Helping other farms ANONYMOUSLY

When I visit a shop and buy something, I help boat orders, trees,etc. In doing so, I open up my shop to any random shop hog to completely buy out my shop leaving nothing for my followers which is BEYOND annoying, especially because I do update my shop frequently. I get really bummed when this happens and there is no way to block them. Why should I bother helping people when this is the result 80% of the time? I would like the option to ANONYMOUSLY help people. If I want more customers, I will place an ad.

Sometimes that is a person's way of saying "Thank You" for helping their boat. You will eventually fall off their Last Helpers slot and you will be rid of them.

It is wonderful that you want to help people, but if it annoys you so much that they buy out your shop then don't help a stranger out. Only help your friends and followers.

Why do you put things in your RSS? To sell and make coins if you're like the rest of us.

I guess I am different because I am not doing it to make money. I only sell rare and time consuming items, ice cream, nails, bolts, jams,etc. Due to this people aren't buying out my shop to benefit me so much as to benefit themselves. I put things in my shop for my followers, not to make money especially since nothing in my shop is ever full price. I am at level 78, have over 45 friends and followers, and am really not concerned with making coin, just being there for my friends and followers and getting to be a level 100 'warlock farmer'. The only achievement that I do not have is the Citizen Kane III achievement because I don't want or need more followers at this time and do not put ads in the paper.

I have now stopped helping anyone who is not a friend or follower, which kind of makes me feel bad when I see someone who needs help and I have what they need. I would just like to have a privacy setting so I can continue to help others without having that decrease my enjoyment in the game.

There's a "pay to forward " thread on the forum. If you really want to help some people out , you should check out the thread. You'd can decide what you're going to give to people and can set limits.

I accidentally helped a tree on a stranger's farm and they are hogging my entire shop every five flipping minutes. I am SO frustrated! I have to go on strike now, forget about putting anything in my shop til that b leaves. I have even changed my shop name to ask them not to hog, then to telling them to go away, no such luck. This has made the game entirely unenjoyable. I am being punished for accidentally helping someone. We shouldn't be punished for helping. Seriously. Please give us the option of playing anonymously. Until then, I will most likely lose all followers since my shop is empty thanks to ungrateful shop hogs.

I don't follow or be friends with someone simply for their shop. Half the time it seems that my followers and friends and I help each other out with boats and tree revivals.
The whole point of the shop is to make money so what difference does it make who is buying the stuff?

Please refer to my previous posts. I make my money from boat and truck orders. Items in my shop are for my friends and followers. People DO follow me for my shop, nothing is ever full price and most items are rare. I understand.

Once you rid yourself of your unwanted farmers (you will eventually fall off of their last helpers list), you'll need to refrain from helping miscellaneous farmers. You can only help those on your friends and followers list because the control you want is applicable. You can remove them as you see fit.

Also, refrain from contributing to global events and boats because you become visible to farmers that are not connected to you and you lose the control aspect of only being connected to those you wish.

If this person annoys you so terribly that your not enjoying your game play, then fill your shop with common items at full price, that will make your shop less desirable and discourage them buying you out. On the other hand, that person might not be your friend but they may need coins to buy a machine or something, so you are actually helping a stranger.

It's just a game, a virtual farm, I used to get annoyed myself, but came to the realization if I put it up for sale, then it's up for grabs to whoever wants it. I see lots of my neighbors have changed their farm names asking people not to be greedy, what is greedy? How much am I allowed to buy before I'm considered greedy? So for me, I don't buy from that farm even though they clean out mine, because I don't want to be greedy...lol. I also fill my RSS with hard to find items :) I fill boats and revive trees for people from the DD, even if I don't buy from their shop :)
A stranger is only someone you have not met yet! Don't stress over a game, enjoy yourself and have a great day!

It's just a game ..why so serious? ..regardless friends or strangers ..helping out the others also helping out ourselves as well .. It's always both ways ! ..after all, it's an open game that helps to relax rather than increases frustrations.. Is it worth it ?.. happy farming all ..

Have you tried stocking your RSS with a bunch of ♥♥♥♥? Say eggs, bacon, eggs & bacon, wheat, corn, etc? Sometimes if you continuously stock ♥♥♥♥, the person tends to go away. I was stocking my RSS for friends one day and someone I helped came right behind me and cleared my stand. I waited a few minutes and started stocking again from the beginning. Sure enough the person lingered (for almost 20 MINUTES!) and kept buying out all my goods. So I stocked tons of unwanted goods and they vanished. I know it's tedious and annoying, but sometimes it can't be helped.

Its not the first time that I read people talking about greediness and bla bla bla. Most of the people on low levels like me need to make money (unless when you where there u paid for coins).
When somebody helps me out, and I have access to their store I sometimes buy even what I dont need thinking I'm helping, because its great when people buy my things. You see? This type of complaint make me sad to visit other farms, some people just take the fun out of the game.

Anaeli, don't be sad girlfriend, people are just people and they forget we all have freedom of choice, we can play any ole way we want to, if they don't like it, then feel free to unfriend me! If it's in the shop, then it's up for grabs to anyone, everywhere, all over the world! I used to have my farm name "shop till u drop" ....lol
There is only one place I won't buy from, it's the last slot on the right, that stall people use for trading, if you see a wheat or corn for 1 coin, they are trading with someone, so don't buy that one, it's a way we can give to people at a much lower rate or 10 for 1 coin to help someone out :)
i have friends and followers that buy as soon as I put things in my shop, then they put it up for sale in their own shop...lol
play the way you want and most of all, have fun, it's just a game for cryin out loud :p

Being greedy is buying more then half of the entire shop NUMEROUS times a day. I have asked nicely via changing my farm name for them to PLZ stop to no avail. I am not stressed, more irritated than anything. It is rude and unfair to my friends and followers. I guess I will continue to shop and try to remember to NOT help when I see that it is needed, which sucks. If I could be anonymous, I would be helping as much as possible.

I second CatsMeow, if it's in my shop it's there to buy, for one person or several, to buy all or to buy some items.

I actually hardly buy anything from my neighbors or followers, but I love to shop. I'm that anonymous raider that some ppl come across while advertising ;-)

As mentioned by someone else you could put up uninteresting stuff like eggs and bne and wheat and corn, all full price. That might scare that person away, but it won't please your neighbors. My extra tip is to hide a bush that needs reviving behind the main house (or any hard to find place on your farm), so you turn up (and stay up, at least till someone finds that bush ;-)) on the help tab of your friends as a sign you are going to put some items up for sale.

I'm sorry that you are having such difficulties. The game was designed to be an open, social experience, not a solo game for the player and a select few connections. This is why there is currently no "block" or "privacy" button as you request nor a closed RSS.


Everyone has the right to play as they feel comfortable and gives them enjoyment, including you. The RSS was designed as an open shop for anyone and everyone to buy from...keeping with the open social design. There is no such thing as being "greedy" or "raiding" except as you see it. For most, being bought out is a blessing as shown in the many replies you've seen. For you, it's sadly not such a blessing. :(

Your only options are to accept the way the game is designed and adjust so you can continue to enjoy your game with a new way of seeing it ,and eventually this person will go away, or you can fill your shop up with lower level items at full price or wheat at full price until they go away, which gives the extra advantage of finding lots of expansion materials. Don't worry, your neighbors and followers will forgive you...especially if you sell some of these expansion materials. :)

Additionally, and very importantly, all players are to be respected whether one agrees with the way they play or not. Therefore, certain behaviors are banned for the sake of courtesy and respect, including calling out other players, whether on the farm sign or in this forum, in an attempt to force them to change the way they play or to shame and hurt them for playing in a different style.

Although this thread began as a simple request for a privacy option in order to have more control over guest shoppers, it has sadly devolved into the usual debate. I have no choice under those circumstance but to close this thread.
