Tricking Out the Trees!

I am one of those persons who like the trees to face the same direction on my farm. Several weeks ago I was editing my farm and noticed something but couldn't remember what...there's a post here somewhere.

Anyhoo...it seems that if you erase your trees while in edit mode, when you place them back on the farm using the handy little paint tool, they'll all be facing one direction. At least this is my experience. I've tried it several times now and it works every time. It's especially handy for those pesky banana plants and orange and peach trees.

This also works with the honey and other bushes.

Disclaimer: they may not face the direction you want them to initially. I've rotated the first one then used the paint tool and that seemed to work. Let's hope it continues.

It's a pretty good workaround - if you have a little time - until the trees come out in one direction when bought.

This has annoyed me for years - the big bushes come out the right way but the trees and 1x1 bushes are random. I should try to be less obsessive but I too like tidy!

I have practically begged Nick to get this changed since before they changed the bushes. I was THRILLED when they changed the bushes, but should have known it would be half a job. Why not change the damn trees as well. I've pleaded since then, but it unsurprisingly falls on deaf ears, he did say once that he'd ask tech, but that was the end of it.

The Paint Brush rarely works for me but I'll give it another go.

Same with me. My trees have to be uniform. I was thrilled when the bushes made that small correction. Do wish the bee bushes would catch up. The only trees that I ever change around are the cherry trees. I like having them draping at times, lurking during Haloween. I just accept that adjustments are part of my farming chores, sigh.

SmallChange, if you take them out one by one it works too. The paint tool just makes it easier - if it works.

Another thing, the trees will also come out "oldest" to "youngest". That's a nice feature - mostly. "Oldest" seems to be interpreted as "most likely to flower/produce fruit first" so the way you last harvested may cause mature trees to be interspersed with seedlings. Still overall, the edit mode helps a lot.

Hmm I find trying to 'paint' a 5x5 patch of trees almost impossible they just don't seem to go where I want

Ohhhhhhh, so that's how the game lays out the trees.

Re: the trees, I'm more of a stickler for having trees in the same life cycle grouped together. It makes it easier to plan for how many saws I'll need. And it always bothered me that design mode seemed to "paint" trees into hodgepodge arbors of mixed generations.

Now I know why that's so. But I haven't the foggiest how to cure that. :D

And now I know enough so that if someone who never asks for anything ever swings by my farm they just might find saws available for sale. You know - just in case that paint brush messes with the programme...:)

What annoys me most about trees is, that it's almost impossible to harvest only one tree unless you have a lot of space inbetween them. Often you'll end up harvesting half of the tree next to it, which is quite annoying.
