HOW TO:Find and farm inactive bases

Hello farmers, its time to unite for all of our common base growth.


I've been reading lots and lots of farmers complaining about the general lack of inactive bases to farm, this really strikes me as strange, because I can normally find an inactive within 4 or 5 searchers, these inactive bases normally don't have maxed collectors and mines, but are nonetheless very easy to take resources from with a small portion of my raiding army. I ask you how can players have such different luck, or is it luck or something else that's going on?


My intention in starting this thread is to allow players to post any ideas and theory's they have about what the best way to find inactive bases is. It is also my intention to use the information gathered to help us, the farmers, to build a better picture of how to find inactive bases with the least amount of trouble.


So what are you waiting for, if you have a plausible theory please post it here for the greater good of all farmers.


Also a final word, please take the time to read all the posts before posting yourself and be polite about other peoples ideas, lets keep this a nice and friendly thread for the betterment of all our bases.

To get the ball rolling heres my current theory about in-actives and just how to get at them with minimal searching.


Attack actives to get the in-actives
This approach has been tested and is working for me, although could do with more testing from others. So please try it yourself before rubbishing it.


Follow these steps:
1) Count and make a note of how many searchers you are doing to get an inactive base.
Definition of inactive, just so we are all clear: not played in the last couple of weeks will have- sleeping builders, lots of trees, no shield, no cc troops and full collectors and mines, regardless of the collector and mines level.


2) Attack 2 or 3 very active bases and get at least 1 star in each raid. Just so we we are all clear again, actives will have lots of loot in their storages, possibly cc troops, be a clan member and at least 1 working builder.


3) Log off.


4) Log back on and magically, when searching, you will start to find inactive bases within just a few hits on next.


5) After a good hour or two of finding and attacking only all the lovely inactive bases, log off again (raid for however long you like really, just take a note of the length of time).


6) The next time you search in-actives will magically be much harder to find.


Repeat steps 1 to 6 over the course of a couple of days and see for yourself, also to keep it a little more scientific, at all steps of the test please make sure you count how many searches before you are given an inactive base.


The crux of this theory is: Don't always attack inactive players and you will be given them much, much more regularly.


I will be really happy if farmers could give me some feedback on this as it could all still be just luck with only me testing it out.

I'll start it off with a couple of the things I look for right off the bat....
No league shield after a couple of days of a new league season...
As a TH9 I look for a TH7 with more than 150k of each, TH8 with more than 250k of each etc...know what the storage limit is for the base you're looking at.
Empty xbows and or inferno towers is another...

I do think its pure luck as to how often you find them, and I don't know if there's really anything to the theory that after an update or server maintenance that it goes down...for me I have had extraordinary luck finding these bases at ALL times before and after such events....but also had times where I don't see one really juicy one for ages.

If my little theory is true, I'm guessing that although you regularly farm inactives, you are not always just searching till you find and attack them. You sometimes (pure speculation) are going for the active ones, this could account for the times with differing ammounts of fat inactives in your search.

If you do have time please try to follow the steps from my theory and see if it makes any difference in the ammount of inactives you are presented with, just so we can put my idea to rest or actualy use it to our advantage.

I dont belive in luck :)

It's a lot easier for TH8 to find good loot from a base than it is for a TH9/10. What we as TH8's consider 'good' is what a TH10 sees as bad due to loot penalty. What we get from TH6 being TH8's is what TH10's get from TH8's. We're going to find more suitable bases to raid due to more people giving up at a lower level than higher level. Meaning we have more targets to choose from then higher TH players do. There's no magic trick to finding inactive bases or full storages, it's just time and effort. The people which don't have the time or effort to search for the bases won't get as far as the people who do. So making guides to farming or suggesting trophy levels is rubbish. There are bases that are good for everyone at all trophy levels. People who put time and effort in will find them, people who don't put anything in won't. People who boast about farming this or farming that have all a few things in common. Plenty of time, I'm talking more free hours than hours required to work. Dedication, they all know level 9 walls or level 12 cannons won't build themselves. Efficiency, this is basically time, they spend it well. Not putting any of their clashing time to waste. Now, you don't need to read some 40 page guide of how to farm 2m gold an hour, you just need to put in to get something out. It's simple to put into words, but not simple to do. People who complain they don't find any loot are the ones which play for one hour a day doing like 5 raids in that time. Hardly any time or effort resulting in hardly any resources gained. So my answer to your question about how to get inactive bases is TDE - Time, Efficiency and dedication.

So your saying that farmers who say"there are no in-actives anymore" are really saying there are no in-actives that have enough loot for them, because they have upgraded to a higher Th and the loot penalty is stopping them from finding the same sorts of loot takes from in-actives as they did at the former Th level, Right?

Grendel...I don't know about your theory, but it don't JUST look for inactive bases, I farm....but I also mess around attacking bases that I think are interesting etc...knowing I can get resources to profit...even if it's not as efficient time wise as pure collector farming.

your theory is interesting, but I'm not the one to test it, as I don't stick to one way of doing things long enough to collect appropriate data to prove OR disprove a theory.

From what you say your attacking about the same sort of targets as me.

And thats why I believe my theory is correct, you say you have really good luck finding inactives, but yet dont always bother to attack them. Your style of play sounds about the same as my style (find it borring just collector raiding in-actives). This all ties in with my theory nicely i.e. I suspect it's the players that only want to do collector raiding from inactive bases that are having the problems finding in-actives, the players attacking a mixture of inactive and active bases are having no problem finding both types.

Maybe I've been over presumptuous about your style of play, I promise you I meant no offence towards it. I was just trying to better understand the way the search system really works, cause I've read that the standard supercell line is that inactive bases go to the back of the queue, and thats not what I'm seeing in my searches, especially after I have attacked a few active players.

I understand that you don't want to get to far involved in my test, but just keep an eye on how long it takes before you see an inactive, if you see anything surprising or have any other ideas then please post them here.

I disagree that town hall 9 and 10 cannot find inactive bases. I have gotten 3 600k+ raids in the last week. All inactive th9 and 10's. I hardly ever get less than 300k a raid- farming at th9 is still great.

I also disagree that you cannot find great opponents with much of elixir and gold if you have a TH9 or TH10, but it is very difficult. Last days i didn't find any opponents with more then 250.000 of gold, that sucks.

I think the best way to farming with TH7 is by 1300-1700, with TH8 by 1300-1700, with TH9 by 1500-1700 and with TH10 1700-2000, but every people think other about that. :)
