Wouldn't it be nice if we can train specific troops and save them in a bank then use those troops to donate to my clannies. Some troops I don't use for my own raids but I would like to donate them.

Actually this is not a bad idea.
A separate army camp to house troops for donations. So that donating doesn't get in the way of your normal raiding.
+1
It's a great idea!
Awesome! That's a good idea.
[Can't find this idea anywhere... sorry if it's already been discussed somewhere else.]
What about having a Team Clan Castle castle where anyone in the clan could drop their troops in.
You would not be able to get your own troops back out, but anyone else could draw from the pool.
The clan leader could discard any unwanted troops out of the Team Clan Castle.
You would click on the Team Clan Castle icon and all the troops in it would appear with a notation of the donor of the troop. Click on the ones you want and they go to your Clan Castle.
The Team Clan Castle could hold say 200-300 spaces.
This would be in addition to the regular donating system.
Example 1: Have usual troops including 5 dragons. Going to bed. Nobody is requesting troops. Put 5 dragons in Team Clan Castle. Start 5 Dragons building. Go to sleep. Have usual troops again in the morning, but my clan mates got 5 dragons that they needed while I was sleeping.
Example 2: Am farming. Have more Elixir than I know what to do with. Never use PEKKA because I'm farming with Tier 1 troops. Have to go to work for 8hrs. Build 4 PEKKA. Out of work, put PEKKA's in Team Clan Castle. Go back to Tier 1 farming. My team mates have 4 PEKKA's to use.
I think that this would get people involved with more different kinds of troops as well.
ps. Sorry, just found the Clan Troops Donation Bank thread... somewhat similar
Hey,this is actually a really decent idea.+1
How would this work? How do you determine which troops go in the donation camp vs the normal one?
Simple.
If someone has requested troops, and you donate troops there, they go straight to that person's Clan Castle (regular way that we do it now).
If no one is requesting troops (or you don't want to give THAT person some troops), then you click on the Team Clan Castle Icon and you donate troops in there (and yes, THAT person can then draw from the Team Clan Castle ... IF they have enough spaces).
Nope... Remember, each troop in there has the donor name next to it.
One of the stipulations is you can't take your own troops back out.
That part, at least, should be pretty easy to code. :p
ps. As for the term Troop Bank, yes, that's probably what this is, but let's call it the Team Clan Castle - it fits well with the rest of the game, and sounds like a Supercell description/term.
I editted my post because a troop bank is what is being described...not sure why sandalhat bumped and mentioned camp.
Troop tracking is not easy to code. It means a good bit of additional overhead to track every level of every troop donated by who knows how many people. Furthermore there are other issues. Hoppers are an issue. Fairness is an issue. The order troops are withdrawn can be an issue.
Yes I think it could be. However, the amount of work and resources required compared to the benefit gained would be minimal. The feature wouldn't increase gem sales, wouldn't fix loot (in fact it might harm it depending on how much can be donated), doesn't add a new exciting game dynamic (like say clan wars) and provides only an incremental improvement over what is currently possible.
One way I may see it work is creating a separate barracks with both dark and regular troops in it. Then those troops would go to a separate camp either on the base or somewhere off-screen (this camp wouldn't count towards that base overall percentage when being attacked). Off-screen as in maybe if you were to swipe left on your screen there's a small army camp with troops or a key perhaps below the gems counter where the available troops to donate are available.
Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking too. Or perhaps whatever building is represented by this camp would just produce the troops. But I dunno, that gets murky when you start thinking about long building high capacity troops. Like if you want to donate dragons.
The point is, it is lopsided. It's a small thing to the players and a large one for the developers. Meaning it's not a great investment for SC. SC ideally wants changes like troops surviving after a camp is destroyed. Huge upside for the players, minimal investment to code. Short of that, their time on more complex things should have huge player upside to justify the time spent and any additional overhead required.
I'm not so sure it's that lopsided. The biggest reason I see people quit is because it takes so long to get to cool stuff. TH7's want Dragons, but can't have any, TH8's want Golems or Witches, but can't have them. If they have access to them, they can't afford them. If they can afford them, they can't make them in enough quantities to really get the feel of the troop. They get attacked by them, but can't use them themselves. They feel overwhelmed and give up.
With this idea, they not only get a better chance to defend themselves, but they get to taste what using those troops is like. That's a HUGE incentive to keep playing. It would even sometimes lead to some people buying gems to get to those troops faster. I think that there's enough incentive there for Supercell to bring this idea to fruition.
Great point on the high capacity troops unless they make these camps a higher troops capacity than the norm. Then maybe with higher troops capacity for these camps it may actually serve a purpose.
I understand now, thinking about it in that way the amount of joy it will bring for what needs to be done may not be worth it. Although I really do like the idea personally since donating troops ultimately leads to a delay in attacking. Each time a request pops up in chat and you donate you're delaying the time to attack which isn't time efficient. Having a separate camp or whatever may be able to hold the troops will lead to faster and more frequent raiding. Especially at TH 10 which enough time is already wasted looking for a base.
Rather than adding new camps or barracks, how difficult would it be to use existing buildings. Take a barracks for example. Have a seperate section for each troop type, a sub section, that when trained in this sub section, they are available only for donations and remain in the barracks until given away, eliminating the need for seperate camps. While they remain in the barracks, not moving to a camp and making room for more, there would be no queuing of more troops beyond the maximum, preventing banking of resources.
Im not sure if this falls within a difficult coding issue, but it does remove the need for additional buildings.
Pretty good idea. I kind of like it!
That would kinda be the same thing, but it doesn't help in the one area that is so important: I still would not be able to give troops to my clanmates unless I was there. A major point of having the separate Team Clan Castle is that it's there, and people can draw from it whenever they need to.
I think a better idea would be to revamp the Clan Castle "Info" screen and store the troops in the Clan Castle.
Here's the workflow I imagine:
1) You build a troop
2) Troop goes to camp
3) You open the Clan Castle "Info" screen
4) There are sections for two sets of information: Reinforcements (troops received), and Donations (troops for donation). The information is divided into separate views via individual tabs/pages or individual rows/lists of troops. There is a "Donate" button similar to the one found in the Clan chat window.
5) Click "Donate" and select troops using the same interface and process as when selection and donating troops to an ally, except that the troops go from your camps to your Clan Castle and appear in the row/list of troops under the new "Donations" section. The troop storage amounts are transferred accordingly.
6) When you donate troops to an ally via the Clan chat window, the quantities of troops available for donation take into account the number of troops stored in the Clan Castle for this purpose.
7) Limits may apply as Supercell designers see fit.
Though I'm ignorant to coding difficulties, my comment was an attempt to simplify while adding to the different donating system mentioned in this thread. I don't believe creating a communal donation bank would simplify things, nor do I believe SC wishes for this to become a passive game, that is, donating your quota and let others pick and choose. Simular to requests for auto collectors would be a passive aspect, eliminating the need to log in.
There was a thread, months back, that shared your thoughts on this idea. I will try to find it and post a link here.
The basic idea is to recode the clan castle so that it houses troops that you received, and troops that you want to donate.
Okay here's the sequence:
1) you train troops just like how you normally do
2) after troops are ready, you go to your army camp, tap on a troop, the option of "Send Troop to Clan Castle Bank" appears, you can then click it to send that troop to your CC.
3) note that this troop is only for donation. You can no longer use it for attack, and it will not defend your village.
4) whenever you wanna donate a troop, you can either do it from camp like now, or you can click on your CC, there's an option of Clan Castle Troop Bank, and u can donate whatever is in your bank.
Housing space of the bank can be adjusted, but same as CC capacity would work.
The advantage of this system is that it allows you to donate troops you don't normally use, and it doesn't take up your camp space if you don't use it.
Although you have to consider hoppers :/ as bad as it is there are hoppers who could jump into you clan take a dragon that was donated and leave. Maybe consider a certain amount of time the clan member has to be in the clan to even get troops from the bank. Another idea I would personally love is limit what troops can be donated.
Example:
By default the troop bank will have all troops permitted to donate.
But say the leader changed the troop requirement to only Archers, Wizards, and Dragons.
Buy yeah you get my drift :P
The idea of a clan barracks is really cool, I can't tell u how many times my clan is looking for a healer, dragons, or wizards... Yet I'm full already or am in the middle of harvesting troops for raiding. This would be pretty beneficial for noobs as well as higher leveled players in their respected clans.
This thread needs to be split into two completely separate and unrelated discussions:
1) Clan Barracks (....a bad idea)
2) Personal Donations Storage (....possibly a good idea)
