Rage! Also wait for balloons to soak up any air bombs
I'm almost master 2 with lvl 3 minions and I use 3 rage 1 lightning or 3 rage 1 heal
I like doing 2 rage a heal and a light
3 rage 1 light
I pack 2 rage 3 lightning but only use a lot of spells on a big loot or whatever. Some people like heals but I think it's better to rage and destroy stuff quicker seeing how slow loons are. There's a couple of different strategies for using loons and minions it depends if you are more concerned about loot or trophies. If you use 16 balloons rest minions it's the quickest and how most are farming. Use the loons as a kind of giant to take all the air bombs etc. then quickly follow with the minions. They're also good for farming this way on an inactive base. Send in a balloon or two and follow with a sweep of minions to clean up mines etc. The other way to use them is more high trophy play where they are more concerned about getting 2 star victories. Pack more balloons, about 24-32 max depending on your camp size. This strat is basically to wipe out all the defence one or two sides clearing to the centre. Sweep one or two sides with loons and rage them. Drop the minions once the balloons have cleared the way. The minions clean up all the other stuff and hopefully the TH. Lightning spells are for CC troops and also if you are on 48% or whatever and need to make up a couple of % for the win.
3 rage and 1 lightning does the trick. I put all 24 balloons in along one side, two rage spells beside each other. Put 25 minions in to pick off buildings and lightning any cc troops, send in another 25 minions when they can move straight to the core and put another rage spell down in the core.

Personally i like heal because balloons will have more time to engage.
Yeah it was really nice to push with the boost, made it to masters as we can raid every 40~50 min using balloon minion army. Yay for 1000 gems!
Rage. Not due to the damage increase unless your attacking xbows/infernos but for the speed increase.
I find heal spells to be awesome when dealing with high level wiz twrs and your balloons are clustering too much haha.
its all about those jump spells. :rolleyes:
just kidding, you can pretty much use everything except jump spells to boost your flying armada. rage empowers them and makes them kick much more ♥♥♥ than usual. heal keeps your troops in the game for a longer time period. lightning and freeze can destroy or deactivate those pesky air defenses or clan troops.

Hey, I'm fairly new to Th8, been here maybe a month and a half. I have level 5 balloons, level 3 minions, and a 25 capacity CC. I'm currently sitting at 2325ish trophies. I tend to ask for only balloons in my CC or 3*+ minions if I can't get balloons. Initially I look for a suitable base for my raid comp. 20 ballons, 50 minions, and whatever is in my CC. For spells I use 1 lightening and 2 rage. Lightening is to kill archers in the defenders CC.
When initiating ing my raid I find a base with either lower level air defenses placed anywhere in the base, or higher level air defenses placed near the edge of the base. If air defenses are in the bases core I drop minions as soon as I can, but only after my balloons draw the air bombs. Soon as air bombs hit the balloons I drop minions behind my balloons. This helps keep balloons alive long enough to get to the core and destroy the air defenses. Usually an easy 1-2 stars. If air defenses are near the outside of the base I drop minions only after the AD has been destroyed.
Dont forget to drop lone minions near free buildings.
1 light, 1 heal, and the rest rage
Light for cc troops that have equal or less hp than wiz
heal for if wiz towers are screwing your team
rage for speed increase
(you can also lure the cc troops into a corner and drop a loon above them, splash will kill most of the cc troops)

Thx for the tips. I am still getting used to the balloons and minions though. About 3 for 6 on attacks with them so not very good but im getting npbetter
True, but I've found that, up to Crystal 1 at least, you can still avoid level 6+ wizard towers, or if you are really keen you just make sure your minions are well spread so they are not all taken out at once.
Therefore I dropped any Heal, in favour of 3 Rage, 1 Lightning - rage really is the all-purpose spell to fix all potentoial problems - speed up your balloons, help your minions destroy infernos and TH before they are all zapped, etc etc. Has worked really well, and I've only got level 5 balloons, level 4 minions... as always, the key to success is picking on the right base!
