmate who snapped all the way to champs. He did it when he is low/mid th8.
Tried this a long time ago, after you hit 2300 trophies it becomes incredibly hard to find bases, unless you have lots of patience I would just farm at th8 and get your base upgraded which will allow you to get to masters easily.
Yeah I'm trying I'm th8. I'm currently at 2500 but i keep making stupid mistakes.
Don't try it, I'm wasting my time and getting mad at pixels.
Possible. How do i know? Because i did that days ago. Currently TH7 Maxxed. Upgrading to TH8. And it took me 3days from 1200-2600. Good luck
