A Way To Block Lightning On Your DE

Hey guys,

I've thought about this before, but only recently joined the forums. I see a lot of threads complaining about lightning on their DE storages. My temporary solution is quite simple. Place your barbarian kind and or archer queen next to your storage. The wander around often on top of/inside the storage. I have figured out that they actually block lightning damage. Anyways, hope this helps.

Lightning is area of effect, it will damage both the heroes and the storage. The heroes do not soak the damage.

Actually, they do soak up the damage if the lightning bolt hits them. (from my experience)

They take damage but so does the storage. When you drop lightning on a pack of 20 archers it doesn't kill them one at a time does it? It's splash damage.

I agree with mintberry. There is actually a strategy where you lure clan castle troops over a specific target such as a mortar or air defense. Wipe them both out with a lightning spell. Two birds with one stone. Or rather Two birds with 2-3 stones.

whats there not to get? lightning spells do splash damage AND they hit multiple areas. so it still does damage to the storage since its SPLASH and the queen/king will also take damage along with the storage. also even if it didnt do splash damage(WHICH IT DOES) the multiple strikes would still hit the storages

Firstly, thanks! I haven't tested it as extensively as I would like, but I've been playing this game for over a year, and am basing this thread off of the knowledge and experience I have gained in that time.:rolleyes:

There is nothing to discuss, it's a pretty straightforward mechanic of the game that the lightning spell does splash damage and heroes do not have a special property of absorbing it. I'm posting because this is a public forum and I don't want another player to see this thread and be misinformed. Post a replay with your hero + storage being lightninged and no DE being stolen and there will be discussion to be had.

I never said it works 100%. It is just a suggestion for those complaining about losing DE to lightning. Personally, I think lightning is something you have to deal with in exchange for farming lower trophy ranges.

It's a poor suggestion, as unless a lot of us are missing something totally unknown, it's not possible, ever. So until we can see some proof, it's our duty to fellow clashers to dispel this rumour before it misleads anyone and leads to disappointment...

p.s. actually, no troop goes over a building... Watch your King and Queen closely, and you'lll see them wander around buildings and walls, but never over them (except to jump over walls).

As it turns out, I re-did my base last night, and my Queen is now right next to my DE store... if I ever get a lightning to the DE when she's nearby, and she absorbs the strike, I'll be the first to report this amazing fact here. But please don't hold your breath waiting...

You can't block players from lightening your DE, this normally happens when higher level players are at the lower trophy ranges and very rarely happen at the higher trophy levels. Typically higher TH players drop there trophy level to farm lower THs and TH7 players struggle to get DE because they can't climb the trophy level high enough to get enough DE for Barb King quicker so they end up zapping the higher TH players for it.

The only way to avoid this is for the farmers is to use up all their DE before going down to the lower trophy levels to farm...

It would be kind of cool if this actually worked as you say it does, but I highly doubt it, much for the reasons already stated. From clash wiki:
"Electrocute your enemies with bolts of lightning!
Cast this spell at the enemy village to damage buildings and units inside a small area."
the 8 last words of the description being key. The statement does not discriminate specifically between "normal" units and heroes - they just count as units. Heroes do take damage from lightning, so they are not excluded from the unit concept, nor transcend it, in this matter.
Also, it would in many cases be highly impractical to design a base with the DE storage and heroes in the same compartment (instead of mortars/xbows/infernos), so I am not sure all people would use this to their advantage even if it would be true that heroes soak up the lightning damage.

Sorry if I come off as a moodkiller or overly negative person, that is not what I am shooting for. It is just that this does not work the way you say, from my experience at least. It just doesn't seem very logical. Other than that, welcome to the forums :)
