Any Tips & Tricks for a Hay Day newcomer?

Hello I am Somerandomguy64. You may have seen me on the Clash of Clans forums.

Last night I decided to give Hay Day a try, and it it very good.

However I feel "stuck," and I cannot really get further:

Tips would be greatly appreciated.

Current level: 13
I have:
1 Popcorn Pot
1 BBQ grill
2 Feed Mills
1 Dairy Production Building
24 Tiles of Field
1 Bakery
1 Cow Pasture
1 Pig Pen
2 Chicken Coops
I have the mailbox, roadside shop and the daily Wheel of Fortune.
I have 9 chickens, 5 cows and 5 pigs. Does anybody know what I should do next?

Also, does anyone know of any good tricks to get XP?

What do you mean with stuck? :confused:

You have alot of areas to expand, alot of machines to purchase, alot of fish to catch. I dont see how you can be stuck... Do you feel that the exp is getting slow or what?

Yes, the EXP is getting slow. Besides decorations and a few chickens, I've bought pretty much everything I can buy for my level. I'm getting XP off of orders and farming crops.

I also can't find any axes/saws to clear all the trees in my farm.

Well, the exp shouldnt be that slow at that level compared to later levels. If you just want to lvl fast I would recommend doing as much truck orders as possible. It's pretty much all you can do in the early levels.

Later you will get the dock which gives some exp and vouchers for pets.

Saws, axes, dynamite, TNT and shovels is something that you can get randomly from crops or when you collect produced items. You will also soon get to use a guy called Tom for a few days, he can collect saws, axes etc. for you but only for a couple of days then he costs diamonds to hire.

What do you do with pets? If this turns into a two person convo I will take it into PM.

Pets are just there to be cute and ofc eat, so you have to feed them!

But when you feed them they go to sleep and when you wake them up they have a chance to give you expansion materials and other goodies. I dont really remember when you can buy your first pet but I believe it was somewhere between lvl 15 and 20.

Max your builders and make gold from your stand; it will all make sense when the Farm Wars update hits.

You are clearly hung over from your time on the dark side :) -- we love our newbies here, and there is no disgrace in being a lower level player. Many high level players are GRATEFUL for lower level followers to help and bring along.

Depending on the hours you are willing to play and the speed, you can make at least one level a day for the next 10 or 15 levels, maybe more. I used to buy cheap from newspaper and resell a bit higher but still under max in the beginning, which made me good coins. With those I used to buy as many expansion materials as I could find to expand the storages, to produce and sell more.

I did not care for hoarding anything, everything went to the shop (with the exception of truck orders) until I felt comfortable with the coins and the other stuff.

you can make loads of xp when filling boat crates at other players. So make many friends via GC and rush through their farms by clicking the avatar on the upper corner of a shop. Whenever there is an exclamation mark, watch out for boat or trees and bushes, to collect xp.

Same goes with the newspaper. You cannot only buy stuff from there but also watch out for farms needing help. The exclamation mark wont always show, so check every single destination if they need help.

the more you travel on foreign ground, the more often you will see the red treasure box. Click it every time, it contains good items but there is no need to pay diamonds for opening. Jst try your luck and some can be opened for free.

I have never bought diamonds and this sometimes makes it hard to be patient but the hard work will eventually show results!

Next step I would say is to expand your friendlist, there is a thread here where people offer friendship.

I'm level 29 and when I first started I felt I needed to expand really fast. But I've made myself just clam down and enjoy the game for what it is. So now I'm not in a rush, help people when I can....mostly by watering plants cause I don't have enough stuff to help fill boat orders.....and just enjoy my farm. I know I'll get there eventually!

I see your point Susan! But I wanted to expand fast and to have all machines etc, still need one level to unlock the candy. I hope I will calm down after that :)

@SGD Never sell rare items under max price, big mistake I made in the beginning. Gave lots of followers though who's farm I could visit and watch out for needed help.

Never sell rare items under max price? Ok, did not realize that. I used to sell stuff at slightly lower prices so more people wouls buy me, but I guess people will buy either way :)

People will pay max price for any expansion materials, animal feed, dairy, sugar and anything made like bakery or cakes. The only thing that you could sell for default price is wheat, eggs, bacon or bacon and eggs IME. They are too common so if you want rid quickly and to make coin quickly you should price them competitively.

Yeah, big time. People pay anything for building expansion materials (BEM) and land expansion items (LEM, from lvl 22 onwards). I started late with expanding land because of the incredible money I could make with selling my findings.

Rare also are sugar and diary products and some other stuff from higher levels, you will notice what other shops sell or dont.

There is a Hay Day Wiki (google it) where you can check which machine is available at which level and its price. It helps to safe gold and to try to purchase the machine immediately when having reached the respective level because the truck will have orders as soon as you entered that level. Same counts for the boat, once you can repair the dock.

many people trade but I cant do it because my shop is highly frequented and good things sell within fractions of a second but it might be a solution for you to exchange cream for saws and axes or so.

@SGD had a look at your farm: no need to worry about saws and axes as long as you have space to put your machines and animals. You will find them anyway, I wouldnt waste money on them if I wasnt desperate for space.

You were selling bacon and eggs, five or so for max price - it took me up to three days continuous advertising to sell them when I was at your level. Better sell them for much less than what you see inthe newspaper. Cornbread isnt easy to sell either but it will go faster. Would sell them for 60 gold each at the most.

You have a few slots in your shop only, go and send friend requests. You can sell much more when you have more slots!

not sure from when on trees are available. Buy them as soon as you can and harvest like mad. You will get a lot attention if you call for help and people with hundreds of friends will have you in mind (especially when you sell sugar and dairies on a daily bases).
