966's Clan Wars Idea (Detailed, with pictures!)

So here are my issues:

1. Technically infeasible.

I have my doubts devices can deal with the gigantic maps. In addition consider that SC does not let folks watch as someone attacks their village. There is likely a reason for that.

This idea relies on several folks, maybe even 50 all deploying troops at once. If I'm reading this correctly something like 40 per person x 50 people plus some number of donated troops. This is a huge performance requirement increase.

Furthermore there are going to be balance issues here. The number of buildings is static across bases, but the number of troops that can be deployed is highly variable. Furthermore the base can follow a completely different trajectory than the members. What happens if the cv th is 10 and the members all have th8?

2. Very difficult logistically

Even with battle chat how would these attacks be coordinated? You've got a number of different folks all deploying troops at once, yet coordinated attacks are going to be essential.

Also how do you deal with any sort of network lag?

3. Town hall based matching does not work. If it did we would have it.

4. Only leaders and elders can modify bases and initiate attacks, but again everyone will need to contribute. I keep saying this, but that is not fun. Why would I donate to a base i have no control over? Also there is going to be major drama surrounding resource allocation and layout.

5. What's in it for SC. Will gems be donatable? If so, even more drama.

6. Annoying. If I don't feel like participating I'm going to get constant pop ups.

Lastly and this may be an issue, but I don't understand how loot works. Will it be enough to be rewarding for the participants? What kind of amounts do you see? What do those amounts look like when graphed over the number of participants? How much do I get if i donate but don't fight?

Number 1, I agree with. So it would be a bit hard on the network and stuff, huh?:(

Number 2, I guess like someone else said, there could be a 5 minute delay instead of 1 for the people to view the base and discuss tactics. And I think Battle Chat would make it a little easier; someone could say "deploy a rage on the drag group in the NW corner" and one person could say "ok" and they would drop it.

For the network lag, I guess they could deploy troops normally, except that the picture would suddenly jump to the current time every once in a while. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Number 3, Why doesn't TH matching work?

Number 4, Maybe there could be a button where members could layout the base how they like, and mail it to the leader as a suggestion?

Number 5: More popularity?:p I don't know. Perhaps gems could be donated to speed things up and buy resources? And then letting whoever donated the gems spend it how they like? Will that work?

Number 6: A button to turn off notifications?

Number 7: Well, I don't imagine it'll be too high at the beginning, but the bases will be easier to destroy, so hopefully, it'll be okay. Should the donated get half of what the active members get?

TH matching doesn't work because it makes lower THs immune to higher ones. The most advantageous way to climb to the top of the rankings with this system is to not upgrade your TH at all. Thus you're ensured a steady stream of weak targets all the way up.

This is magnified in your example because the TH level is disconnected from the troops. At least with the traditional game, if you keep your TH low you are stuck with ♥♥♥♥ troops.

Basically the ranking system (trophies) cannot be decoupled from the matching system or the ranking system will cease to have any real meaning.

I also found a contradiction:

The leader/elder who chose to attack can see the number of players going to fight, but not who they are. He can choose whether to fight or not depending on how he feels.

and

There will be something that tells you who deployed what troops in the end, including the people who donated troops and spells. There will be 2 groups that you can view separately: the active and the donated members. That way, you can give a warning to people who dropped like 20 Barbs and then just watched the rest of the battle.

Presumably the first idea is so that people cannot be compelled to fight if they don't want to, but that is completely obliterated by the second point where you would know exactly who fought and what they did.

For the TH thing, it's true that you would win a lot of battles, but you would also lose many in return. And since you don't get any trophies from Clan Wars, you can't exactly go up in rankings. The only reward you could get is resources from looting, which will be low at low TH levels, or gem rewards, which will be difficult with a low TH base. (Is not being able to get trophies from Clan Wars a bad idea? Should i be matched by trophy count instead?)

But I agree, there should be some more incentive for upgrading your TH.


For the second thing, they don't get any resources if they don't participate in the battle at all, so wouldn't people participate in battles, even if it was just a little? If they truly don't want to be an active battler, they could still donate troops and get some loot.



I was thinking something else: I'm worried about the potential lack of loot. Should collectors produce double, and storages hold double?

I think for this to work, SC must add more clan positions. I don't think elders should be able to request to battle. There should be a higher position that can (co-leader perhaps?)

This is actually one of the poorer of the Clan Wars ideas out there. Lot's of it seems unfeasible technically.
And imagine being in one of the top 10 clans. All you'd ever see would be clan challenges.
