Questions about Balloonions

In what trophy range should I use balloonions?
How many balloons and minions and other troops should I train for an army (I have a 240 population)
And, how to defend?

I would say that any range works depending on the strength of your troops. I got to 2000 with level 4 balloons and level 2 minions. I used 32 balloons and the rest were minions. There is a tutorial in the thread which is linked in my sig if you want to check that out.

I think there are some leaderboard players who use it. Even someone like me who farms at Gold III uses it every morning or after I come from school. It's pretty effective wherever you use it.

Thanks dude. Let me take a look.

my balloons are level 5, and I am about to upgrade them. My minions are level 3.

Another question is, should upgrade balloons to lv6 first, or minions to lv4 first

I would do balloons. Because they target defenses rather than all towers, the extra damage and HP will allow them to move quicker and last longer. This will also help your minions last longer.

What level balloons are you using? 32 balloons seems too much. I would do 14 -16 tops and the rest minions. Queue up balloons in all barracks and minions in DE barracks.

32 was what worked best for me. If you do much less than that your balloons get wiped before the defenses are gone, leaving your minions vulnerable. Plus, when pushing, a three star raid is best, as it brings the most trophies possible and the most loot possible from each raid, so the more firepower the better. Minions are basically your clean-up crew in a composition like this; they wipe the leftovers after the balloons wipe out the defense. More balloons=faster clearing of defense=more trophies.

@Stephenislander: how do you defend people from attacking you using balloon+minion strategy? My TH is level 9.
