Should There Be An Auto-Opt Out For Inactive Players?
while i'd like to open this as a topic for 'general discussion', i'm going to include a poll to quantify opinions.
if you're thinking 'there already is' - i'd like to inform you that no, there is not. we have a situation with the leader in my hood... having always read that after 4 weeks of inactivity, players would be opted out, i wrote to support. the first response was kinda glib, as per normal, so i clarified what i had read here, and asked them specifically to clarify this policy. the following was their response:
''...well it's good to know you go through information in our community forums, we had this option, automatically opting out players for only one month and later we removed it.
hence, currently farmers cannot be opted out automatically, it can only be done by the leader, co-leader or themselves...'
NOTE: i did explicitly ask for and receive permission to share their comments (as pertains to the not quoting support thing). he/she thanked me for asking so i think they get it.
they went on to say that he/she agreed it was a good idea because currently there is no way to opt out a leader, and said they had cascaded it to developers for consideration. so i'm doing the same thing. i'd like to think this might catch nick or frisco's attention, especially if people agree it's a good idea.
alternatively, maybe co-leaders should at least be able to opt out leaders, but NOT kick them out, that would solve my problem. that actually might be a better solution. i don't want to muddy the waters of this yes/no poll though.
i say all this with having experience in my hood, and reading here, that people get opted in without consent seemingly randomly. that may in fact be why our leader is in anyhow (it has happened to her before, and others in my hood). i realize that having the leader / co-leader able to opt people out solves MOST issues, but not when you have a MIA leader (and it has definitely been over 4 weeks).
