Okay. So if you troll the forms you see a lot of posts about what is the best range to "farm" or how to get to masters/champion league.
But where do you have the most fun?
Personally I like the highest range I can still loot at. Near the end of TH8 its was crystal III. At the moment as a brand new TH9 I'm at Gold I.
I find purely collector raiding to be boring. I also find purely trophy hunting to be overly time consuming and lacking in reward (huge wait times, poor loot)
I like Crystal 2 at th 10. Decent bases, loot to be had and I can use wb's, barbs, archers and gobs and maintain my trophies.
higher it becomes a bit of a chore and higher tier troops and longer build times are needed. I like to attack often when I have the time to play.
Gold 1 (1900-2000) I like this trophy range because you can find lots off DE and gold being a th9.
As a TH8 I like the silver II to crystal III range the best. Like you, I don't just go after collectors. I try to take down the entire base up to the 90% range then stop the raid short of 100%. Enough to get all the resources, give the attackee a shield, but not 3-star him/her.
My most fun is at bronze when i 3 star th 3-4 bases with all drags or gowipe or hogs or just straight up pekkas
1450-1550 is best for me

For TH8, and early TH9, I've had most fun around 2200, so low Crystal 2. Challenging, you can maintain trophies easily once you get used to it, and there's enough loot from a wide variety of bases. That said I'm now surviving in Crystal 1 and the bigger loot bonus is quite addictive.
Up to TH5, it was really fun in bronze up to around 700-ish - low level barbarians (& maybe some gobs) vs stupid bases!
2550-3000 is fun and profitable with bloonions or hogzards.
