I laugh at the one to speed up jam maker. Most of the time you still can’t get 1 jar done. My second is speed up trees or bushes 10%.

You are not really understanding the boosters, then.
if you have jam on, it speeds up that jam. If you have several production slots, then all jams are boosted. If the booster ends, all jams in on machine are boosted, so it is good beyond its timer.
same goes for tree booster
Yes, I do understand how they work. Jam is still agonizingly slow when I am looking at a couple of jam boats and then the town. :smirk: I’m glad you posted your comment as I’m sure there are players that didn’t realize just how much the boosters do. Have a great day.
Agreed, 10% speed on bushes is like huffing and puffing on the wet paint we are watching dry.
The 40% jam booster is better, if you are young and healthy and live long and prosper, you might even make one strawberry jam before your boat comes.
Ok 10% may not seem like much, but it is better than nothing. If you do not like the booster you get - TRASH IT! It is always an option.
Maybe the next time your boss wants to give you a 10% raise, you can turn that down to because you would rather have more.
I balance cost of diamonds to store booster against usefulness. Yes I have refused raises and held out for more. Lol I got what I wanted everytime. XD One must always know their own value in any negotiation. Have a great day!
since when? that doesn't make any sense to me. the way machines work, they are actively producing one item, and then you can put other things in queue, to produce AFTER that item is complete. machines only make one thing at a time. it does not make sense that a booster would affect the production time for something that is not yet being produced, because it is in queue to be produced AFTER the thing that is being produced is finished. if that were to be true, then when they are in queue, why wouldn't those items also decrease in time, for the fact they've been in queue. does not compute.
i did search to find some corroboration of what you propose, but i cannot find anything. that would indeed change how i understand boosters, but i don't think that's how it works.
Shady, I have found what Wussypuss said to be true. I have had a card expire, and items that were in the original queue still showed the sped up time. I’m not sure it goes beyond the number of slots that you have. So for example on the Candy machine I have 9 slots for production. I have activated a card, and filled all 9 slots with lollipops and chocolate bars. Each shows the sped up time. But if I go back to add additional product, it showed the regular production time. I think I see an experiment in the works. :)
Well, I have a crop booster for 8 hours... I can try and document it after I finish my current task.
ok, this is am starting to follow. i have noticed that when i have item 1 in production (boosted) and it completes with say 10 minutes left, the next item that enters production remains boosted. i never would have thought every item beyond item 2 in queue would be though, i thought it was just a function of the fact that it entered production while booster was still in effect. wow
see response to momscar re: my potential confusion about production boosters. like i said i have noticed it effected the next item in queue but always thought a function of that item entering production while booster is in effect. truth be known, i almost never use the production boosters, because i always thought they were kinda useless lol.
i'd love to see tests. i guess the principle would be proven with a crop booster but i'm still curious.
i always thought the way i looked at it - production booster is active, item 1 in production, completes with 10 minutes left. item 2 is boosted. i never thought 3, 4, 5 - 9 would also be boosted. i'm still unsure until i see something that proves that. i'll grant item 1 and 2.
Likewise, I will plant rice in advance of taking the booster and the rice already planted will get boosted and I will try to show the last booster rice with the booster expired, but it is an 8 hour booster, so bear with me:D
momscar... Do you have a candy machine booster going now? If so, how much time left?
strawberries example follows my understanding. they entered 'production' (growing) at the boosted time.
loading candy machine for days does not prove point - that's easy. but if all at the boosted time, that proves yours, and is not as i understood them to be. i love learning new stuff lol.
Wussypuss, I do not have any production boosters now. I will have the jam, ice cream and something else after the derby. I will be happy to test it out then. If I happen upon a booster before then, I will activate it, and report back.
I planted some rice, lettuce and onions. I then activated the booster and they automatically started the boosted time.
https://preview.ibb.co/hBzekb/image.png
i will do the same in the dying moments of the booster.
Okay... I don't have a production booster at the moment either, but when I do take one, it is specifically because I can load up production spots right up until the end time of the booster so every last one gets boosted. I will document it as well next one I get.
OK, I wanted to use this phrase for a while and the moment has finally arrived: HOLY COW!
And yes, I'm shouting. Thank you Wussypuss for teaching me about the boosters, specifically about the one for the jam. I have all slots open on the JamMaker and didn't know the timer extends to all jams in the queue.
Again, Holy Cow! :)
neither do i. i never pick them and always trash them, or i'd try it myself. i believe you, but i'm just not convinced it's true. it doesn't seem like that's how it's 'supposed' to work. but if it does, then well it's actually useful. lol
like i said, it would change how i think about them. i'm just not convinced yet. all the other examples i concede - they are in line with what i understood.
Yes...very nice to cut 40% time off 9-10 jars of jam. I have never found a way to leverage this enough to supply a boat without Tom’s help. Still takes to long and you only have 4 hours to prep for most boats. Unless you fellow farmers figure out a trick I haven’t. I’m looking forward to see how your experiments work out. Good luck.
I keep 50 of each jam in stock, except for the newer ones. My hoarding threshold increases as my barn increases XD
I second that motion. I only keep 20-30 of most things on both farms.
For me the most worthless booster is any that reduces Tom's siesta from the standard 2 hours. I don't splurge diamonds on Tom, so such a booster will never be of use to me.
I really wish that those 2 horseshoe gift columns related to boosters had at least one non-booster. I hate having to accept 2 boosters as derby prizes and then immediately trash them.
I'm with you. I hate the fact that two rewards in derby come up with boosters. I trash them every time. The only ones I keep are for filling creates on boats, and then only two or three creates. Boosters are a waste of time.
You are correct Wussy, that is how they work for me. I just use as many as I can because they are there and I can😀
I fill the jam maker, candy machine etc and let them go. Usually try and make sure the machine is full before the booster time runs out. Same with crops, tress and bushes.
I love boosters 😂 I will take all the help I can get, I always take the jam booster coz it comes with ice cream and another machine, I'm not a boater so I don't take the boating ones or the ones that speed up plants or bushes coz I have enough plants.
Not sure if I will buy a diamond package for extra boosters. But I am Glad for every booster and use them as soon as I get them so I always have free space n never use diamonds to keep them.
Only booster I might try n save is the tomatoes and potatoes one, coz it certainly helps much when I get a 320 cornucopia task. Other then that, whatever I get I use asap.🙊🙊
Also I caught onto the booster lasting for whatever is in ur queue, so I've always liked the production boosters 😊
So I have a 3star booster for the Jam, ice cream and soup maker. I just activated the card and took before/after pics showing the queue and the time remaining for the first item in the queue. (Hoping posting pic will work)

Ok, we are now about 7 1/2 hours into the experiment. If you look closely you will see that there are 2 jams waiting to be picked up and the I have filled the queue completely. The last jam (blackberry) still shows the reduced time to cook. By the time the current jam is finished, the booster card will be expired. I will edit this post after that to show that the blackberry jam is still working at a reduced time and that anything put in after that will revert to the normal time.

So what I have found is this. That at the end of the booster time only the item currently “cooking” continues on the reduced time, not all of the items in the queue. I am going to suspect though that crop, trees and bushes would not do this as they do not have to wait for 1 item to get done before it starts growing. So even though the production machine part of this experiment may not have produced the results we were hoping for, IMHO, the boosters are still beneficial. Use them, don’t. It’s your game.

i think crops and trees work exactly the same way, actually. any of them that are boosted when a booster is active remain boosted for their duration.
if you mean that say trees / crops entered the boost cycle with variable time periods of completion - say your apple trees have 1, 2, 5 hrs to completion, the ones with 2 and 5 hrs don't revert to regular times, they remain boosted. the principle is the same. whatever is boosted when booster is active remain boosted.
Good to know -- thank you so much for the experiment! I would gladly have opened up the last four spots on my jam maker if it was true.... (You just saved me diamonds! Although what I'm saving them for I have no idea....)
I was actually quite shocked when this happened, as I am quite sure I have seen it the other way. I prep many items for the derby and use booster when I have them, but do not depend on them during the derby. So this hasn’t effected any of my tasks, but I can see where it might, especially on the loom where the time on the blue hats was (or maybe still is) close if you take the task and then start working it.
Shady, yes you are correct. Whatever is already working at the boosted time remains that way, whether it is trees/bushes/crops or product.
Rae, I was young and stupid when I opened those slots, but I rarely have to worry that the Jam maker isn’t working. I think having 3 or 4 slots is plenty, quite like the smelters.
So when I finally got to my farm, I checked my machines again. While the Jam maker was working at regular speed, my Ice Cream maker and Soup Kitchen were still giving reduced time for the items that were in the queue when the booster expired. Why? It’s anyone’s guess. But it actually happened. And it has been nearly if not over 12 hours that the booster expired. I will post additional pics of the Ice Cream maker to see if the other items that are in the queue get the boosted time or not. You can see in the Soup Kitchen the last item did. I’m just sad the Jam Maker didn’t work this way.

I had same result as always. 50% booster ran out and only current jar kept shortened time. All others went back to regular time. Ran 10-12 hours and still not enough jam for boat this morning.
I had 2 left in ice cream maker. Only the one currently being produced still had shortened time and not others in cue.
Good to know I am not crazy, momscar!
will be doing more production boosters to see what up...
Wow! Yesterday all my jam showed regular time on the jams left in the queue. I didn’t take a screenshot then, as didn’t think it was necessary. Now this morning we have this:
http://i67.tinypic.com/drdvle.jpg
I took a production booster from my derby rewards, foregoing a few good hours with a certain young lad ;)
here is is my candy machine, which I have loaded up (yes, it looks like a candy tree... I like it this way)
if if I tap and hold on the last chocolate bar, it shows the boosted time, which will be long after the booster expires
https://image.ibb.co/gDrJWG/image.png
Worthless booster for me: soybean & sugarcane, because they are already short time. Ernest (dislike him, hihihi)
Fav. boosters:
- free Tom/Rose
- bushes & trees
- boat: 30% speed up for boat coming & free fill 2 crates. Very helpful for boat task.
- candy machine
wishes booster :D :
- smelter speed up
- lobster trapping process & lobster trap making in the net maker.
- eggpress train/personal train maintenance speed up.
For those who were wondering, my production machine booster ran out about 18 hours ago.
all items in my production queue on the candy machine before the booster expired are still showing the boosted time
https://image.ibb.co/gmVqfb/image.png
The ones queued don't show boosted time, but they do get boosted when being processed. Not showing the boosted time might be a bug.
WP, when you tap on the last item in the queue, does it show boosted time or regular time. On my last post with the jam, it would show the regular time until it was in the first slot being cooked. Either way, at least we know we are probably getting more time from the booster than the description states. (% for ?hours). If that even makes sense. Thanks for testing the candy maker.
Hi all,
The queue product is still boosted even though the booster time is finish.
I had activated jam booster, blackberry jam in process, raspberry jam waiting. & then I activate the tree booster. Now, the jam machine is processing the raspberry, still boosted time.
How to attach a screenshot picture to this thread?
It is okay... You are just confirming what momscar and I were documenting.
For future reference, try one of the options listed here for posting screenshots. You may need to try a few to find the right fit
